The sun, that's Lily's first memory, not how she appeared in this golden field, or her name, or age, and even her hair color, just a bright, blaring ray hitting her right in the eyes. Sitting up she looked around at the tall stocks that surrounded her, she couldn't say what they were exactly, she thought maybe a type of grain, but she wasn't entirely sure she could remember. When she focused hard enough, she can see a face, and put a name to it. Daniel Leon, but she doesn't know who he is, or why she can only remember him. So, as she stands to get a better look around she feels determination swell in her chest, she will find the owner of that name, even if it meant searching the globe for him.
She learns that she is almost perfectly centered in a small circle, around her she could see where the stocks had fallen, and on the right of her is a small footpath, about a foot wide, and seemingly endless. When she steps forward, she feel the stiffness settle in her bones, letting out a groan before stepping forward again. For a while she tries to see beyond the stocks, but comes to find that the extra height she thought shoes would add to her short frame, didn't exist, instead bare feet stared back at her.
"Wonderful" she mutters rolling her eyes before looking back at the packed path. After a moment of self-discussion, she decides following it might be her only escape of the field. As she walks, her stiffness lets up ever-so slightly, making it a little easier to move, but her thoughts linger away from those moments of reality, back to her empty mind, only finding that name and blurry face again.
Sighing she stops, coming to the edge of the field, and to the beginning of a large, unkept lawn. It seemed safe, something like that of a friendly Farmer who likes helping people. Except for the fact that all lily could see was the side of the house, and old and falling apart tractors, trailers, and the odd truck, it didn't exactly scream friendly.
She felt this consuming fear grip her, but she found it odd to be afraid of some grass, considering it couldn't bite her or anything. except she figured tis fear wasn't that crazy after all, she had no clue what was in there, alive or dead, or just some rocks that could cut open her bare feet. This made it hard to know whether or not it was worth the possible unstoppable pain just to get to the other side, there must be some other way. Sadly she knew waiting wouldn't do her anymore good than not, so she took a deep breath and delved into the unknown.
As the house loomed higher above her as she moved slowly, cautiously trough the grass, she noticed more about it. It was a farm house, that was something that screamed it obviousness, but now she noticed that the home was in bad shape. The once pale blue paint had peeled off the siding almost completely, left to flutter in sheets to the ground below. the windows had been shattered, then boarded up, including those on the porch where the glass still lingered in pools of shiny, sharp death traps. the door had been splintered, as if something large had ran through it, breaking it in two. the second half was in chunks just inside the door of the house, what remained on the hinges was swinging in the slight wind.
As she climbs the steps of the porch, she looks side to side, but sees nothing of any interest, not even an old rocking chair to show that someone might live here. However, with the sight of it, she doubted that anyone did live there. Glancing down at her feet once more, she began to pick her way across the porch, careful not to step on any of the shards.
"Hello?" she calls hoarsely "does anyone live here?" her voice dies at the of the sentence, and instead lets out a wheeze of air before she fell silent, waiting for an answer.
She touched the door, and it swung back letting light pour into the house, inside it was fully furnished, and nicely furnished at that. With wooden boards that made up the walls, and an old flowered couch in one room holding a small television. She peeked her head inside before she wrinkled her nose up in disgust and pulled back.
