You leaned against the window sill, looking down near the stream where everyone was gathered. You felt your eyes narrow as you scowled. Your leg ached, but it wasn’t anything like it was two days ago. Most of your body was covered in bandages from the damage you’d taken at the Joestar manor. You had passed out soon after learning that Dio was dead and when you’d awoken, you were in a hospital. You had woken up to a girl, Erina Pendleton, treating your wounds. You’d nearly killed her when you first woke up in a panic, unable to remember everything immediately. Speedwagon and Jonathan had run in to see what was going on, but you’d already been put to a stop by your own pain. The bones in your leg and arm had been shattered and you had some nasty cuts and burns.
You also refused to believe Dio was dead. There was no possible way. He had gained so much just to lose it all in one swipe. He was undead. He was immortal. There wasn’t a single possible way that he was dead. There just wasn’t. You figured he was hiding away, regaining his strength by sucking the lives out of innocent people in his way.
A knock on the door had you snapping from your thoughts and turning to look as the door opened. You glanced back out the window and saw the sun setting. Just how long had you been trapped in your thoughts? It seemed like only a few minutes.
“Why are you up? You shouldn’t be standing just yet,” Speedwagon said, rushing in the room. Jonathan and Erina peered inside as well, and the girl slipped inside.
“I’m fine,” You said, taking your arm back from Speedwagon.
“Vex, you really should sit back down,” Jonathan said.
“Piss off, all of you,” You said, leaning against the wall. “I don’t need to be told what to do.”
“When you are severely wounded, yes you do,” Erina said, fixing the sheets on the bed. She placed a hand on her hip and pointed to the bed with the other. “Now, lay down. Your bandages need to be changed.”
“They were changed an hour ago,” You said, rolling your neck to look out the window. All of this was exhausting. Why couldn’t they just leave you alone?
“I changed them before we went outside five hours ago,” Erina raised an eyebrow at you. “You’ve been standing, so it makes it worse. So, lay.”
You glared at her with icy eyes before pushing off the wall. You laid back on the bed as Erina sat beside you and started unwrapping the bandages.
“Vex, I want to ask you something,” Jonathan said as you folded your arms behind your head.
“I’m not in the mood for discussions,” You said, closing your eyes.
“Vex, please,” He sighed. “I know you don’t believe Dio is dead,”You cracked one eye open and looked at him. “So what?”
“Well,” He glanced at Speedwagon. You then noticed another man lingering in the hallway and scoffed quietly. “We don’t believe it either,”
“Good for you then,” You spat, venom lacing your words. The man placed a hand on Jonathan’s shoulder as he slipped into the room.
“Vex, was it?”
“Who the hell are you?” You frowned, sitting up.
“Lay down,” Erina huffed. You pushed her hands away from you and the roll of bandages hit the floor. “What are you-”
“You were down there earlier,” You muttered.
“My name is Baron Zeppeli,” He said. “I understand you were Dio Brando’s partner,”
“What do you want from me?”
“Do you know where he could be hiding?” He asked. Erina pushed your hands away and began to clean your wounds once again, making you hiss and glare at her.
