[Ice Age] Diego x Reader

Chapter 9.

"Okay, follow me. We'll pick up Y/n and Sid and get out of here while we can." Diego told Manny.

In the meantime, for your part, you were in your hiding place, but since nothing had been heard from anyone, you began to worry.

'Are they sure okay? What if they need help? Should I go help? Diego did say I should stay here but I can't just wait here without doing anything! I have to go to help!' You thought and started walking slowly and carefully towards Manny's hideout.

And back to Manny and Diego...

"Come on, Diego. Let's bring this Mammoth down." Soto said and approached Manny. Diego, on the other hand, walked alongside Soto and both of them approached Manny. Then when they were close enough, Diego turned against Soto.

"What are you doing?" Soto asked annoyed.

"Leave the Mammoth alone." Diego said. And for you, you had just arrived and you saw this situation. Then you saw how the other three tigers came from behind Soto and since you didn't think, you decided to jump in the game.

"And how did you think to win, Diego?" Soto asked and now it was your turn. You jumped in the air and roared a little but it was smaller than the others. You landed next to Diego and he didn't look happy because you didn't obey his commands.

"Well, well, Diego, you never told about your little friend. You look very familiar, what is your name?" Soto started by asking while looking you in the eye.

Y/n POV:

"Well, well, Diego, you never told about your little friend. You look very familiar, what is your name?" Soto asked and looked me straight in the eye.

"Y/n, but I don't think you're doing anything with that information." I replied back and stayed low and was ready to attack. Then we heard Soto start laughing at something, then he continued,

"You're F/n's daughter, it's a shame I didn't kill you the same way I did to your parents." Soto said and I froze. No, no, no! All my life I had thought that they rejected me, that they did not want me and that there was something wrong with me. But the truth was that they were killed? My family...' I thought and then I felt how tears came to my eyes and how Manny and Diego were so ready to tear Soto into pieces.

"Aww, are you starting to cry? At least I realize that you are no different from the rest of your family, all equally weak, and no matter what, your weakness will soon become to be your fate." Soto said. When grief was gone, it was time for anger.

"You are going to pay about what you did." I said coldly and before I knew it, Soto and I spun in a circle opposite each other and kept our eyes on each other. I was ready to attack and fight him. He's coming to pay for what he did, he's the reason my family isn't here with me.

We started fighting each other and soon I jumped and Soto did the same. I managed to scratch his face with my claws and he in turn got a slightly worse mark on me but I didn't feel any pain, yet. Then the three tigers started fighting Diego while Soto attacked me again.

I attacked and pushed my claws into his side but he in turn bit me on my right leg. I growled in pain and this got Diego's attention. Soto was attacking me again but Diego pushed him to the ground and they started fighting.

"I won't let you hurt her." Diego said as they fought.

"You've become soft, did you know that." Soto said back. Then I heard Manny screaming in pain and noticed how three other tigers attacked him. For my part, I ran to him and grabbed the neck of the closer tiger and spun him into the snow and far from Manny. Then I stood in front of Manny.

"Y/n you're hurt." Manny said.

"Don't worry it's just a scratch." I said and kept my eyes on the three tigers that approached us. At the same time, I saw Soto throw Diego to the ground and he collided with a large rock. Diego was lying on the ground and he wasn't moving.

Then I growled at the other tigers and they retreated, I saw a reason for that and Soto approached us. They approached us and drove us into a corner.

"I'll give you one more chance, step aside and let us take care of the mammoth and we'll let you go." Soto said.

"I would never leave him." I said painfully because my leg hurt.

"All right then, just the way you want it." Soto said and was ready to attack. He jumped in the air and was attacking me and for my part I closed my eyes and waited for the pain, however, it never came and when I opened my eyes I saw Diego lying on the ground in front of me. He- he saved me...

Then we heard the baby screaming and this got Soto's attention. He was going after the baby and Sid but Manny interrupted him as he threw Soto into the air with his tusks. Soto crashed into the rock wall and it caused sharp icicles to fall onto him, we could say that he got what he deserved.

Manny looked at the three tigers with a cold look and then they ran away. For my part, I was with Diego who was lying on the ground and he was barely alive. I felt tears flow down my cheeks.

"We did it!" I heard Sid cheering in the background and my crying voices got their attention and they walked slowly to us.

"Diego, come on, we have to go, get up, get up..." I said and pushed him with my head and tried to keep him awake. Then Manny, Sid and the baby came up to us and Sid stepped next to me.

"Yeah. We were some team, huh?" Diego said and looked at us.

"Were? Come on. We're still a team." Manny said behind us.

"I'm, uh, sorry I set you up." Diego said.

"Ah, you know me. I'm too lazy to hold a grudge." Sid said and put the baby on the ground, in front of Diego's face.

"Hey, knock it off, squirt. You got to be strong. You have to take care of Y/n, Manfred and Sid... Especially Sid." Diego said as the baby put his hand on his muzzle.

"Come on, you can lick this. You're a Tiger like Y/n. Look, I'll carry you. Come on, what do you say?" Sid said.

"Diego, you have to stay strong, you can't leave us, you can leave me." I said and he looked at me.

"I just want to know why, Y/n?" Diego asked.

"-Because you're the craziest and most stubborn tiger I know, hot shot." I said and gave him a sad smile.

"Come on Diego, just like Y/n said, you can't leave us. Tell him he's gonna be okay, Manny." Sid said and looked at Manny.

"Listen, you have to leave me here. If those humans get through the pass, you will never catch them." Diego said and his voice weakened again with every word he said.

"You didn't have to do that." Manny said and Diego looked up at him.

"That's what you do in a herd." Diego replied.

"Diego, no, no, you can't, you can't leave us, no-" I started and looked at him. His eyes almost no longer remained open and his breathing shortened.

"Y/n... I have to... tell you that... I..." Diego started but couldn't finish as he closed his eyes. That was it, he's gone. He is gone...

The baby also started to cry and as he was hugging Diego, Manny picked him up and turned around.

"Come on, we have to go..." Manny said and he and Sid turned around. For my part, I still looked at Diego and pressed my forehead to his neck.

"I liked you too, Hot shot." I said and turned around. Not so long so I was with Manny and Sid again and  going towards the humans.
