nayeon squinted her eyes at the older boy, "why are you staring at jiyoung like that?"
"what are you talking about?" he asked.
nayeon skeptically looked at him, "i saw you staring at her with that weird look on your face. are you mad at her again?"
jaemin deadpanned at her, unsure of how she even reached the conclusion that he had been mad.
"i think it's the opposite." jeno chimed in, getting both of their attentions.
"the opposite?" nayeon asked.
jaemin sat up straighter and partially cleared his throat, "no, it's not the opposite."
"i definitely think it is." jeno laughed quietly.
nayeon's eyes partially widened as she looked back at her cousin, "you like jiyoung?"
"i mean, obviously. in a friend way, though. your boyfriends on some type of crazy juice."
"stop trying to save yourself. i've known you since we were kids and you've never looked at a girl before with big hearts like those in your eyes right now."
jaemin scoffed, "so suddenly you're the love expert?"
jeno nodded, "seeing as i'm the only one here with a girlfriend and have had her for a while now, i'd say i'm the strongest in the category."
"really then mr. love expert, what was i thinking when i was looking over at jiyoung? that i love her so much and that she's the love of my life? please."
"of course not, that'd be ridiculous." jeno shook his head.
jaemin was a bit surprised but nonetheless agreed.
"you were simply just jealous." jeno nodded.
"jealous? you're kidding, right? i don't get jealous."
"no, you don't get jealous over people you don't like. and even then, your personality doesn't allow you to get jealous when you're dating some other girl because you know that-"
"you sound crazy right now."
"he's making sense to me." nayeon shrugged.
jaemin stared blankly at her for a second and then returned back to jeno, "okay so what? i like jiyoung. maybe, just maybe, i'm a little jealous. so? what do i do, mr. love expert?"
jeno looked at him as if the answer couldn't have gotten any clearer but sighed when he realized his best friend was not picking up on the clues. "ask her out, idiot."
"now?"
"yes, now. cause if you wait, you're gonna chicken out just like every other time i know you've tried asking her out before."
"low blow-"
"just do it."
jaemin scoffed and pulled his phone out of his pocket, knowing he couldn't actually ask her in person.

he looked over to see jiyoung noticing her phone screen lighting up and bending down to grab it. she slouched over reading the message, making it impossible for jaemin to see whether or not she was smiling.
he noticed the three typing bubbles on her side of the screen and waited anxiously for the response.
