Chapter: 3

Laxus Dreyar

“Can’t we slow down Laxus?” I still ended up taking Talia back to my place. Jii-chan asked me to so I couldn’t say no... She was just about to trip when I caught her.

“Watch your step would you?” I hissed. It was pretty dark around the forest. I chose that path so she wouldn’t dare want to come back next time.

“Do you think I like falling?”

“Just hold on to me and you won’t. Let’s go.” She held my hand tightly as we walked. I know the way by heart so I have no trouble walking in the dark.

“I can’t take this anymore.” Talia held out her other hand and let out a yellow glow in her hand that quickly lighted our path. It wasn’t destructive. It is like a thousand glitters that just simply lighted our way.

“You should’ve done that since the beginning.” I pulled my hand back but she quickly snatched it back.

“I’m scared of the dark.” Her voice sounded shaky.

“Your power is light and you’re scared of the dark. How ironic.” I said sarcastically.

“I’m just traumatized by dark forests… That’s all.” She forced out a husky laugh. Now I felt really guilty. I could have taken her to the town path… Oh whatever, it’s her fault for bugging me anyway.

“Let me ask you this woman, are you really my cousin?” I looked deep within her eyes and I could see tears forming in it.

“Yes…” She said with her jaw clenched together. She was obviously lying.

“You’re fairy Lilly aren’t you?” I gripped her hand and we both stopped in the middle of the forest.

“What are you talking about?” She acted innocent.

“I could see through you lady. You’re fairy Lilly. The one in the story book that Jii-chan wrote.” I accused. It was my favorite story of all the books that Jii-chan read to me when I was a child. The Fairy born of water and lighting, it is definitely Talia. I studied her appearance and she looked exactly like the picture in the book. I got the hint that it was her because of her mysterious aura, her appearance and her telling me that it was convenient for her that my powers was lighting. Jii-chan can never have another woman besides Oba-chan. He loved her too much.

Talia held my arm and sucked all the electric currents around me and calmed me down in an instant. I didn’t even realize I was already covered with electricity. “Hey, calm down Laxus.”

“Tell me your story woman.” I ordered.

“Haven’t it ever cross your mind that I am not telling anyone about myself is because I don’t want them to be in any danger?” Her expression yelled pain.

“I can keep a secret and I can protect myself…” I assured her.

“Alright, you are Makarov’s grandson, I guess I can trust you.” Her statement was a bit insulting but I looked pass it.

“I am a fairy born of water and lighting. I was given by the Gods and landed on the Tenrou Island. Mavis took me and placed the sacred mark on my back. I grew up in the guild, with no parents but an extra huge family.” She narrated her life to me and I was moved with sympathy. Her story was finished when we reached my house.

“So those filthy council members wanted to use you as an immortality drink huh?” I interjected.

“Yes, and if they find out that I’m still alive, they might terrorize the guild again. If you fight, Fairytail might be declared as a dark guild. I don’t want to be of any burden to anyone.” Now I understand why she had to lie.

“Don’t you realize that you’re being a burden to me right now?” I took my keys and opened my house.

“No…how could sleeping over to your house become any burden to you?” Well, she did have a point.

“Tomorrow, we’re going to the market to get you some clothes. Rest well. That’s the guest’s room. You could stay there.” I pointed towards the door at the corner of the house.

“Thank you so much Laxus.” She leaped and kissed me on the cheek. Her simple gesture made my heart beat so fast. “Oh, I forgot to tell you one of my abilities. Just like any other dragon slayer, my senses are of high level. I have very good hearing and I’m wondering, why is your heart beating so fast? Is that a normal thing?” It beat even faster when she questioned me.

“Just go to sleep woman.” I turned around and went in my room.

“Good night Laxus, sleep well.”

“Yeah, right.” How would I be able to sleep knowing that a woman such as her is sleeping under my roof?
