The next day, you visited your mother with S/N.
You stood beside her hospital bed, watching her sleep peacefully. She was still in a coma, her breathing was steady. The sunlight streaming through the window made her face look soft and serene.
S/N pouted as she recalled the events of the Sports Festival.
"Really, Mom! Nee-chan lost after promising me she'd win," she huffed, crossing her arms. "Well, she did say she was tired..."
You chuckled and poke her cheek playfully. "Keep your voice down. We don't want to wake the people in the next room."
After spending some time in quiet companionship, you finally checked the time. It was time to leave. "Come on, S/N, we have to go."
S/N sighed but stood up. "Bye bye, Mom. I'll see you next week."
Before stepping out, you took one last look at your mother. The sunlight bathed her face in warmth, making her look like she was simply resting.
'I hope you're having the sweetest dreams, Mom...'
As you and S/N exited the hospital room, you turned your head slightly, only to lock eyes with a pair of heterochromatic ones.
"Oh, Todoroki-san."
"L/N-san."
As you and S/N walked outside the hospital, Todoroki stood there, his usual nonchalant expression in place. S/N immediately tugged on your sleeve, leaning in to whisper but loud enough for him to hear.
"Nee-chan, he's really handsome."
You gave her an unimpressed look before pinching her cheek. "Shut up." Your tone was flat, void of any emotion.
S/N whined, rubbing her cheek. "You're so mean! But seriously, are you two dating?" She grinned mischievously, eyes darting between you and Todoroki.
You sighed, pinching her cheek again. "I said shut up."
Todoroki blinked at the interaction, unsure how to respond.
You turned to Todoroki with an apologetic smile "Sorry Todoroki san, this is my sister S/N," you looked at your little sister whose eyes darted to you and him.
"S/N, this is my classmate Shoto Todoroki"
Todoroki head slightly bow to S/N, since she's younger "Nice to meet you"
S/N, unfazed, turned to him with a bright smile. "Uhm, do you wanna join us? We're going out to celebrate Nee-chan's successful sportfest"
Todoroki hesitated for a moment. His mind drifted back to the conversation he had with his mother earlier that day.
He had sat beside his mother's hospital bed. She looked at him with warmth, her gentle smile bringing a sense of peace he rarely felt elsewhere.
"Mom,what if I met my fated person?" he asked suddenly.
Rei blinked, then smiled knowingly. "Have you met someone who makes you feel comfortable just by being near them?"
Todoroki thought for a moment before nodding. "There's this girl. I just, I want to know what you felt when you met yours."
Rei's expression softened, but there was a hint of sadness in her eyes. "He was kind, gentle, soft-spoken. He smelled better than anyone else, and he was so patient with me." She exhaled slowly. "But... your father had already chosen me before I could even confess."
Todoroki's fists clenched slightly. "What did you do after?"
Rei met his gaze. "Nothing. Because Quantum was already in love with another woman. Even if someone is your fated person, that bond can still be broken."
Todoroki looked down, deep in thought.
Rei reached out, gently touching his hand. "If you're serious about this girl, you need to speak up. Let her know how you feel."
Todoroki hesitated before asking, "What if this girl, was Quantum's daughter?"
Rei's eyes widened in surprise. "What? I mean do you two get along? Considering everything?"
He nodded. "Yeah. She told me about it, and she's kind. She wants to get along with me."
Rei looked down at her lap, a soft smile forming. "That girl, she's just like her father. So kind." She glanced at her son. "Does she make you feel warm too?"
Todoroki paused, then shook his head. "I don't know. I just wanted to understand how you found yours."
Rei closed her eyes for a moment before smiling. "If you weren't thinking about her so much, would we even be having this conversation?"
Todoroki felt heat rise to his cheeks, scratching the back of his neck. "I guess not."
Rei chuckled at her son's cute expression. "Don't give up on this person like I did."
Todoroki met her gaze and nodded firmly.
Back in the present, he looked at you and S/N.
"If L/N is okay with it."
--------------------
S/N's eyes sparkled as she ran ahead, dragging you toward a claw machine filled with plush toys. She pointed at a cute stuffed animal inside a small white rabbit with a blue ribbon.
"Nee-chan! I want that one!" she declared, practically bouncing in place.
You sighed but stepped forward, inserting a token into the machine. The claw lowered, gripping the plush slightly before slipping, letting the toy fall back into the pile.
S/N pouted. "Again, again!"
You tried two more times, but the claw refused to cooperate. Letting out a small huff, you stepped back. "It's rigged."
Todoroki, who had been silently watching, stepped forward. "I'll try."
S/N gasped dramatically. "Prince Charming to the rescue!"
You flicked her forehead. "Shut up."
Todoroki ignored your exchange and inserted a token. He moved the joystick with precision, eyes locked on the plush. With one smooth motion, the claw grabbed the rabbit and carried it all the way to the prize chute without slipping.
S/N gasped as he picked it up and handed it to her. "Here."
She took it with wide eyes, her face slowly turning pink. "T-Thank you, Todoroki-san..." she mumbled, hugging the plush tightly.
You watched the scene unfold, a small smile tugging at your lips. It was rare to see S/N flustered like this.
Todoroki glanced at you, catching your expression. "What?"
You shook your head. "Nothing."
S/N brows furrowed at you "Nee-chan, don't just smile like that It's embarrassing"
You're eyes twicthed at her in annoyance.
--------------------
After a while you and Todoroki sat at a nearby table in the arcade, watching S/N excitedly play one of the games. It was nice to see her so carefree, enjoying herself.
As you watched, your thoughts turned to Todoroki. You turned to him and asked, "How did the meeting with your mom go?"
Todoroki glanced over at you, a small hint of warmth in his eyes. "It was fine," he said, his voice was soft, "We had a nice talk."
You nodded your head, a soft smile appearing on your face. "I'm happy to hear that," you said, genuinely pleased for him. You could tell that it meant a lot to him, and seeing him open up even just a little made you feel glad.
Todoroki gave a small nod, his gaze drifting back to the game S/N was playing. "Thanks," he said quietly. You both fell into a comfortable silence, watching S/N.
--------------------
After playing with many claw machines S/N excitedly dragged both you and Todoroki toward a small photo booth, her grip surprisingly strong for her size.
"Come on, come on! We need to take pictures to remember this day!" she insisted, practically shoving the two of you inside.
You sweatdropped but didn't resist, stepping in while Todoroki quietly followed. S/N squeezed in between the two of you, grinning as the screen in front of you counted down.
The first picture was normal S/N flashing a peace sign, you with your usual neutral expression, and Todoroki didn't make a pose not knowing what to do.
The second picture, S/N puffed her cheeks, making a silly face while you blinked at her in mild confusion.
Then, right before the final shot, S/N smirked.
At the last second, she suddenly ducked and pushed you toward Todoroki.
Your head bumped into his shoulder, and before you could move away, the camera clicked.
The screen showed the final picture, you and Todoroki, faces inches apart, his warm eyes staring at you in mild surprise while you looked slightly scared.
You immediately stepped out of the booth forgetting to close the curtain, rubbing your forehead. "S/N."
S/N barely held in her laughter until you lightly smacked the top of her head.
"Ow! Nee-chan!" she groaned, rubbing the spot where you hit her.
Meanwhile, Todoroki stayed inside the booth for a moment. He reached into the machine and pulled out a strip of photos. His gaze lingered on the last one, and for a brief moment, a rare smile crossed his lips.
S/N, still sulking from the smack, caught the expression and blinked. Her cheeks turned slightly pink.
'Todoroki-san is really handsome when he smiles,' she thought, stunned.
Stepping out of the booth, Todoroki walked over to you and held out one of the photos. "I already payed for it, you should keep it"
You looked at him, then at the picture. After a short pause, you took it.
"You didn't have to but thanks."
S/N wiggled her eyebrows, but one glare from you shut her up instantly.
--------------------
The sun was starting to set as you and S/N reached the train station. You both turned to Todoroki, offering him a smile.
"Thank you for walking us here," you said, your voice calm and sincere.
Todoroki nodded, his usual stoic expression softened just slightly. "It's fine. I enjoyed this day."
S/N grinned and waved at him. "Thanks, Todoroki-san!" she called out as he began walking in the opposite direction, heading home.
You both watched him until he was out of sight. Once he was gone, S/N sighed contentedly, her eyes sparkling. "I feel like Big Brother Todoroki never had fun like that before. Especially after eating cotton candy. It's like he's a kid, just experiencing new stuff."
But when S/N didn't get an answer, she turned back to look at you only to find you already walking ahead.
She pouted, running after you. "Nee-chan, you're so mean!" she whined, trying to catch up.
"If you keep talking, we'll be late cooking dinner!" you called back, not stopping your pace but feeling a small smile tug at your lips.
S/N groaned dramatically, but you knew she was just teasing. She always did this when she wanted attention. You both carried on, walking side by side.
