It didn't last much.... It's been so long since you made your promise to each other. You were so naive and young that you actually thought that he'd keep it.
Your friendship lasted until the end of that year. In seventh grade, he started hanging with the cool kids. Blowing you off, not really caring if you were alone or not. Often you would be, but you didn't mind. You grew fond of the quietness. Gave you time to think and daydream.
By freshman year of high school he forgot who you were. You had once said 'Hi' to him, but the look he gave you was like the look you gave to a stranger. It hurt you like hell, but like everything, you brush it off.
Your mother was somewhat worried about you. You hung out with friends a lot yes, like any normal teenager. She knew though. About the whole "Dave" thing.
You were never really quite the same without him. So she found out your Chum Handle and gave it to Bro, telling him to tell Dave to pester you sometime.
He never did.
And you didn't expect him to.
Your father was the CEO of a huge and popular company, which means he traveled a lot. And you liked it that way.
He wasn't very approving of your wardrobe choices or music choices or- y'know what basically anything you liked. You were criticized non-stop when he was home. Thankfully he almost never was.
Despite your family's wealth and your father's fame, you were (by your opinion) the most invisible person in school.
You basically only had one friend and that was Jade Harley. But though she is your best friend, she was a part of Dave's clique. So again, often alone....
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You were sitting at the bus stop waiting for a dark green mustang to whip around the corner. Yes, you are in your senior year of high school and you still do not have a car.
You rely on your squiddle obsessed best friend to pick you up and drop you off from school.
You had a job, but you could walk to that.
So yeah, at least you could do that by yourself. You then hear the familiar whirr of her engine, and a flash of puke color goes by before you hear a 'beep'.
"C'mon get in (Y/N)! Or we'll be late!" She smiles. You smile back and hop in, putting your seat belt on.
"Well, you are the one that drives us to school! You should stop sleeping in!" You giggle.
She giggles along with you "I can't help it! That 'prospit' dream keeps showing up! Its strangely cool though! I can fly and I have this pretty golden dress and- " "RED LIGHT!" You cut off your friend's rambling just in time.
You two heave forward and stop, just a few inches away from hitting the car in front of you. You let out a laugh and shake your head. "Jeez Jade! Are you trying to murder us? Do you even have an alibi?!" You shout, laughing in between words.
She laughs along with you and steps on the gas when the light turns green.
You had met Jade freshman year, and you two had a lot in common. What you loved about her is her nice and caring nature, so even though she was "popular" she had no problem hanging out with you all the time.
In fact she loved hanging out with you.
You also understood that the people in her clique were also her friends so you shouldn't be selfish. So though at school you are alone, on weekends and sometimes after school, you two were over each other's houses, watching a movie in your underwear.
You pull into the parking lot just as the bell for homeroom rings. She waves you off while you two go separate ways.
The thing you dreaded on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays was your even classes. And why, you may ask? That's right!
Dave Strider
That cool kid was in every even class of yours, even your lunch wave. He still doesn't remember you, and it is honestly pathetic at this point.
And guess what? It just happens to be Wednesday.
Perfect.
You sigh and walk into English class, sitting at the very back where you usually are. You look up and see the devil himself, surrounded by his friends.
Always in the middle of the class, standing there talking about whatever comes to mind. You sigh as the teacher walks in and the first period bell rings.
"Alright class! Sit down!" Mrs. Leijon shushed, making everyone sit in their seats. She was your favorite teacher of all. You and she would always talk about your ships, and she loved to ship her students. She would pair her OTPs together during projects.
Speaking of...
"Alright! I have decided to give you guys an English purroject," everyone groaned, " and I want it to be about the partner I'm assigning you to!" She smiled partially squealing and looking at you. Oh no....
"Okay! The pairs are Harley and Vantas, Egbert and Serket, Peixes and Ampora......" she went on and you drowned her out.
No one knows anything about you anyways. Why would-
"...(L/N) and Strider"
You stayed quiet and froze but inside you were freaking out. You didn't see, but Dave was looking at you. Though you wouldn't believe it, he actually did remember you, and he was freaking out just as much as you.
