PART FOUR
N.E.W.T.s

" y/n's point of view "

I SAT AT the kitchen table for lunch with Fred and George in early July, anxiously chewing the nail on my thumb.
Angelina had told me she had gotten her N.E.W.T.s results that morning, and I had been waiting for my owl ever since.
"Y/N, it might not even come today." George said as he took a bite of his sandwich. "Who knows?"
"You saw what Angie said, she got hers today. I bet Harry and the others got their O.W.L results, too." I sighed.
"Why don't you come down to the shop with us for a bit?" Fred suggested. "Take your mind off things and hopefully when we come back up, it'll be here."
So after lunch I followed the twins downstairs.
"What if I failed?" I said.
"Doubt it." Fred scoffed. "You were studying all year."
"What if there was something wrong with my exams and they can't give me my results?"
"Nah, that didn't happen." Said George as he started neatening a shelf of Skiving Snackboxes. "You'd know."
"You'll have your results by the end of tonight, I'm calling it." Fred said and he took away the 'gone for lunch' sign from the front window.
I sighed, but sat down behind the front counter.
"You know, if I do get the right amount of N.E.W.T.s, you'll actually have to hire someone to work the register." I pointed out to them as people were already wandering into the store.
Diagon Alley had been becoming shadier and shadier recently, especially with the break-ins and kidnappings, which were most recently Florean Fortescue, who ran the ice cream place, and Mr. Ollivander, the man who everyone for the last several decades had bought their wands from.
The store had filled with a decent number of customers when Angelina walked in.
I spotted her from across the store as I was serving a customer, and my face lit up.
"Have a nice day." I put on a smile, handing the boy in front of me his paper bag as Angelina hurried over.
"Y/N!" She was smiling widely and I left my spot behind the counter to hug her.
"Angie!" I was smiling too as she wrapped her arms around me in a hug.
"Wow, this place is amazing." She said, still smiling as she looked around the shop. "Those twins have really outdone themselves this time."
"Aw, Angelina, you'll make us blush." George said as he and Fred both approached us.
"Hi, George." She greeted him with a smile.
"Hi, Angelina." He nodded back. Fred and I exchanged a glance.
"Hey, Angelina." Fred spoke up.
"Oh. Hi, Fred." Angelina tore her eyes away from George for a second. "The, uh, shop's looking great, guys."
"Thanks, Angie." Fred said as he walked around her and George, who was still staring at her, and stood beside me. "So, what have you been up to?"
"Not much. I was waiting for my N.E.W.T.s to come in before I did anything." Angelina explained, still glancing at George. "But they're here!"
I groaned. "Mine still haven't come."
"Oh, that's too bad." Angelina frowned and the twins started walking away to get back to their shop.
"D'you know if Alicia's got hers?" I asked.
"No idea. I haven't heard from her in a few weeks." She shrugged. "She said she was going to visit Lewis."
My lips turned up into an amused smile as two girls approached the counter, where I moved to stand behind again to serve them.
"Are they finally together?"
"Not to my knowledge."
I sighed as one of the girls handed me a small handful of coins.
"Surely, if she's visiting him when he's at home..." I said. "Anyway, Ange, how'd you go in your N.E.W.T.s anyway?
"E's and A's." Angelina replied. "I did get an O in Charms, though."
"That's great!" I smiled, then groaned again. "I need my results so badly."
Then, as if on cue, there was tapping on one of the windows by the door, and we looked over to see an owl sitting on the windowsill.
I jumped to my feet again, abandoning the register and heading for the door.
I left the shop and looked at the letter attached to the owls leg. It had a Hogwarts seal and was addressed to me.
Miss Y/N Black
Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes
Diagon Alley, London
I took the letter and the owl flew away, and I rushed back into the store.
Once I was standing behind the register again, Fred made his way over to me.
"Is that it?" He asked and I nodded, staring down at the envelope.
"Can you open it? I don't wanna read it." I practically thrust the letter into his hands.
He chuckled, and opened the back of the letter.
I watched anxiously as his eyes moved along the piece of parchment inside when he read it, raising his eyebrows.
"What? Is it bad?" I asked and he handed me the letter.

My mouth fell open as I read over my results. I had to re-read them maybe three times before it clicked.
"I got the marks I need to be a Healer." I said and Fred started grinning.
"Congratulations!" Angelina exclaimed and I looked over to her.
"What's going on?" George asked, leaning over the railing of the second floor.
"Y/N got her N.E.W.T.s back!" Fred called back. "She's gonna be a Healer!"
"Hey! That's great!" George smiled. "Good job, Y/N!"
"Thank you!" I then looked back to Fred. "I've gotta write to Moony about this."
"Go on then." Fred smiled, he then leaned in and kissed me. "I'll watch the register for a while, yeah?"
I felt like I was about to combust into flames I was so happy.
It made me wish my dad, who the Ministry now knew was innocent, was still alive.
