"This is impossible! How could she kill so many of us this quick?"
"It doesn't matter. Here she comes. We're all that's left now!"
"The boss is depending on us! If she breaches this floor, then it's all over!"

"Steady now. Regardless of whether we die here or not, at least we'll go down fighting.
Yes, that's it. At least you know why they fear me the most.
Maybe I am a monster, taught to kill anyone who goes against the will of the one who commands me.
But I shed that skin long ago, for I had come here of my own volition.
Here I am, ready to put down a tyrant who is once my dear friend.
If only this was a simple task, then I would never hesitate like this.
I am a woman born to put an end to other people's lives.
Cold, calculating and merciless. These words are what define me the most.
But now, I realized that such qualities are meaningless when you're about to kill someone precious to you.
How did it come to this?
I remember the time when we were first inducted as members of The Family.
After years of eking out a living at the slums, they recognized our ability.
Their leader took us in, raised us like we were his own children.
He looked to you like a son that he never had, while he regarded me as his pride and joy.

We were unstoppable, and that no one can get in our way.
Job after job, we made our "father" proud. As thanks, he eventually introduced us to his inner circle.
That day changed everything.
In front of all the members of The Family, we both took our oaths.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, these are my children, Kim Minji and Jeon Y/N. Today would mark the beginning of their lives as part of our society. As you all know, these two were not related to me by blood, for I never had children of my own. But that is irrelevant now, for what they had shown me these past few years had proven that they have what it takes to succeed me one day. As witnesses of this glorious moment, may I ask if anyone among you would not accept their ascension to our fold?"
When he said those words, neither one of his men questioned him. Either they're intimated by his presence alone, or they were bound by a sense of brotherhood and loyalty. We will never know.
"Perfect. It seems that all of you are in agreement then. Very well. Both of you, come forward."
We did as he asked, as all their eyes are fixed upon us to witness our submission to their creed.
"Minji and Y/N. Know that this society of ours is a secret. You're both about to enter the life of those who are chosen. This family will never be recognized by the world, no matter how much time passes. From now on, this family will mean more to both of you than even your own lives, or God, or even the country you were born in. If I ask you to kill someone you hold most dear, you must do it without question. Now show me, which finger will pull the trigger?"
We both showed our fingers to him, and when we did, he pierced it with an ornamental dagger. The blood that came out from the wound dropped to an image of the Virgin Mary that we were both holding. But as we held unto it, he then set the images on fire.

He then gave each of us a kiss on the cheek, showing his acknowledgement and affection in front of all his associates.
"I am very pleased to have introduced these two talented and sincere individuals to all of you. More than that, I am happy to be able to have done so in front of our esteemed guests, especially you, Chanyeol-ssi. "
A young man who was in fact the head of his own family stood up, as he joyously congratulated us for becoming one of them.
"I can never be more elated to have them serving you, Mr. Byun. For certain, these two young people would be indispensable to our cause. As one of those who share the same interest as yours, I will look forward to working with them."
His honeyed words brought nothing but bliss to our adoptive father, as he can only nod in agreement with everything he said.
Once everything is done, you and I celebrated this momentous occasion.
"Minji-noona, we finally made it. Our father had inducted us at last!" You said to me.
"Yes he did. Things are finally looking up for us, Y/N. After all we've been through, I can tell you now that we both made the right choice." I said in glee.
We shared a simple toast of the finest wine in that restaurant, as the food we ordered had arrived.
"This looks great, Minji-noona! So uh, you're paying for tonight, correct?" You asked as you showed me your charming smile.
"Yes, that's what I promised you earlier. Just eat to your hearts' content." I said to you.
"Wow, thanks! Don't worry, once I earn a bigger paycheck from our next job, then it'll be my treat!" You assured me.
"I'll hold you to it, then. All right, watching you is making me hungry too." I said, as I began filling my plate with the pomodoro pasta I ordered.
It was a simple celebration for both of us, just to remember this day that we had.
I can't help but smile upon seeing you gobble up your food so innocently.
At that moment, you don't look like a criminal, for I can only see a person who was a victim of such foul beasts in our society.
You deserve to have such happiness, and I vowed not to take it away from you.
But sometimes, promises were meant to be broken.
That's what I'm doing tonight, as I ascend the stairs of the proud edifice that we call home.
"She's here! Everyone, take her down!" One of the men said upon seeing me.
My presence alone was enough to instill fear to each and every last one of them, as they desperately try to put an end to my life.
They began to fire their weapons at me, in the hopes of shooting me into oblivion.
But instead, I was the one to commit the act of deliverance, as I put down each of them in quick succession.
Their guns were of no use to them, for I was able to swiftly eradicate them like they were mere mannequins that cannot fight back.
In just a span of a few minutes, the whole room was littered with corpses.
Some were shot by my rifle, while the others met a gruesome death through my blade.
It was there when I looked upon the carnage that I had just caused.
"Is this really me? Have I already gone too far to redeem myself?" was all I could think.
I killed hundreds of men throughout my stint as a member of the family.
But this is the first time I killed those who once worked alongside me.
All of them were loyal subordinates, yet they chose the path of betrayal because of one incident.
I can understand their reasons, but I have to uphold the vow that I made.
If only we didn't know the truth back then.
"You two.....why.....would you......blindly.....serve.....that man.....?
Chanyeol lay on the ground close to death, as we looked at him with pity after he betrayed our father.
"None of that matters, Chanyeol-ssi. We owe our lives to him, that's why we have to obey what he asks of us. After all, you broke the Omerta, our code of silence. We all swore to take our secrets to the grave. You tried to reveal the secrets of our family to those on the outside. The only thing that's left for you now is death." You said to him, as I watch you point your gun at him.
You were about to put an end to his misery, until he spoke the words that will forever change you.
"Hahahahaha! You.....are......a......real fool.....Y/N........can't.....you see? He.....used both of you......to get rid of me.....all because.....I found out.....his secret....."
"What are you talking about?" I asked him.
"Hehe.....find out.....for yourselves....."
With those last few words, Chanyeol perished before our very eyes.
We were supposed to celebrate after dealing with a traitor, yet his death raised a lot of questions.
You noticed that he was holding a key on his hand, as you showed it to me.
We both agreed to find out where it leads us, promising that nothing will change no matter what it is.
But we were never prepared for what's in store for both of us.
Through your skills, you were able to find out where the key is to be used.
It was a hidden door on Chanyeol's office, which led us to an archive of sorts.
As we delve into each of them, we discovered all the contracts that were made between his family and the one we belonged to.
At first, there was nothing strange, at least from a criminal's standpoint.
But there was one file that we managed to see, and upon looking at it, your mind and body was shocked to its very core.
"Noona, this can't be true, right?" You asked me.
"Y/N, I-"
"No! That scum! Look at this, noona! I know that I will sound like a hypocrite, for I too, live the life of a criminal. But never in my mind would I think of doing something like this!"
"Y/N, please calm down! Let us think about this for a second. We have to-"
"I will not! There has to be more of these in here!" You said, as you began to open the other files, only to discover more of his atrocities.
We looked at everything that was in that room, and never did we think that the society we belong to would stoop this low.
They would raid the slums where the less fortunate dwell, and there our father would choose which one he would raise to be a part of his society.
It was there when we realized that we were nothing but pawns the whole time.
Nothing can change that now. With this, we knew exactly what to do.
A week later after that, we both decided to put an end to our father once and for all.
Together, we raided his home with the element of surprise, killing everyone in our path.
His loyal men defended him with all their might, but their efforts were for nothing.
The moment finally came when we were standing face-to-face with him at his office.
For his part, he tried his best to defend his actions.
He even told us that we were hapless traitors after everything he did for us.
What he said was arguably right, all because he gave us a purpose.
But it means nothing once you realized that eventually, he'll turn against you in the end.
With conviction, you finally silenced him with your own hands.
His body turned cold, as a pool of blood surrounds his corpse.
You were in tears after what you did, and all I can do is to give you a small measure of peace and comfort.

A period of peace followed, with no signs of war between the families in the city.
Every member of the commission had accepted this radical change of power, as they all cower in fear of our influence.

All was fine for the both of us, and we hope that this tranquility would last.
But as with destiny, nothing is certain.
Even though you have no more enemies that stood against you, a hidden foe always lies in wait.

Three years had passed, and you had changed for the worse.
Greed and power got the better of you, as our followers revel in sin and temptation brought about by your example.
Slowly but surely, you became the very tyrant you swore you would never be, which saddens me the most.
Finally, the time came when I have to do what I must.
Right now, I am in front of the final door where you are waiting for me.
This is it, the hour when you will meet the judgment of my blade.
As I slowly opened the door, I found you sitting calmly like a king on his throne.
The Jeon Y/N who I cared for all my life is all but gone, replaced by this arrogant wretch that looks at me with pure arrogance.
"You certainly took your time to get here, noona. I'm sure my men were able to offer you some amusement at the very least." You said with a venomous smile on your face.
"Enough. You know why I'm here. It's time for me to put an end to you for good."
"Haha. Look at you, acting like a true deliverer of justice. Honestly, it does suit you better, Minji-noona. How I wished that you would continue to work at my side."
"After all that you did? Never. The Y/N I knew died long ago." I coldly said to you.
"I see. Well then, I'll give you one last chance for you to join me. You know very well of the life we had before we were accepted as members of this society. We were poor, pushed around like we are worthless parasites who had no right to exist. I thought that we would never get out of it, as we were fated to live such a cruel life."
"But then, an opportunity came by, and with it, we became criminals with a sense of purpose. Our adoptive father tried to mold us into his perfect pawns, just like he did to the ones before us. They were useless to him, but we weren't. We were right to put an end to his schemes, because he never deserved the quality of our talents. But as time passed, I realized that we could do more than even he would not dare to imagine. Yes, I can finally say that I had surpassed him. Not bad for someone who's being bullied into submission at the slums before, right?"
"What's your point then, Y/N?"
"Hah. My point is we are destined for greatness. It doesn't matter to me whether people perceive me as a good or a bad person. The only thing that's important is that no one will dare take away everything that I worked so hard to get. I can share this glory with you, noona. All I need to hear is for you to say yes."
It was then that I knew that you are beyond reason.
Your words brought sadness and pain to my heart, hoping that a small part of the person I knew still dwells in your heart.
But alas, it was forever gone.
Casting aside the lingering doubts within me, I vehemently refused your offer.

I thought that it would be a duel for our lives, as you prepared to point your gun towards me.
I quickly closed the distance between us, hoping to give you a simple mercy by ending it swiftly.
But at the last moment, you dropped your gun, just when my blade was about to stab your heart.
I never understood why you did that.
Was it because you never had intention to fight me, or was it another reason entirely?
I will never know the answer.
As my blade pierced your chest, I noticed a tear fell from your eye.
I was puzzled when I saw it, for I never thought you would do such thing at the end of your life.
Maybe you realized that you were wrong after all, and the only way for you to atone yourself was through death.
As I stared at your remains, a feeling of sorrow engulfed me.
By killing you with my own two hands, I too, broke the vow that I made to you.
I was supposed to protect you, not just from physical threats, but from the corruption caused by the power that you had gained.
Yes, all this would not have happened if I did more for your sake.
Still, it's too late for regrets. What's done is done.
There is however, one last thing left for me to do.
I will put an end to this cycle of greed that had permeated our minds, that I promise you.
It is a code of my own, not of silence, but of repentance.
