Flashback
"Dad! Papa wants you upstairs!" You skipped into the kitchen. Your dad set the adoption papers down. You had been pretty excited when you heard your fathers were going to adopt a little girl named Haisley. You scribbled on a paper until you heard a crying sound. You quckly ran back up to see your parents holding each other in tears. "Papa? Dad?" Your four year old self couldn't comprehend what was happening. "Sweets.." Your dad hed your shoulders. "Your papa has, um-" He choked back tears. "He has a disease.." He said quietly. You looked at your papa and quickly hugged him. "You'll be better! I'll heal you!"

You said that a year ago. Your papa laid in bed, coughing lightly. You were in the kitchen with Haisley, coloring. Haisley was asleep in her cradle. Your dad was at work. You started to hear rustling noises upstairs. "Be careful Papa!" You called lovingly. There wasn't a reply, which was normal due to him losing is voice from the coughing. But.. He would tap on the wall to signal he heard you. You slowly got up, cautiously getting closer to the stairs to listen. More rustling.
"Papa?"
Click click.
"Papa?!"
BANG!
You quickly rushed upstairs. "Papa!" You screamed. He couldn't hear you. He laid on he floor, gun scattered to the side and a crown of blood around his head. "PAPA!" You screamed again. You tried to clean the blood, resulting in more getting everywhere. You hugged him, crying his name.
Slam.
"DAD!" You screamed out, running downstairs. "Hey Y/N, how- Oh my god!" His eyes widened. "Dad! It's Papa! He's-" You broke off into sobs. Your dad quickly moved you to the side and ran upstairs. "No!" Your dad screamed.
End of Flashback.
"A-And that's what happened.. He left me..." You were crying now. "Hey, hey.." Zim immediately pulled you into a hug "you know I'd never do that. You have me forever." He hugged you tighter. "I love you."
3 years later.
"There." Zim's claws guided your hand to point at a star. "That would be our Lodestar to go back to Earth. You leaned your back against his chest and hummed softly. "I want to go back." You said quietly. "Wha- What? You do?" Zim asked quickly. "Mhm." He wrapped his arms around you. "Then we will, my love."
"There. We'll follow the Lodestar." Zim said, steering the ship. "So what exactly is a Lodestar?" You asked. "A Lodestar is basically a guide. You follow it, and it usually leads you home." He explained softly. You nodded before closing your eyes.

The ship shuddered as it landed in the soft grass. Zim's house was still the same, surprisingly. You both walked inside, holding hands. Gir was where you left him, laying down and still. Zim ran his claws down Gir's back, waking him. "Master!" He cried. "You're back early!" He cheered. Zim turned to you. "He was asleep. Couldn't keep track of time, just act like we were gone for only a minute." He explained quietly. You nodded and kneeled down to pet Gir. "Hey buddy." You smiled. You then quickly looked up. "'Oh my god. My dad." Zim immediately understood, opening the door. You approached your house, not noticing Dib.
"Y/N..?" You turn at the voice. "Dib?" He was taller, and his hair grew out. He nervously fiddled with the black piercing on his ear. "I am.. So fucking sorry." He spat out. "I know you won't forgive me, and I don't expect that. What I did was horribly disgusting. I learned my lesson." He held his head down. You thought for a moment, spotting the scars on his arm.
"Dib. What you did was absolutely disgusting." You started. "But." He looked up at the word. "I give second chances. You owe me. You owe me so much. Then maybe, maybe I could consider you a mutual." You blankly stated. His eyes started to water. "O-Of course. Um, your dad is uh-"
He was cut off by a soft voice. "Y/N..?" You turned, recognizing the voice. Your dad stood there, he seemed older. "Dad!" You ran towards him, hugging him. He hugged back tightly. "I'm sorry Dad!" You cried. "I missed you.." He smiled. A small boy slowly walked up behind him. "Y/N?" He asked.
You looked to your dad, confused. "Um, Y/N, this is your brother Hayden.." He smiled softly. You took a moment to realize. Haisley isn't here.. And this boy looks the same age- Oh my god. you thought. You rushed forward to hug him. "I've always wanted a brother! I missed you." You held your younger brother tightly. He smiled and laughed softly. "I missed you a lot." He mumbled. You rubbed his now short hair.

"Well that was fun.." You smiled, looing at the clouds. Flower petals fell past you and Zim as the two of you laid in the grass. His grip on your hand tightened. "Y/N." He stood up, serious now. You stood up as well. "Yes?" You questioned. "Um. S-so you remember all the adventures we went on. The attacks we survived. Our first kiss. When we told each other we loved each other. When we learned of Lodestars. When we um- You get it." He rambled. "Zim, Zim, yes. Calm down please." You said softly, rubbing his arm.
"Y/N. You are my Lodestar, my guide, my light." He said, his eyes directed towards yours. You chuckled softly. "Zim, I-" He cut you off by lowering himself.
"Y/N L/N-hooman, will you make me the most lucky life form in the galaxy and marry me?"
His eyes were full of love as he held the ring up.
"Oh my fucking God, Zim.. Yes!" You cried, tears falling as you hugged him. He slid the ring on your finger and kissed you softly. "I love you so much." He mumbled, smiling. "I love you too." You smiled.
