"You let her do WHAT?!" The devil roared as dice and opal stood before his desk.
Opal folded her hands and bowed her head low, her little shoulders trembling.
"Sir please! Calm down. Shes just fine!" Dice said gently, trying to calm Satan before he really scared the poor girl.
"Just fine? Just fine?! I told you to let her try some light house keeping on a short shift and she worked from 7 to midnight and cleaned the entire east wing of the casino?!"
"Sir I didn't know she didn't understand when her shift was supposed to be over! And she did a very good job!"
"Dice you good for nothing lackey you left her alone for 17 hours! She could have gotten hurt or lost in the halls or..."
He stopped when he heard a small sniffle and his eyes moved to opal and he saw a little tear fall from her down cast face and hit his floor as she stood there shaking in fear of him and he felt his heart break.
"Oh...oh Opal sweetness! Why are you crying?" He asked, stepping around his desk.
Dice moved to her too, placing a gentle arm around her shoulders. "Yes darling tell us what's wrong."
She furiously dried her eyes and sniffled again. "Master. I'm very sorry I upset you. I am very sorry that I didn't follow the instructions I was given correctly."
His eyes widened and he cupped her face in his hands and made her look up at him. "Opal! Opal no! Darling! Sweetness! It wasn't your fault! Please don't cry... oh god I can't stand seeing tears on your lovely little face." He said, trying to gently dry them away.
"But you're upset with Mr. Dice because of me..."
"Ok ok. I won't be upset anymore. Does that sound better?" He asked.
She sniffled and nodded, "yes master. Thank you."
He smiled and moved to scoop her up into his arms and he carried her over to his desk where she gave dice a smile over his shoulder.
She hadn't been certain that would work but she was glad she could get Mr. Dice out of trouble at the expense of her pride.
Dice blinked, had she...done that on purpose? Had she just played the boss like a fine tuned fiddle? All to get him out of trouble? He liked this girl. He liked her a lot.
Lucifer pet her hair gently and held her close. "Ok. It was an accident today then we aren't gonna let it happen again. Right dice?"
Dice nodded, "yes sir. Never again. I'll personally see to it that she doesn't get carried away and returns to you directly after her shift."
He nodded. "Very good. You may go home then dice. Goodnight."
Dice bowed lightly before he quickly exited and left opal and Lucifer alone.
Lucifer moved to sit her on his desk, taking her tiny hands and rubbing them gently. "Busy day huh?"
She relaxed as his strong hands massaged her little ones.
"Yes master." She said, relaxing with his touch.
"You must be so tired... is there anything you need?"
She shook her head. "No master. I'm fine.vim here to serve you... you really don't have to worry about me so much."
His face softened and he took her cheeks in his hands again, "but I want to make you happy."
"I am happy master. I'm happy to serve you. That's what I'm here for. I don't want to stop and become useless for you..." She said, her voice changing to drip with fear.
"Wait what? Useless for me why does that even..."
She go on his hand and placed it on her shoulder, "feel down my back please master..."
He was a little startled but did as she asked and under his fingers he felt nothing but large deep gashes in her skin. Deep scars that must have felt sensitive to the touch because when he looked at her face little tears tipped her eyes.
"Show me opal. Stand up and hide your wings and show me." He said, his voice warm but firm.
She swallowed and stood and moved to stand before him, removing her blouse before tucking her wings away, making her look even smaller and she turned around. Her back was nothing but one large scar.
Lucifer felt sick as he looked down at these scars and he could help himself, little pink tears fell from his eyes as he reached out and placed a hand over her back. "Do they hurt?"
"Yes master. Sometimes."
He bit his lip. He didn't understand his fascination with this girl. He didn't understand why she had melted his heart so easily. He didn't understand why her pain hurt him so much.
It was all so new and intense and it scared him and the fact that something scared him confused him even more.
He leaned down and kissed her back gently, making her gasp audibly but she covered her mouth and he smirked, reaching around her and pulling her back closer to him, taking her hands and lowering them down. "You've spent your whole life making others feel good. Has anyone ever made you feel good?" He asked in her ear, feeling her body shift in his arms as he watched her cheeks turn that lovely little shade of red.
"I... I don't believe so master."
"Would you like me to make you feel good opal?" He asked, his voice soft, non threatening. He wanted it to be her choice and he didn't want to frighten her.
She swallowed and smiled softly, closing her eyes and nodded. "Y-yes master." She whispered.
