These are the following requirements you need to follow for recommending a book. Any book that doesn't abide by these requirements will not be accepted. The form to fill up for recommending a book is at the end of this chapter.
1. The book MUST be completed. Any book which isn't labelled as "completed" will not be accepted. (Sorry to all those amazing ongoing books, but we are wanting completed ones only. Better finish yours quick ;))
2. It must have at least 30k words on average, which is around 1k words per chapter for a 30 chapter book, or around 1.5k words per chapter for a 20 chapter book. We know it's hard to count the exact number, so this is just to give you an example of the average size of the book, so like... no short stories.
3. It must not be paid. Obviously because not everyone can afford to read them.
4. Reads on a book doesn't matter here as long as the book is good and enjoyable to read.
5. You cannot recommend your own book. Check out FAQ chapter for more details.
6. Mature and LGBTQ+ are fine but they must be detailed clearly.
7. Any genre is open for recommendation except random.
8. For fanfics, Character x Character, or any story within the main storyline is fine. However, Character x Reader are not accepted. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
9. For mature/gore you must give full details of it in the form. If we find any book which was recommended by wasn't given any details on it in the form, the person who recommended will not be able to recommend any books for six months.
10. If the book contains LGBTQ+ contents, describe it clearly (eg, if it's a side character, main character), so the people who don't want to read LGBTQ+ contents will know it beforehand. The next password is your favourite book.
11. Smut books, or books that strongly depict sex scenes / mainly revolves around sex, are strictly not allowed and recommending such a book may place you on the blacklist for 3 months.
12. You can recommend as many books as you want as long as they all fulfill the requirements. Keep in mind, we will only have one book for each month. So even if your recommended book is accepted, it might not be the BoTM. But, your book will be in our list of recommended books and it will eventually get a chance too.
13. PLEASE ASK FOR PERMISSION FROM THE AUTHOR. Not all authors are comfortable with their books being used for such reading challenges so before recommending a book, pm the author for permission. It's simple. Just private message the author: "Hi, may I recommend your book, (insert book name), for a reading challenge hosted by @_CLNBC_?" or something along those line :)
IF THE AUTHOR DOESN'T REPLY OR DENIES PERMISSION THEN DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT BOOK... please, be honest and considerate.
These are the requirements for now. They may change in the future if we see it's necessary.
Remember, your form must be filled in one online comment in the selected area only. Any form filled elsewhere will be completely ignored.
