Chapter Three: Is it normal for people to live in trees now?

Start from the beginning

"I'd say you're a good fighter" he grumbles, holding his left arm to his side like you would do if it was sore.

"I'll have to agree with you" Lily sighs in defeat, looking around at the lonely landscape, before looking back at the group "can someone explain to me exactly all this, the zombies and stuff, came to be, i think i need a refresher"

"That's a long explanation, but we gotta get moving before it's too dark to bother, why don't you come with us? We could always keep you alive, at least until your memory returns" Freya offers

"Sure, what's the worse thing that could happen?" Lily says shrugging indifferently.

"Well, you could die. Though, we are pretty good at what we do, but you do need a new weapon, that bar looks deadly, to a human, but not a zombie so much" Kyle says as he pulls the sword strapped to his back off clumsily. "Here, I don't use it much, not really a sword kind of guy" he explains as he hands it over. Lily takes it cautiously, pulling the blade out of it's sheath. It was shiny, almost new, like it hadn't been used often.

She liked this, the feeling she had when holding this sword. She didn't feel afraid, or nervous of what would happen next, she only felt the rush of adrenaline. She wished then, like she had been all day, that she could remember something about herself, even if it was only her name. She let her gaze drop to the bade, it was starting to rust, meaning it had been ill-cared for. Still she had this overwhelming urge to run her finger along the sharp edge to see just how well it could slice the skin, she didn't do it of course. Now she could only wonder what kind of sick thing was wrong with her that doing that was the logical thing to do, the only thing that made any sense in this world and it was her ability to be surprisingly weird.

It also gave her other things, the sense of longing, like someone was missing from her life. granted she also didn't know who that was, only that some guy named Daniel was so important that she only knew his name. She found this all very frustrating, but couldn't push that longing feeling away.

"You coming?" Freya asks and Lily jerks out of her strange thoughts and back to reality, she nods slightly and then turns to follow the three.

----

Freya watched as the older girl examined the blade lovingly, it was as if she was missing something, or someone, but she probably didn't know who that was. Considering the poor girl didn't even know her own name, let alone if she had any loved ones still alive. As far as Freya was concerned, she hadn't know this girl, but upon closer inspection she started to realize who she was, how she had known her a long time ago in a world without zombies, of course this couldn't be that girl, that girl had died... right?

"You coming?" she asks the girl, and she looks up startled, but nods and sips the blade back into its sheath, then quickly moves to follow them as she slings its strap over her shoulder.

"The story of the apocalypse isn't very long; considering we don't know all that much. It has been about three year we think since it started, since the first human turned Z and then spread the virus. Most people don't know or don't care how or why they rose, but from what I know, someone wanted this to happen. A contaminated flu vaccines went out, they called it contaminate Z, which in turn would infect the host, laying dormant until the host either died, or was bit by a zombie, after that the virus would run the body as if it were its own, that's why you kill the brain when taking them down" Robbie explained, then he looked to Kyle to put his talent to good use.

"After the zombie population started to rise, a company, JenCorp, they used their genetic research faculties to create these superhuman like things, they were supposed to be faster, stronger and smarter than any known human. they created hundred of them, but they last one came out wrong, they don't know why she was different, only that she was. where other s had these weird glowing blue eyes, this girl had these red ones, like a zombie, and had more strength and speed than any number of the others combined, and smart? That was just the icing on the cake of what this girl could do, but she was young, too young, and she got angry one day and completely massacred the others. While the others had been given the name Protector, she was called The Experiment...." Kyle trails off looking to Freya to pitch in something about the girl.

"I heard she is still around, after killing the Protectors, she like ran away, escaped to The Resistance, a group of survivors against the work they do at JenCorp. The girl, they say, was the creator of the group" Freya offers tiredly, her gaze flickers to meet the girl who hasn't spoken in a long time, her stance seemed to have changed, flickering between confusion and something Freya couldn't determine.

"What else did they say about this experiment?" the girl says quietly, her gaze staring at the setting sun in the distance.

"That she was ruthless, killed humans and zombie alike, were most Protectors couldn't lay a hand on a human without some sort of punishment. The dead were their domain. they also say that when she kills you, all you see before you die, is glowing red eyes..." Kyle trails off with this taunting voice before breaking out in a fit of laughter. "but it's all rumors if Protector really did exist, you would think at  least some of them would be out doing their job instead of waiting around to die at the hand of some little girl"

"Maybe they did exist" the girl says slowly" Maybe someone really did kill them off, maybe she isn't fake" she lifts her gaze to meets Freya's, watching her intently, but she also seemed far away in thought, like she was reliving a bad moment in her life.

She let out a small gasp as if she was in pain, before looking away from them and set her sight on the nearing town. "We should get moving if we want to make it before dark" she says before picking up her pace, moving much faster than Freya was willing to go.

The three friends met the strange girl at the bottom steps of the house, where she stood watching the door, which was wide open. A pair of red eyes glaring hungrily at her. " We got this one" Kyle says and pushes past her.

"Don't" she hisses, grabbing his arm to pull him back "there is more than one in that house, taking them on is suicide" she says gravely, and Freya looks at the door worriedly.

"How many, exactly, do you think is in there?" Robbie says to her and she shrugs slightly.

"I don't know, it just, doesn't feel right, not safe, we should just move on" she says unsurely.

"No way, I am not walking another ten miles tonight, I'm taking the risk" Kyle risk as he pulls his arm away from her grasp and moves forward, his blade swinging wildly, hoping to hit any target. Once he first zombie goes down though, roughly six more come barreling out of the house, and Kyle, oh you stupid fool, comes scrambling back and the girl pulls the blade Kyle had given out.

It seemed as if another person had taken over her body, creating this deadly thing that kills without mercy, or at least kills Zs without mercy. Every-time her blade moves she takes down another Z, her movements are terrifying, almost graceful depending how you thought about it. When she comes to a stop, she is silent, the rest of the group stays quiet, the only sounds is the labor of her breathing which soon evens out.

"Next time someone says, don't go in there, you do it" the girl snaps angrily as she pushes past Kyle towards the bottoms of the stairs. "Why couldn't you have just listened to me? Why would you just be so reckless like that? Do you have a death wish?" she asks as she turns to look at him, with the sight of her face, the three fall back.

Her eyes they changed color in her anger, flickering between green and.. and Red
