Twilight, but make it ?CHONI?

Riverdale High
Sunny afternoon

The sun has come out and so has the skin. Kids in shorts, though it's barely sixty degrees. Everyone eats lunch outdoors. Toni searches the crowd for Cheryl.

"She's not here" comes a voice from beside her.

She looks down to find Izzy sitting on the grass.

"Kevin said that whenever the weather's nice, the Blossom's disappear"

"So, they just..ditch?"

"No dr and mrs Blossom yank 'em out to go hiking and camping and stuff. After Kev told me that, I tried it out on my parents. Not even close"

Toni registers this as Angela suddenly jumps on them.

"I'm going to prom with Eric! I just asked him, I took control!" She exclaims excitedly as she hugs Toni.

"Are you sure you have to go out of town?"

"Yeah it's, a family thing"

"Oh my God, we need to hit the stores in Port Angeles before the dresses get cleaned out!" Izzy realized.

"Port Angeles? I've never heard of that"

"You still don't know about alot of places here"

"Well yeah, it's only been about a year"

After saying that Toni had a plan forming in her mind.

"Can I go with you guys?"

"Of course, we need opinion"

Well that's not really what she had in mind...

Port Angeles
After school

Antsy, distracted, as Izzy and Angela try on dresses. Toni pulls a mapquest print-out from her purse. It reads 'Thunderbird And Whale Book Store'. Izzy flounces out the changing room, posing provocatively.

"I think this halter makes my boobs look big. What do you think Toni?"

Outside the window, a group of rowdy frat boys head down the street to a bar. Two of them stare at Izzy's low-cut dress. Embarrassed, she turns back to Toni.

"Toni?"

"Huh? Oh, it looks great"

"You said that about the last five dresses"

Angela sighs. "Your not very good at this are you?"

"Maybe I should just go check out the book store and meet you at the restaurant later"

"You sure?"

Toni nods and heads out. Izzy looks back at the mirror.

"She was right about this halter though. It looks great.

Night

Toni exits the book store with the book she just got in her hands. She heads down the sidewalk, but then hears footsteps behind her. She turns, doesn't see anyone. She puts the book in her shoulder bag and keeps walking. But somebody's following her. She looks around, changing course to cut across a parking lot.

Isolated, Toni, breath short, scared, she turns around just as two men emerge from the shadows, not vampires, but the frat boys. Really wasted now.

"Wanna beer?"

She looks to her left; the other two guys are there. She's cornered. She takes her purse from around her shoulder.

"Look just take my bag"

"Oh we don't want your bag" one said.

She takes a defensive stance and wraps the strap around her wrist to use her purse as a mace. They chortle derisively. But when one guy comes near, she swings it, and hits him in the groin. The book in her bag doubles him over. The other three laugh, and start to close in. But suddenly...

Headlights blind them. A silver Volvo screeches up. The frat boys dive out the way. The passenger side door opens. It's Cheryl. Toni's too stunned to even move.

"Get in" she yells.

She finally does. But one frat boy jumps into the game and rushes Cheryl's side of the car.

Cheryl screeches to a halt and jumps out the car, now facing the guy so fast, neither the frat boys or Toni see it. Nor does Toni see Cheryl's glare, so chilling, animalistic in its fury that the guy, scared, backs off, as Cheryl climbs back into the car. To I just started at her.

Night

Toni continues to stare. She sees that Cheryl's seething with anger, hand gripping the steering wheel, jaw clenched.

"H-how did you-?"

Cheryl gritted her teeth.

"I should go back there and rip their heads off"

"Uhm no. Bad idea"

"You don't know the vile, repulsive things they were thinking"

"And you do?"

"Not hard to guess"

Izzy and Angela exit the restaurant as Toni approaches.

"Hey where were you?! We left you a message"

"Yeah we waited but we were starving"

Then they see Cheryl behind her, getting out of her car. They freeze. Cheryl's composed now, making an effort to be charming. And they are charmed.

"Sorry I kept Toni from dinner. We ran into each other and got talking"

"I- we, we understand. We were just leaving..so"

The two girls start to leave. Toni is forced to go with them.

"Okay, well, thank you"

She starts to follow the girls. Cheryl is torn, then abruptly...

"Maybe, I should make sure to I gets something to eat"

Toni gives off a surprised look.

Cheryl continues.

"...I mean, if you'd like. I can drive you home myself"

"That's so... thoughtful" Angela says.

"Mhm, really thoughtful" Izzy continues.

Toni debates with herself for a second.

"I could eat"

As Cheryl guide's her off, the other two girls share a look, then a noiseless scream of excitement for their friend.
