Erin's POV
After what felt like days long, unable to fall asleep amidst my clouded mind, we finally landed in Chicago. Carrying a sleeping Sophia in my arms, we got out of the plane and navigated through the airport, collecting our bags before going into a taxi.
I looked out of the window, remembering the city I grew up in - Chicago. It was just how I remembered it to be. Regrets flushed through my mind that I didn't come home more often, didn't check in on Hank more often, didn't call him more often, didn't do a lot of things that I should've done.
When the taxi pulled up at Hank's house, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I paid the driver, took our belongings and entered the house with Chloe, still carrying Sophia. Entering the empty house gave me a sense of deja vu, reminding me of the time Jay and I came to check on Hank only to find out that Olive and him have been kidnapped.
I guided Chloe up to my room, laying Sophia down gently on the bed, covering her with the blanket. I brushed her hair out of her cute lil' face, sitting on the end of the bed and stroking her cheek gently. She looked so peaceful sleeping with her teddy bear in her arms. It breaks my heart to think that if we lose Hank, it may be too much heartbreak for her lil' heart to handle and she may not understand that she'll never see her grandpa again. I quickly pushed those thoughts away, not allowing my mind to go for the millionth time since I got the news. I placed one last kiss on her temple before standing up.
"I'm going to head to the hospital," I whispered, trying to compose myself.
"You sure you don't want to rest Erin? You look tired," Chloe said sincerely.
"Yeah, I won't be able to get any sleep anyways." I let out a quiet sigh.
"Okay," Chloe replied understandingly.
"You can sleep here with her. I don't want her to wake up freaking out because she's in a new place and I'm not there by her side," I looked at Chloe.
"Yes of course, don't worry. Go be with Hank. Keep me updated alright? Everything is going to be okay," she tried to reassure me.
I nodded, telling her to rest as well. I gave her a faint smile before taking my bag and Hank's car keys, and made my way to Chicago Med, preparing myself mentally and anticipating for the worst.

Not my best chapter and I know it's kinda dragging but I hope that you guys still enjoy it :)
Somebody asked me why my chapters are so short and I just wanna clarify. So my primary target is Instagram, and Instagram captions have limit, so I tend to keep my chapters short. I hope you guys understand :) And I promise I'm trying to post more regularly
