The hallways bustled as students of all ages hurried to their next class. It was the second week back after Christmas break, and it seemed as though all the professors had banded together to completely disperse everyone's Holiday spirit. Y/N was walking quickly to potions, or at least as quickly as she could without knocking over the first years in front of her.
Finally she arrived at the classroom, hopefully not too out of breath. Y/N entered the room to see that Harry had saved her a seat. She was thankful for this for two reasons, one being that they had been so busy they'd hardly seen each other since being back from Christmas, and the second reason was that he would hopefully let her share his book as she could always use extra help in potions.
Y/N quickly moved towards Harry and Ron however before she could make it to the table her foot caught on something and she fell flat on her face, her book bag spilling in front of her. Sprawled out on the floor Y/N looked up to find some Slytherin boy sneering down at her. "Watch your step." He said.
She glared back at him and stood up saying, "Or what?" He laughed quietly. "Ooh, going to report me to your Mudblood dad?" Y/N heard the sound of a stool being slid quickly backwards across the floor and turned to see Harry walking towards them.
"What was that?" He said, his eyes not leaving the Slytherin boy. "Ahh, Potters here to save the day. You know what they say, blood traitors of a feather stick together." Harry clenched his wand tighter at this comment and Y/N saw his eyes flicker over to Draco, who was casually watching the scene unfold. Harry opened his mouth to say something but not before Draco spoke up. "Blaise. Am I going to have to brew this potion myself?" Blaise turned to Draco curiously, who gave nothing away with his expression.
Draco was saved from having to explain why he just broke up a fight involving Harry Potter, by Slughorn bustling into the dungeon. "Is something the matter?" The Professor said, looking to the four of them, and at Y/N's bag still strewn across the floor. "Not at all Sir," Blaise spoke up and picking up Y/N's bag he handed it to her saying "Tonks here just dropped her bag and I was helping her get it. "Ah, well thank you Mr. Zabini, now back to you seats everyone."
Blaise shot Y/N a smirk to which she responded with a hand gesture her mother wouldn't approve of, before taking Harry by the arm and dragging him back to their table.
"Bloody Hell." Ron said as they sat down, "What's Blaise have against you all the sudden?" Y/N shrugged, "Who knows." She said.
Slughorn partnered them up into groups, with Harry and Y/N paired up together, and explained that they would be making antidotes for poisons. Hermione hissed at Harry from the table behind them something about how Harry's book wouldn't help, as each poison required specific ingredients. Y/N really hoped that wasn't true because she knew without the Half Blood Prince, Harry was about as good at potions as she was.
Unfortunately Hermione was right, there was only a small note, something about a bezor, but nothing of any help. About ten minutes in Y/N and Harry decided to give up, and started talking instead.
"Hey, are you alright? You know from earlier?" He asked quietly. Y/N shrugged and said "Yeah. I mean I love my dad, I don't really care if Blaise does or not." Harry chuckled, "I know, but still. I wish Malfoy would have said something." Y/N pushed around a few flobberworms with her potions knife before saying, "He did in his own way." Harry said, "Yeah." But seemed unconvinced. Y/N knew he still thought Draco was a death eater, so she wasn't surprised. She was unsure if Harry could ever be convinced there was any good in Draco.
As the class drew to an end Y/N could tell from the disappointed looks that Slughorn was sending her and Harry's way that he was not going to be impressed with their antidote. Just as the Professor began his inspections around the room Harry stood suddenly and retrieved something from the ingredient shelves. He returned just before Slughorn made it to their practically empty cauldron. "Well Ms. Tonks, Mr. Potter?" He asked in a unimpressed voice. Harry stuck out his hand to reveal a small shriveled stone. Y/N had no idea what it was, but to her relief and Hermione's dismay, their Professor found it highly entertaining. Somehow, despite spending the majority of the class talking to each other, they left with a passing grade and even received points for Gryffindor and Hufflepuff.
As they left the classroom Hermione hurried past them without a word, clearly not pleased with the trick Harry had played. Even Ron groaned about Harry not giving him one as well. "It would have looked weird if both our groups had done it!" Harry protested. Ron opened his mouth to reply but was interrupted by the arrival of Lavender Brown, who hopped on his back and covered his eyes proclaiming loudly, "Guess who it is WonWon!"
Harry rolled his eyes but Y/N snickered. It was Ron's own fault for using Lavender to make some kind of point about how he was able to get a girlfriend. She took Harry's hand, they had a free period next and Y/N figured since Ron and Hermione both seemed otherwise occupied it could be a good opportunity to spend time with Harry.
Harry and Y/N walked together to the astronomy tower. Ever since they had shared their first kiss there they had returned wherever possible to talk and enjoy the view of the castle grounds, especially since they had been finding it harder to get into the room of requirement.
Y/N snuggled into Harry's shoulder to shield herself from the wind. "I can't believe that stunt you pulled with Slughorn!" She laughed. Harry grinned stupidly and said, "Me neither. When I was holding my hand out with the bezor I had no idea how he'd react." He wrapped his arm around Y/N and continued, "Especially since he's been avoiding me recently."
She knew that Harry was disappointed in this fact. Dumbledore had directed Harry to get some sort of information from their Professor, but Harry said that when he'd asked him about it Slughorn had become tense and was now avoiding him. Y/N knew Harry felt down about failing Dumbledore and was frustrated with his lack of progress with Slughorn.
"Well maybe you should just take a break from thinking about Slughorn!" She said and poked his side playfully. "You think?" He asked, "Hermione says that I need to keep focusing on it, since Dumbledore asked me.." Y/N sighed. "Harry, if it meant that much to Dumbledore, he should just ask Slughorn himself. You're sixteen, live a little." Harry looked down at her and raised his eyebrows, "Brilliant." He said with a smirk, "And just what did you have in mind?" Y/N opened her mouth to answer but was interrupted by someone else exiting the stairs that lead up to the platform of the astronomy tower.
Her cheeks blushed dark pink as she recognized Justin and Ernie, who were starring at her and Harry. Completely unaware, Harry smiled at the brightly and said "Oh hello!" Justin muttered something about making a wrong turn to the owlery and the two boys quickly descended back the way they came.
"That was strange!" Harry said and looked at Y/N curiously, "They're in you're house and year, I would have thought they'd say hello to you!" Y/N blushed again and mumbled, "Er, well, Justin's been upset with me ever since I started talking to you actually." Harry looked confused and a little hurt. "Why? Do they not like me?" Y/N sighed and said "No I think it's more that Justin likes me.. Or that's what I'm guessing, he's never actually said." Harry looked down at her. "Oh." He said glumly, "Do you like him back?" Y/N laughed "Harry do you really think I'd have kissed you and would always be spending time with you if I liked Justin?" Harry smiled. "Good." He said pulling her closer to him.
Y/N wrapped her arms around Harry and he kissed the top of her head saying, "If Justin liked you he's an idiot for not saying something. Although I'm glad he never did."
