She doesn't want
a rich man or a
handsome man,
or even a poet.
She wants
a man who
understands
her eyes if
she gets sad
and points to
his chest
and says
"Here is
your home."

Natasha popped open Pepper's door, peaking through the window to speak with Happy.
"I'll keep the car down here, all right?" He asked giving her a nod. The two women smiled before heading into the Expo. Justin Hammer's presentation was about to begin. The two weaved through the crowds of people, working past grabby hands and stuck out feet. Natasha narrowed her eyes at the man as he danced onto the stage looking like a baby deer on Crack.
"Yeah! That's what I'm talking about!" Justin shouted pointing out at the crowd. "Thanks for coming! Ladies and gentlemen, for far too long, this country has had to place its brave men and women in harms way, but then IronMan arrived, and we thought the days of losing lives behind us. Sadly, that technology was kept out of reach. That's not fair. That's not right. And it's just too bad."
Bella cleared her throat, pushing past hundreds of people, and jogging over to Pepper and Natasha. She gave Natasha a nod before her gaze landed on the obvious display of an overinflated ego. "Sorry, I'm late, I got a bit held up," Bella murmured, edging closer to Natasha. The red head gave Bella a secretive smile.
"Regardless, it was an impressive innovation, one that grabbed headlines the world over. Well, today, my friends—"
"We're not your friends, jackass!" Bella shouted and ducked behind Natasha. Pepper smacked her shoulder, sending a reprimanding look her way while Justin laughed off the insult.
"Anyway," he started. "The press is faced with quite the difficult problem. They are about to run out of ink!" Two people ran out onto the stage and removed the podium Justin stood sat. "Get that outta here! Ladies and gentlemen, today, I present to you the new face of the United States military! The Hammer Drone!"
A line of silver and black drones rose out of the stage. Each section coming up to a playing of the different military anthems.
"Army! Navy! Air Force! Marines! Yeah! Yeah! Woo!" He shouted, pointing a finger at the different layers of rising platforms. "That's a hell of a lot better than some cheerleaders, let me tell you. But as revolutionary as this technology is, there will always be the need for a man to be present in the theaters of war. Ladies and gentlemen, today, I am proud to present to you the first prototype in the Variable Threat Response Battle Suit and it's pilot, Air Force Lieutenant Colonel James Rhodes!"
Bella gasped sharply, watching as Rhodey landed beside Hammer. Her brown eyes narrowed at the man she considered one of her best friends, glaring at the new suit he had donned. "That's why they fought," she muttered. Her eyes flicked to the sky every few minutes in search of a flicker of gold. Bella leaned over to Natasha. "Tony got a call from Vanko. He's gonna show up."
The redhead clenched her jaw taking a deep breath but nodded firmly. She followed Bella's eyes to the dark sky before narrowing back on Justin Hammer.
"For America and its allies, Hammer Industries is reporting..." Justin trailed off, turning to face the open rooftop as a red and gold suit shot towards the stage. IronMan landed on the stage on one knee, drawing up to his full height and heading for Rhodey.
Natasha, Pepper, and Bella all scoffed at his dramatics, muttering comments under their breath.
"We got trouble," Tony stated coming to a stop in front of his best friend. He turned to scan the crowd in search of the three woman but he only found one.
Bella and Natasha had already started to make their way back through the crowds to get backstage when he landed.
Rhodey followed his line of sight but instead of finding Pepper's bright blue eyes his gaze stayed on the hundreds of people. "Tony, there are civilians present. I'm here on orders. Let's not do this now."
Tony offered a brief smile. "Give then a wave," he said shaking a hand at the crowd. He barely noticed Justin trying to but into the conversation. "All these people are in danger. We gotta get them outta here. You gotta trust me for the next five minutes," Tony sighed looking around the stadium once more. Rhodey made a noise in the back of his throat.
"Yeah, I tried that. I got tossed around your house, remember?"
"Listen, I think he's working with Vanko," Tony frowned.
"Vanko's alive?" Rhodey asked, his voice sounding far off as Bella got farther away. She ignored the rest of the conversation, barely hearing it while she worked towards the stage hands.
Her glanced over the control panels and all the chaos erupting over it. Bella slammed the manager against a wall a ways from the controls. "What the hell is going on?"
"I don't know! I don't know! Everything seemed to be going fine and now we're locked out of the mainframe!" The manager snapped, feeling cornered as Pepper and Natasha stormed into the room seconds after Bella.
Justin Hammer glared at the group. "Please, please go away. Go away. I've got this handled," he grumbled putting his hands in the air.
"Have you now?" Pepper arched a brow and scanned over the chaos occurring around the room before landing back on Justin. She clenched her jaw, glancing back at Bella as the brunette crossed her arms over her chest.
The doctor shared a glance with Natasha before she nudged a techie out the way and started to hack the network. It's what had gotten her hired at SHIELD the first time and Natasha knew that. She'd gotten a file on Bella after she's been found out.
"Listen, we got to get these bitches out of here," Hammer muttered to a worker seconds before he was slammed down against the table in front of him with his arm behind his back.
Natasha leaned down beside his head. "You tell me who's behind this. Is it Vanko?" She growled darkly. Hammer struggled against her hold which only made it more painful for him. "Is it Vanko!?"
"Yes!" Justin cried. "Yes, it's Vanko!"
She pushed him back down to the table harshly. "Where is he?" When he didn't respond Natasha smushed his face into the table instead of his chest.
"My facility."
Natasha sent Bella a nod, heading out the door as she did. "Pep, get the police here," Bella shouted over her shoulder before rushing out the door after the redhead.
Her dress restricted her movements as she jogged down the hall to catch up with her. She couldn't help but wish she'd gone against Pepper's wishes and worn jeans instead.
"You worked for SHIELD, correct?" Natasha called over her shoulder before turning on her heel and walking backwards at the same pace.
Bella marveled at her coordination. She'd grown up forced to wear heels and even she never could have been able to walk that fast in heels going forward.
"Doctor Laker?" Natasha questioned, her green eyes scanning over Bella. The doctor stumbled over her words for a moment before she just responded with a nod. "So you have some field training? I might need backup."
