The silence was tense , as expected. He seemed uncomfortable, though you enjoyed seeing discomfort in those trying to impress you. This was the point in having dinner with him , allowing him to open up to you through alcohol and a less demanding setting. Your intentions through this dinner were to test his patience , nerve and anger. Beside all things , you were a great judge of character, and you could tell this would be interesting.
As the night was fairly warm, you were led to a table on the terrace , high above the city lights.
You lit a cigarette, offering one to him, he declined
"Cigars for me, thankyou"
"Ya know, appearances are decieving Onceler" You said.
"In what sense?" He asked
"I heard of the Beanpole who sang in the town square with his invention. I know how carried away you get when the money first flows in, its addictive. However, to be frank Onceler, your appearance is rather annoying to the eye. It is rather unflattering I must say" You said monotonously.
He looked at you, ammused and slighty offended.
"I'd say that my current attire is a grand improvement from my old clothing, appearances do matter Y/N" Onceler said
" You're right there , everyone has there own approach to business I guess" The table went silent as the waiter poured two glasses of wine you smiled at the waiter, winking at him.
You enjoyed the look on Oncelers face, he seemed jealous. You smirked
"I'm sure the waiter will be free after his shift Y/N" Onceler smirked.
"I beg your pardon?" You questioned
"I mean it's not news to anyone of your, hm , indulgences" Onceler simply said
He was pissing you off now , but you had dealt with such comments before , there was an easy solution.But before you could talk back he spoke once again
" Though I think we both know you crave bigger men" He smirked
You were fully aware of the double meaning , and you couldn't deny, he was attractive. Though you maintained you stone cold gaze and facade.
"Now thats where you're wrong, Mr Onceler " You said in a demeaning manner
" I grew my company on my own , by my own. I didn't ask for handouts and I definitely didn't rely on anyone" You took pride in your independance, you had always been this way. You enjoyed making men uncomfortable, someone had to put them down or they would take over.
"I see" He said
You dug into your food, staring out at the bright lights of the city below. Onceler just stared at you , taking in your appearance. He hadnt seen anyone quite like you, so dominant and independent. Since his rise to success, less and less people stood up to him , so you were a change of pace. He felt the need to impress you but kept a low facade, not showing weakness.
You lit another cigarette, engaging in conversation about the recent stock market rise and other business related chat. As the night went on, you both became more talkative and spoke of other topics .
"So Y/N, I have always wondered why you are so independant, you dont take shit and i respect that . But why are you this way?" He enquired
You glanced at him , the first personal question someonr had asked yoy in a long time.
"Well , frankly, I am so independent because I had no other choice , reliancd was not an option for me , so I grew on that and became the person I am today. This is why my business grew as such. I deal with every issue , deal and contract personally, so there is trust between my company and the customer, perfection is guaranteed every time, there is no room for failure."
"I see" He said. He paused for a moment before he murmured " must be lonely".
"Not really, I have ways of fullfilling my needs " You smirked.
"Would you care to educate me?"
"Strictly professional, Mr Onceler" My face returned to its normal cold gaze.
"Well if our collaboration is to go through, I'm sure you can show me your ways of fullfillment" You couldn't lie, this man was hot, but you had standards. Maintaining professionalism was a priority.
" We'll see about that"
If this was the game you had to play, so be it. But you were concerned in your own demeanor, as you hadn't acted this way in , well forever.
The night went on and you called it, Saying goodnight and going your seperate ways
" I do look forward to seeing you more often Miss L/N " Onceler shook your hand softly
"Likewise Mr Onceler , may our collaboration bring us both success"

As you sat in bed, you couldn't help but find annoyance in the conflict inside of you, you vowed that you would uphold your standard and keep things strictly professional. Your eyes fluttered shut.
