Late afternoon

Toni enters to find Charlie cleaning a rifle. He starts to say hello but she blurts out-

"I have a date with Cheryl Blossom"

He suddenly looks like he's having an aneurysm.

"She's too old for you"

"We're both junior's, I thought you liked the Blossom's"

"And I thought you weren't interested in anyone in this town"

"Cheryl doesn't live 'in town'. And it's in the early stage and- whatever she's outside right now"

"Now? She's out there?"

"Mhm. She wants to meet you, officially"

"Good"

He cocks the rifle in mock-seriousness.

"Be nice. Okay? She's... important"

Charlie gives his daughter a reassuring nod, then she opens the door to reveal Cheryl in a black parka and gloves.

"Chief Topaz. I wanted to formally introduce myself. I'm Cheryl"

Cheryl extends her hand. Charlie takes it, but grunts a hello, resisting her.

"I won't keep Toni out late tonight. We're just going to play baseball with my family"

"Toni's going to play baseball?"

Toni's equally as surprised as her father, but hides it.

"Yes sir, that's the plan"

"Well, more power to you, I guess"

"She'll be safe with me sir, I promise" she looks Charlie in the eyes.

As Cheryl exits.. Charlie holds Toni back.

"You got that pepper spray?" He whispers to her.

Toni sighs. "Dad.."

Cheryl and Toni climb into a massive jeep parked in the drive.

"Since when do vampires like baseball?"

"It's an American pastime. Plus, there's a thunderstorm coming. It's the only time we can play, you'll see why"

Clearing in the woods

Storm clouds gather in the sky as Toni and Cheryl pull up in the Jeep. They climb out of the Jeep as Betty and Archie greet Toni.

"Good thing your here, we need an umpire" Betty says in relief.

"She thinks we cheat" Archie says with a crooked grin.

"I know you cheat. Call 'em as you see 'em Toni"

Josie stands on the pitcher's mound.
