A blinding flash of light fills your vision as you are flung to the ground. Pain racks through your broken, heavily wounded body as you roll uselessly across the ground. Your fingers twitch and you manage to pull yourself to your knees. A familiar sense of nausea hits you as you stumble through the destroyed throne room. You were looking for someone. Him. Of course you were looking for him. It was always him. It had been him since the very beginning. You fall to the ground beside his unconscious body, desperately shaking him and pleading with him to wake up. Tears sting your eyes and burn as the slide across the cuts on your face. Glass and metal crunches beneath your feet as you shift.
Then a name.
Your name.
It had fallen from his lips in a breathless rasp. You attempt to pull him to his feet, but he was just as weak as you were. As the two of you guide each other through the collapsing ship, your eyes fall upon the endless piles of bodies strewn about. This was not a sight you wanted to see again.
Before you know it, you are stumbling into a painfully familiar escape pod. You whirl around, fear in your eyes as Kylo forcefully shuts the door.
"I'm sorry..."
"No, you're not!" You scream helplessly, pounding against the door. These were not the words you had uttered that horrible day. This was a fact that you knew without a doubt. The real words had been buzzing through your mind every day and night since then. This was not reality. It couldn't be.
Kylo presses his gloved hand against the glass. "I love you."
"Liar!" Your voice cracks and trembles from the pain. "You don't love me! Why would you do this to me? Why would you hurt me like this?"
"I love you."
"Fuck you!" You send a kick at the door, desperately pounding against the glass. "Kylo!"
The pod suddenly shoots away from the ship, sending your body flying. You wail as you hit the door, pain coursing through your battered form. Your eyes scrunch shut, hands covering your ears as the engines of the pod whine. That sound was followed by the Supremacy exploding just behind you. Swallowed by a fiery abyss that you couldn't bear to watch again.
When your eyes fly open again, you are standing in the middle of a deep black cave. Your hands extend away from your body, blindly feeling around you. A sudden rush of a familiar lightsaber causes you to gasp and whirl around. There stood Kylo; faintly illuminated by the blood red glow of his weapon. He had that look in his eyes again. That deathly, cold look you despised so much.
"My child," a cold voice echoes through the cave. It did not belong to the man you had loved and it did not seem to be coming from him either. "At last. You have sensed it, have you not? The Force growing more powerful as it courses through your veins. Flickers and flashes of it."
Your brow furrows. There was truth behind this man's words. "Who are you?"
He laughs coldly. "Just another voice in your head. Another flicker of the past. You can sense it, can't you? The imbalance in the Force. The darkness slowly enveloping the galaxy as the light begins to fade... just as it should be."
"You're wrong. There needs to be a balance. There cannot be shadows without light." You snap as you slowly approach Kylo.
He wasn't moving. His cold eyes were following you, but that was all. You observe him carefully.
