Emerson's phone began ringing. She let out a sigh, pulling her phone from the bed behind her, and she saw that it was Bonnie calling her. "Bon? Everything okay?"
"Well, let's just say I had a semi-ghost situation... someone halfway in our world, who really wanted to stay here for real. This is all hypothetical, Emmy. But what if there was a way to unlink my life from Elena's, and, what if the very small price to pay, was us freeing a soul from hell."
"It's crazy, because the only person who could break that link is... no."
"Yes."
"Bonnie, no. Please don't tell me that my psychotic brother, the brother who killed almost my entire family, is back. Kai can't be..."
"Well..."
"Great. Just great. I'm on my way."

"Damon?" Juliet walked down the stairs of the Salvatore house to find Damon sitting on the couch in front of the fire. He looked up at his wife when she approached him.
"What is it?"
Juliet simply sat down beside Damon and grabbed his hands, placing them on her stomach.
"Julia, what are you doing?" Damon asked, confused.
"Listen..." Juliet simply said. "Just listen."
Damon looked at Juliet in confusion, but nonetheless, focused on Juliet's stomach and focused his enhanced hearing, and suddenly, he heard a faint heartbeat. It was small and faint, but it was there.
"Oh..." Damon whispered, shocked. "But... that's not possible..."
"I'm pregnant, Damon." Juliet confirmed Damon's suspicions. "Anything's possible. Look at Rose and Klaus, or Eliza and Jeremy. I'm pregnant."
"You're pregnant." Damon repeated, still in shock. "Is it mine?"
"What?" Juliet slapped Damon's arm gently. "Of course it's yours, dumbass."
"Right." Damon looked down at Juliet's stomach again. "We're going to have a child."
"I can't tell if you're happy or not." Juliet drowned, beginning to feel saddened.
"We're going to be parents?" Damon muttered. Juliet still tried to decipher his mood, but Damon's expression was blank with shock.
"Yes, um... can you please tell me if you're alright with it or not? This is freaking me out."
Damon looked at Juliet, and before the Otiginal could realise what was happening, Damon stepped forward and smashed his lips onto Juliet's.
"I'm guessing that means you're happy?" Juliet grinned.
"Of course I am. I never thought I could have a child of my own, but here we are." Damon said softly. He placed a hand on Juliet's stomach. "I can't wait to meet you, my little prince."
"Prince?" Juliet scoffed. "More like princess. We're going to have a girl."
"No, he'll be a boy."
"No, she will be a girl."
"Boy."
"Girl!" Juliet playfully rolled her eyes. "I am carrying this child in my stomach. I can tell it's going to be a girl."
"It's a boy, trust me."
"Damon, it's a girl, I know it is."
And that was how most of their evening was spent... playfully arguing about what the little miracle in Juliet's stomach would become.
