Cassie entered Izzie's room, pausing at the fact that it was completely empty other than the blonde herself. "Where is everyone?" she asked bluntly, drawing Izzie's attention away from the scarf she was knitting. "Have you been alone all day?"

Izzie shrugged, pausing her movements. "I don't blame them. I wouldn't want to spend any more time in this depressing room than I have to."

"I mean, Alex has at least swung by, right?" Izzie shook her head as Cassie scoffed. "Ass."

"It's fine," she smiled, though her eyes told a different story. "I'm sure he's just busy with patients."

"Last time I checked, being diagnosed with stage four metastatic melanoma classifies you as a patient."

Izzie sighed, sitting silently for a moment prior to changing the subject. "You're probably wondering why I paged you."

"I just assumed you missed my electrifying presence," Cassie shrugged sarcastically, taking a seat in the chair next to her bed before turning more serious. "What's up?"

"Shepherd is operating on me today, and Bailey said I couldn't have any friends in the room," Izzie prefaced. "But, since we're technically not friends... I was wondering if you would scrub in on my surgery."

Cassie opened her mouth to say yes, before reminding herself who the lead surgeon was. "I don't think that's—

"Just hear me out," she cut her off. "I trust Derek, and I trust Bailey. But, believe it or not, I trust you more than the both of them combined."

Cassie scrunched up her nose. "Why?"

"Because, you're you," Izzie said as if it were obvious, raising a brow in question. "So, will you?"

It went quiet, each of them silent as Cassie thought about whether or not it was worth it. She didn't want to disappoint Izzie, but spending the day with Derek sounded like the worst thing possible at that moment.

Speaking hesitantly, Cassie sat up straight. "Okay, if you really want me to, I'll scrub in. But first, I just... I need to ask you something."

"Okay," Izzie nodded. "What is it?"

Cassie bit the inside of her cheek. "Meredith told me... Meredith told me that you've been hallucinating Denny."

"Oh."

"I wasn't going to—" she cut herself off with a scoff, shaking her head at the situation as her eyes watered slightly. "God, I feel so stupid for even asking this, but—"

"You want to know if he talks about you," Izzie said knowingly, her gaze moving downwards for just a moment before looking up once again.

Cassie shrugged, feeling a strange sense of jealousy at the fact that Izzie got to see him again she didn't. "Does he?"

Izzie nodded sadly, a small smile on her lips despite the words coming out of her mouth. "Cassie, you're the only thing he talked about."

"What—"

"When Denny first showed up, he kept repeating the same thing. You killed me, Izzie. You hurt Cassie. You killed me. For a while, I thought I was being haunted. After I eventually had a breakdown, he layed off, but he never really went away." Izzie let out a shaky breath. "Every time I saw you, he was right by your side, just... staring at me, reminding me of what I did."
