Y/N walks out and picks up a bowl.
"Hey Jack, are you awake?" Y/N asks towards the couch where Jack was passed out.
No response.
Y/N sighed and put the bowl back. Jack tended to hide the good serial so Y/N could never find it.
"Corporal tiger-pants to Captain danger and Marshal heat-ray! Jack! Y/N! are you guys reserving?!" A voice announces through the walkie, catching Y/N off guard and and waking Jack up.
"Quint!" Jack realizes, fumbling up and over some boxes to get to the walkie.
Y/N grabbed it. Jack stands up and rushes to their side.
"Quint! were here! Y/N on the mic, Jack is here too!" Y/N said into the walkie. The two smiled at each other and waited for a reply.
"Y/N! Jack! yes!" Quint shouted over the walkie.
"you're not dead!" Jack said, snatching the walkie from Y/N's hands. Y/N didn't realize how happy they were to hear a voice other than Jack's. To know their only other friend was actually alive. tears pricked the corner of their eyes.
Y/N realized Jack was crying too as he talked to Quint on the walkie.
Of course Quint had to pull a joke in reply to Jack's genuine relief.
"We're on the way!" Jack announced, setting the walkie down.
"What!" Y/N shouted, confused.
Jack ran over to the board he had been using to map out the town and figure out where all the monsters were.
"Jack, Quint's house is so far, there is no way we will make it without getting eaten alive." Y/N stated, walking over to him.
Surprisingly, Jack had a lot more of the town mapped out than Y/N thought, and already had a path to Quint's house planned out from a while ago. He REALLY wanted to see his best friend.
Jack took a while to dramatically explain how dangerous it would be to Y/N and some of his plushies, but that was fine with Y/N, they didn't mind letting Jack be dramatic. It was good entertainment.
"Time to suit up!" Jack stated with a grin.
For the next 10-15 minutes, Jack and Y/N got ready to adventure, just like any other time they had gone out, but this time they brought extra supplies in Jack's backpack and Y/N's shoulder bag for just in case.
"Let's boogie." Jack gave Y/N a thumbs up before grabbing the zip-line handle and ridding it down, hitting the fence with his feet and falling in the process. Y/N laughed and climbed down the ladder, running over to Jack to make sure he was okay.
"Yup, all good," he wheezed as he stood up, a bit out of breath from the fall.
The two ran through town, avoiding monsters and zombie hoards. As they trucked through a field, Jack hummed a tune Y/N couldn't figure out, but it was annoying.
"Jack can you not," Y/N glanced at him. Jack shut up and stopped moving, so did Y/N.
A few yards away from the two stood a dozer.
"Uh oh, Dozer, crazy strong, thick skin to protect the internal organs, they eat zombies." Jack began explaining, more for himself than anything.
The Dozer slammed his fist onto the ground and Jack and Y/N both jumped, a bit startled.
"And possibly still breathing people like us," Y/N whispered harshly to Jack, lightly pressing his shoulder as the two turned to run.
"Luckily they're slow and dumb, so we will just be turning and fleeing to live another da-" Jack started but was interrupted by Y/N saying something.
"Jack wait!" They spat, grabbing him by his backpack and pulling him back before he ran into another Dozer.
"GET DOWN FRIENDS!" Shouted a voice from afar as bottle rockets were shot at the Dozers. Jack and Y/N looked at each other excitedly then to where they had heard the voice, it was Quint!
"Move quickly! While the enemy is disoriented!" He continued shouting, shooting more rockets at the dozers from his roof.
"His timing is impeccable!" Jack noted to Y/N, who nodded their head in agreement as the two high tailed it for Quint's back yard.
Y/N and Jack jumped the fence but were faced with another problem. Barbecue night. And on the menus, Jack and Y/N-cabobs!
"You guys are horrifying!" Y/N groaned, taking out a hockey stick Jack had given them for just this reason.
"But it's not your fault your undead, so we're not gonna kill you," Jack continued, taking his out as well.
"Just gonna ask you to, step, a, side!" Y/N finished his sentence, hitting a few zombies out of the way. Jack did the same and the two made their way through the yard towards Quint's back door.
"Whoa!" They both yelped in unison, seeing the enormous man- zombie? In front of them.
"Coming through!" Jack yelled, pushing the man with his hockey stick. It didn't do anything, Y/N tried to join in and push as well but nothing! He wouldn't budge!
The Zombie reached for the two after a moment and that startled Y/N. They grabbed the water balloons full of a secret mixture and threw them at his face. The first two hit him, but the last one he knocked away.
Y/N pulled Jack to the side as the balloon hit the ground and the zombie tripped on it, nearly flattened them both.
"Go go go!" Y/N shouted as they pulled Jack through the sliding glass door of Quint's house.
Quint slammed it shut behind them. Jack and Y/N tripped over each other as they tried to slow down before the hit the table, causing them both to fall to the ground.
"Quint!" Y/N and Jack shouted, standing up.
"Jack! Y/N!" Quint shouted back, hugging the two. The three had a big group hug before pulling away and doing their three-man-hand-shake.
Y/N glanced behind Quint and gagged, pointing out the zombie licking the glass desperately.
"Let's go, to the lab!" Quint called happily, leading his friends up to his room and away from the zombies.
Quint flicked a ball as they entered his room- er- lab. The ball rolled, setting of a series of happenings that ended up just pouring him a drink.
As his drink was pouring, he began explaining what he had been doing with his time.
"I've begun classifying the strange beings that now inhabited the area by genus and species. Next, I'll grade their skill sets and abilities!" He smiled, taking his cup and taking a sip.
"Cool cool, fun fun," Jack started, pausing to take a sip of his drink.
"Uh, so, buddy, where are your parents?" Jack asked, his joking tone dropping as he asked the serious question.
"They were on a cruise, remember? So I must believe they're still out there safe." Quint replied, drawing on his board.
"But-?" Y/N began, but was cut off by Quint.
"It is what I choose to believe," Quint cut them off, glaring at the two sitting on his bed.
Jack nodded and Y/N looked down at their feet.
"And, what about that weird babysitter?" Jack asked, trying to ease the tension.
"Oh, she got zombified straightaway." Quint said, not taking his eyes off his research board.
Jack laughed awkwardly and stood up.
"Bud, this place is spooky quiet," Jack began, walking up to Quint and getting his attention.
"Let's blow this joint, head to the tree house for some video game time!" He placed his foot on a box to exaggerate his point.
"Impossible, my research is here." Quint protested, pointing to the ground. Jack groaned and looked to Y/N for help.
"Quiiiiint!" They began, standing up and walking over, placing their arm on Jack's shoulders.
"Jack has perfected his own neon summit-drip slushy formula!" They bragged, Jack smiled and Quint raised an eyebrow with interest.
"Yeah, extra sugar, triple caffeine, guaranteed eye-spinning gamer rush." Jack rolled his eyes dramatically and smirked at Quint.
Quint then set down his cup and stood straight.
"I'll gather my things."
Jack turned to Y/N and the two high fived before going to help Quint get his stuff.
