Darkness...
That's all I saw. All I felt. All I knew.
I woke up, suddenly aware of the liquid in my lungs. I heaved the water all up onto the floor... Hang on, the floor is moving. And so are the walls!
It seems that I am in some kind of box-like cage that is moving up.
It's so dark...
So cold...
When will this end?
I sit in a corner of the "Box" for a while longer, hoping that I would see something new soon. Then it hit me... I didn't know my name!
No matter how hard I tried I just couldn't think of anything that would suit me.
I groaned in frustration, how could I forget something so simple as my NAME!
I looked up to see something flashing through the cage bars. It was a red light. That seemed to be coming closer by every second, and fast!
'I'm going to crash', I thought dramatically.
I screamed as the box came in contact with a door above. I held my head, hoping that it would stop vibrating from the impact. But something triggered in my mind as it did. A faint voice seemed to be repeating a string of mumbled words as if it was a prayer. I only caught one word: Wicked. What did that mean? Was it important?
I was dragged from my thoughts as suddenly the red light above me changed to green and the door above the box/cage opened with a huge whine. Sunlight burst through the opening and I was temporarily blinded by it, having to hold my hand up to see clearly what was above me.
I heard whispers...then the whispers grew to loud voices, rough ones at that.
"What the shuck?"
"What's a shuckin' girl doing here"
"She's pretty"
"I saw her first shuckface, I call dibs"
It was all too much. So many voices ringing around me that I couldn't think straight. So I covered my head again, trying to stop the voices from reaching my ears, but it didn't work.
"Hey shanks, shut it!", a voice rang loud and clear through the mass of voices from above. I removed my hands from my head to see what was happening, everything was quiet. Suddenly a boy jumped down, holding a hand out to me.
"Hello Greenie!", this boy seemed familiar but I couldn't figure out why?
I just stood there frozen on the floor not daring to do anything.
"Well, are you going to take my hand or stay here forever?", the boy asked with an amused look on his pale face.
So I reached out my hand to him, and took his hand lightly. Something happened right there and then, I know so. But I barely had time to contemplate it when he yanked me out of the "Box" onto the higher ground.
