"Ahh, amiga, what's taking so long?"
That voice could send chills down your spine every time you heard it. Actually...that's exactly what happened. You weren't sure when this little heart skipping thing started, and you weren't sure if it would ever end. Regardless, it was there to stay. Maybe that wasn't such a bad thing.
The sudden crashing of the waves below you was enough to snap you out of your trance, almost as though you had completely forgotten where you were.
Actually...where were you? Weren't you just...
"Common, [Y/N]! Jump already! The water's perfecto!! I'm getting bored down here by myself! Apúrate!"
You squinted your eyes, taking in the cool breeze that tickled the exposed skin left in the open. You wore a one piece bathing suit, and Octavio was in the water below you. The two of you had decided to go cliff diving. How surprising was that? You had originally rejected the idea when Octavio asked you to join him. It took a lot of convincing to get you to tag along, and now, here you both were.
Completely getting lost in this forgotten memory, you let out a nervous laugh, while your eyes hesitantly dropped to the water below you. Octavio was watching you from below. It had to have been at least a 20 foot drop. Either way, you were pretty nervous.
"I don't know if I can do it, Tavi!" You squealed down to him, dropping to your knees as you watched him run a hand through his now wet, green locks. He let out a "PFFF", and made his way over to the shore.
"Wait for me!" He shouted up to you, sprinting his way up the hill.
And wait you did.
It took the speed demon absolutely no time at all to get back to the top of the hill. Fortunately for you, still being on your knees, your eyes immediately landed on his abs. The fact that he was soaking wet only added to the color that was quickly consuming your face.
"Oi, amiga, now's not the time to stare!" He'd laugh down at you, extending his hand to help you up. "We'll save that for later, ey?" That snarky bastard winked at you with that toothed grin that made your heart melt. Damn him and his good looks...
Regardless, you still playfully punched his toned arm.
"Shut up!! I wasn't staring!" You'd snicker at him, and the two of you made your way over to the edge of the cliff. Well...You stayed behind him, still uneasy about jumping 20 feet into a pool of salt water.
Octavio could practically smell the anxiety that raided from your form. He knew you weren't exactly a fan of heights, which is exactly why he wanted you to come. Maybe he'd be able to help you with that? And even if he couldn't, it was more time spent with you; the only thing in his life that was greater than an adrenaline rush.
As you hesitantly made your way over to him, you turned your head in his direction to shoot him a nasty glare.
"So help me god, Tavi, if you push me into the water-"
He cut you off.
"Relax, [Y/N], I'm not that terrible!" He'd roll his eyes playfully at you, and grasp your hand in his. You felt your heart skip a million beats in that moment, and you felt your eyes glue to his in those few seconds.
"Just follow my lead, okay?" He smiled down at you, to which you could only reply with a head nod. Your brain short-circuited there, which led to you now jumping off a damn cliff.
Octavio laughed the entire way down, never once letting go of your hand. You, on the other hand, squeezed your eyes shut and screamed.
The second your body hit the water...
You opened your eyes.
The lights were the first thing to overcome you, and you were forced to squint. The brightness was blinding; overwhelming, to say the least. Wait...where the hell were you? Next was the tube lodged down your throat, most likely to get some oxygen to your lungs.
The feeling was beyond uncomfortable, and with your heart rate skyrocketing, you began to choke on the tube. Your arms flailed at the clear plastic, pulling away at the tape as you gagged and struggled for air. A wave of panic briefly overcame your senses, desperately clawing away at any sort of material keeping that damn tube in your throat.
In one swift motion, the tube was laying at your side, and your breathing was coarse and heavy. At least you could breathe on your own now; that was a relief. With your hands still resting delicately on your throat, the next thing to gain your curiosity was the sound of machines. Beeping, to be more exact.
You craned your neck to the side, a wince overcoming your face as the aching pain overcame you. It wasn't just a pain in your neck, it was pain everywhere.
Why weren't you dead? Didn't you get shot down in a matter of seconds?
Oh right...the attack. That was an attack, right? Stupid question, of course it was. But...why?
You closed your eyes and let out a lengthy sigh. The air reeked of medicine. It was something that made you nauseous, and god forbid, you didn't want to get sick again.
With only those few moments of silence, the door to your room opened, and in came a woman who seemed to...maybe be around your age? Her hair was a deep red, tied into two buns, with a floating robot...thing, following steadily in her path. You couldn't move your body, but your mind was alert.
Then, your gazes met, and the woman pursed her lips. She walked over to your bedpost and smiled down at you.
"Try not ta' move, ya hear me? Ya took quite the beatin' back there." With a small pause, she'd let out a sigh, and push a button on one of the machines next to your bed.
"Ya need more rest, alright? Ya wounds are still pretty bad. I'll be here when ya wake up, dontcha worry." You couldn't even open your mouth after she finished speaking. Suddenly, you were hit with the sleepy train out of nowhere, and your eyelids grew overwhelmingly heavy. In a matter of seconds, you were out cold once more.
