"You look down, [Name]-chan. Is something wrong?"

It was just before class, and Izuku was hovering over your desk with a concerned expression. You hadn't really been aware of it, but you must've been scrunching up your brows or staring off into space for too long.

"No, don't worry," you smiled. "I'm not down. Just trying to think of a plan to get ready for the Sports Festival."

"Ah, so that's what it was..."

"What about you, Izuku-kun? I know your Quirk injures you pretty bad, so how've you been training so far?"

The freckled boy stiffened up, letting out a weary chuckle. "Well... I haven't really focused much on my Quirk, now that you mention it. Realistically, I just don't think I'll be able to improve much on it in less than two weeks. I've mainly just been doing strength training and trying to prepare myself for certain scenarios."

"Yeah, that's pretty much what I've been doing, too. Ah-good morning, Katsuki-kun!" The blonde had just stepped into the classroom, and you waved over at him enthusiastically. He stared at you for a moment, confused, then saw that Izuku was right beside you and immediately scowled. He walked over his own desk, ignoring you altogether.

"Y-You've got guts, [Name]-chan," Izuku mumbled. "Calling out to Kacchan like that..."

"Well, seeing as we hung out for a bit yesterday, I was hoping we'd be on better terms," you frowned. "But I guess not."

"Eh? With K-Kacchan?!"

Izuku was looking at you as if you were insane, which was understandable, especially from the standpoint of someone who'd been tormented by the blonde for so long. You still didn't know all the finer details of what had gone down between the two of them. Maybe one day Izuku would trust you enough to tell you everything.

"We kind of ran into each other by the park in your neighborhood," you explained. "I joined him on his jog, even though he was constantly trying to get rid of me, and we got food afterwards. It's not like I was under the impression that we were suddenly best friends or anything. Just was hoping that he'd be a little... I don't know, less of a dick?"

"So that's what happened..." Izuku heaved a sigh. "Still, it's amazing that you were able to convince him to do even that much. I've never known Kacchan to tolerate being around anyone, especially someone that he's known for such a short period of time..."

You laughed. "I guess I'm just good at being pushy."

He flashed you a wobbly smile, then Aizawa walked in and announced that it was time to begin homeroom. A lot of the schedule for the next while was just normal classes, presumably to allow the students to conserve their energy and give them extra time to prepare for the Sports Festival. Maybe if you pestered Katsuki enough, he'd finally give in and agree to train with you. Not that you'd actually use your Quirk on him but fighting one of the strongest people in the class was sure to give you some great experience.

Lunchtime rolled around, and you were going to sit with your usual group, though you'd promised Kaminari and Kirishima that you'd hang out with them at lunch tomorrow. Izuku and the rest went to grab a table while you were still getting your food. The guy waiting ahead of you in line looked oddly familiar, and it took a little while for you to remember where you'd seen him from. His wild, indigo hair stood out a good deal, after all.

It's the guy who declared war on our class...

"Is there something you wanted from me?"

"Huh? Oh." You hadn't even realized you'd been staring, and you stood a step back, a little flustered. "Sorry, I just recognized you from the other day. You came over to Class 1-A to talk about the Sports Festival. I'm [Name]," you introduced, extending your hand out. "You said you're from the General Department, right?"

The boy's expression was apathetic, for the most part, but you noticed the way his jaw clenched when you brought up your class. "Yeah," he murmured. "I am from the General Department." He hesitated for a moment before taking your hand. "Shinsou Hitoshi. Though I doubt someone from the hero course would care to remember my name."

You could sense the bitterness in his tone and made sure to smile extra bright. "I'll remember it for sure. I have a pretty good memory, Shinsou-kun."

"I see. Good for you, then."

You were nearing the end of the line, and Shinsou had already grabbed his tray. You hurried to collect your own once you'd gotten all your helpings and stumbled after him.

"Shinsou-kun," you called out. "Would you like to eat with me and my friends?"

Shinsou cocked a brow, indigo eyes widening slightly. "You want me, someone from the General Department, to sit with kids from the Hero Course?"

"I don't really see what that has to do with anything. I can introduce you to everyone, and they're all really friendly."

"That's fine." He turned, glancing back over his shoulder. "But... I appreciate the offer. See you around, [Name]."

You slumped your shoulders, a tad dejected. Maybe you'd been too overbearing? But it really seemed like he had a personal vendetta against those in the Hero Course. It made sense. With the way your powers worked, if you'd taken the entrance exam and failed, you'd probably be pretty bitter about it, too.

You headed back towards your own table. Still, it's not like you were giving up that easy. Shinsou seemed like he was probably a pretty interesting guy. One way or another, you'd get to know him.

You'd tried asking your classmates about it, but other than Izuku, who still couldn't fully control his powers, it seemed like everyone was going to train their Quirks. You didn't really know how to do that, at least not without another person. Maybe you could practice on random people that you ran into on the streets? It probably wasn't the nicest thing to do, but... it's not like you had that many options, either.

You'd been walking with Izuku, Uraraka, and Iida to the train station these past few days. Izuku headed in the same direction as you, so you'd end up riding a few stops together. He was a sweet guy, and you really liked him, but you noticed that he always got extra nervous and blushy when it was just down to the two of you.

"Izuku-kun?"

"Y-Yes!" he squeaked.

You laughed. You'd barely even touched him on the shoulder, and he was already bright-red. "Sorry, didn't mean to surprise you. I was just thinking, since you can't really train your Quirk directly, maybe the two of us could spar and do other things to prepare? I'm trying to hide my Quirk up until the Sports Festival."

"Oh, yeah... that's true." He furrowed his brows at you. "Um, but if the two of us were to train together... do you mean like fighting?"

"Sparring or something, yeah."

"B-But I wouldn't want to hurt you, [Name]-chan." He stopped to realize what he'd just said, then furiously shook his hands. "N-Not that I'm trying to say I'm stronger than you or anything like that! Just, um-"

"It's fine," you giggled. "You're definitely stronger than me physically. I don't know if I'd even be any good to practice with, but I just thought the idea of training with a friend sounded nice." You smiled again, and Izuku's freckled cheeks flushed even further. He cast his head to the side, timidly averting your gaze.

"Yeah," he nodded. "You're probably right about that. I'm not sure how much use I'll be either... but we can probably figure something out together. Right?"

"Of course!"

You grinned ear-to-ear and excitedly clasped his hands in your own. Izuku began outright steaming from his ears, so crimson-faced that you were afraid he was going to pass out. But he was too adorable for you to want to let go, so you squeezed his hands and marveled at all the agitated expressions he was capable of showing.

"By the way," you said to the boy who was practically melting into a puddle. "Do you have Katsuki-kun's number by chance?"

This seemed to jolt him back to his senses. "You want... Kacchan's number? But... why?"

"Just wanted to thank him for putting up with me yesterday. It was surprisingly fun, but it doesn't seem like he'll ever talk to me in class."

Izuku frowned. "Um... I don't have his cellphone or anything, but since the two of us used to play when we were younger, I know his home phone number."

"That'd be great!"

"A-Are you sure?"

"Yep, that's more than enough! Thank you, Izuku-kun!"

With what was probably the closest expression to judgment you'd ever get from Izuku, he gave you the angry blonde's home phone number, and then two of you eventually said goodbye at your separate stops. You were so excited that when you got home, the first thing you did was plop down onto your bed and start dialing the number.

A woman's voice picked up. "Hello?"

"Ah, hello," you greeted. "Sorry for the sudden call. I'm a friend of Katsuki-kun's, and I was wondering if I could speak to him for a little bit?"

There was silence from the other end, and then the woman nearly exploded in your ear. "Friend of Katsuki's, you say?! Katsuki actually has a friend?! And a girl, no less...! I can hardly believe it-Masaru, get over here! There's a girl calling for Katsuki!"

You could hear another voice in the background-muffled, but very clearly male. Katsuki's father, then. "Eh? Are you sure they didn't just dial the wrong number?"

"There's no way! She said Katsuki's name for sure!" The woman pressed the phone back against his ear, and her voice shifted into something gentler and less brash. "Just one second, dear. I'll go grab him for you." She moved the phone again, but you could clearly hear everything she said next. "KATSUKI! GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE! THERE'S A GIRL WAITING TO TALK TO YOU ON THE PHONE!"

"Huh?! Who the fuck is it?"

"What the hell are you asking stupid questions for?! You're keeping her waiting, you little shit!" She spoke back into the receiver again and it was taking every ounce of willpower for you to not burst out laughing. "So sorry about that," she apologized. "He's coming down right now."

There was more chatter in the back-you could hear Katsuki's crude voice above everyone else's. He was arguing with his mother even more loudly now, but eventually the voices stopped, and you heard a deep, raspy sigh as Katsuki picked up the phone.

"What the fuck do you want, [Name]?"

"Oh! You knew it was me!"

"Who the fuck else would it be? You're the only dumbass in the class who even tries to talk to me." He adjusted the phone in his grip, then grunted in confusion. "Speaking of... how the fuck did you get this number in the first place?"

"Izuku-kun gave it to me."

"WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK-"

"Listen, listen," you laughed, realizing you'd have to recover quickly. "It's only because I asked him to, and he remembers your house number and doesn't have your personal number or anything like that. I wanted to have the chance to talk to you again since I had a lot of fun hanging out with you yesterday! But sorry, I realize getting your number this way was kind of underhanded, ha-ha."

He inhaled sharply. "I don't have shit to say to you if you hang out with that fucking nerd."

"What, really? You're judging me just based off one of the people I'm friends with?"

"Yes. Just the thought of that asshole pisses me off, and now you're telling me he gave you my number? I'm really gonna have to kick his ass after this."

You gripped your phone tightly, nibbling on your bottom lip. "Oh, please don't do that. As tough as you act, I don't see you as the type who enjoys hurting people. And this was my fault anyways since I kept pestering him into giving me your number. You know he's not the kind of person who can refuse."

"Whatever," Katsuki snapped. "Just don't call me again."

"Well, I won't call you on your home phone if you add me to your contacts."

"Why the fuck would I do that?!"

"Because, um..." You pursed your lips in contemplation. "Because if you don't, I'll just keep spamming your home number?"

"I'll block your ass."

"I can just call from a different device. It's not like I'll have forgotten the number."

"You fucking-" Katsuki let out an exasperated sigh, and you chuckled, imagining just how huffy and worked up he must've been right now. "Fine. I'll add you. Is that what you want, stupid girl? I'll add you so stop calling my home phone or else my shitty parents will never let me hear the end of it."

You smiled inwardly. Yay, I won!

"Okay! Add my number and text me so that I can add you back!"

"Fucking fine. Bye."

He clicked off of the call, and you fell back on your bed, happily kicking out your legs. The chime of a new notification went off, and you smiled as you looked back at your screen.
