a/n: sorry i haven't been writing as much. i started watching sherlock. i'm also very depressed. so lack of motivation is in play here.
third persøn all the way thrøugh:
"tyler?" josh asked. his soft voice of melted marshmallows filled the air of the rotting white house, his eyes fluttered open. butterflies to tyler. the younger of the two went to the mattress on the grounds laying with josh.
"yes josh?" tyler asked, josh nuzzled his head into tyler's chest, tyler smiled pink as he lightly tugged the bow fading shades of purple atop josh's head. the curls more there since they weren't washed in days. tyler's eyes were tired. as they always were.
"c-can we start to go today?" he asked. tyler bit his lip, knowing that he couldn't say no to that. knowing that josh could die right now and they wouldn't even be trying to save him while he did.
"let us eat first, okay? i took some bread and things from my house when i left. it's okay." tyler said softly. josh nodded to the white tone, as it soothes him as much as tyler playing with his hair. he smiled, tyler smiled back, placing a kiss on his forehead.
tyler went to the other side of the room to his backpack, opening it up and taking out a baggy of bread. he took out two slices, one for him and one for josh. a cold draft flooded into the room from the hallway, josh shivered. he wrapped the blanket around himself as tyler came over with the bread.
"it's not much but it's something." tyler said, josh nodded, gently taking the bread and taking a small bite. tyler notices how long it took for josh to eat it, forgetting how weak he actually was. how the grey settled in and the wind was stronger than it ever really had been. josh looked at tyler, who didn't even realize he was getting lost in josh's mocha eyes.
"you okay tyler?" josh asked, tyler broke his trance and nodded, swallowing the lat part of his bread, josh nodded, nibbling on the middle put of the bread, slowly pulling out the mushy inside and eating it first. then slowly making his way to the crust.
"you know how adorable you are when you eat?" tyler asked. josh chuckled softly, smiling at the younger boy. knowing that he should be taking care of tyler and not the other way round, but it was the other way round, and no one could fix that. it's just how their plot had went out throughout their lives.
tyler sat on the mattress right next to josh, cupping his chin after he finished eating his slice and softly kissing his plump lips. josh smiled into the kiss, but wrapping his arms around tyler, going in more, and tyler didn't expect it but was all on board for it. chuckling when they let go, both of them catching the breath they lost to each other.
"let me get the wheelchair, and we can start okay? as long as you're ready." tyler said. josh nodded, getting his bag and stuffing the blanket inside.
"i want to go now, so i have at least some kind of chance of seeing the backyard of this house again." josh said, tyler nodded, leaving him in the bedroom and wandering the crooked, creeping hallways and rooms of the rather large white house. he walked into the master bedroom, across from the room josh was in, who was pacing, regaining some sort of strength for himself.
"josh, come down the stairs if you can, then we can start on the grass." tyler stated, leaning in the doorway of the bedroom. josh's face flushed purple, and his eyes grew, not expecting tyler to be back so fast. he slung his backpack over his shoulder, knowing that he'd need a refill on oxygen as soon as possible.
"can you replace the tank for me, tyler?' he asked. tyler nodded, immediately going to his friend, holding his hand as josh helped him replace the now empty tank. they had six left, but knew they needed to somehow ration them, even though they never would be able to, since time is a thing.
"there. ready?" he asked. josh smiled, the corners of his eyes crinkling up like the past on paper behind him.
"i've been ready." he said, tyler helped him up off the mattress and down the stairs to the back of the house, by the swing set. tyler set up the wheelchair, knowing josh needed as much strength as he could get, and started to wheel him. aiming for the opening in the trees that lead to the beach in the first place, and went to the deranged village of their childhoods. full of hits and screams, and trapped aliens on the wrong planet.
tyler didn't want to run just yet, he needed to save strength too. no map. no way of knowing where they'd end up, but it'd be okay. he sensed two more people with him and josh, wandering behind him. but he knew they wren't there, to him anyway. he didn't bother to look.
"tyler, how far away is the hospital?" josh asked, looking up and cocking his head back to look at tyler in the mud, mahogany eyes.
"i don't know, but 911 doesn't come out all the way over here. so this is what we have to do." tyler explained, josh knew this, but when along with it anyway. he did that, just so he wouldn't have to talk so much. josh never liked talking, he found it useless and as something that only made it all worse, but tyler proved him wrong time to time on that one.
the two wheeled and walked in silence for a while, tyler not getting tired and josh looking around at the fields around them, seeing trees and structures miles in the distance. signs and little cars as ants so far away. josh and tyler hardly remembering how society was away from the village. josh knew more than tyler, but tyler was in awe. wanting to run with the chair, but knowing it's too far away and that they'd not be able to get there for more than a day.
every once in a while tyler would check on josh, making sure he was still breathing and that he didn't need a replacement. knowing that it was worth it if he died here than in the house. were they'd never tried at all, instead failing as they tried. josh clutched his stomach out of anxiety, but didn't mind. he felt navy when the thought of tyler getting annoyed with him because he had to push him this far flooded into his head, making him want to cry but knowing it'd make tyler sad, so he held it in.
"josh, josh are you okay?" tyler asked. josh looked up with watery eyes. tyler stopped, giving himself a break with his legs but kneeled in front of josh, taking his hands into his. a b-flat in the air.
"i-i'm sorry tyler." he managed to get out. tyler wrapped his arms around the older boy, letting his tears stain his jacket, letting him calm down as he kissed the purple hair softly. the alien crying human tears, feeling human emotions, being human. the human alien, and the friend. tyler being the space craft of alien-like home for the alien. it all being okay in a different place with different emotions, if any at all. for how dark the sky was getting.
"there's nothing to be sorry about. none at all. don't worry about it josh. i'm not mad, if i kill myself trying to get you help i'll die a happy man. and i want you to keep wheeling, okay? i'll be your wheelchair in the sky." tyler said, trying to make josh's un-avoidable death sound like something he would endure before him, which they both knew wouldn't happen. it's just a thought that might've made it a tint more pink that it all really was.
"i don't want to die. i don't want you to die. why do we even have to die? why can't it all just be normal for once?!" josh asked, holing onto tyler's jacket, crying softer now. more pastel blues in the mix of his rain.
"because we were;t made to be normal, or at least okay in general. but that's fine. we're gonna live for as long as we can, got me josh? lets go live a little longer." tyler said, placing a kiss on josh's pink tinted lips and going back to the handles of the chair, starting to walk again. the sky's grey stratus clouds making it seem like it would rain again, but it wouldn't be.
the two kept walking and walking, as much as their legs could carry. the small town miles and miles away, almost teasing them because of the silhouette in the distance. the blue of the sky made it seem blue, when really there would be an array of colors waiting for them. nothing is what it is at first glance after all.
"tyler, do i need a refill?" josh asked suddenly, he knew he didn't. he just wanted to see tyler again.
"nope you're all good buddy." he said, leaning down and kissing josh's purple curls. making the older boy blush roses, but lighter than the colors of the ones on the side of the vacant road.
"how long have we been walking?" he asked. tyler shrugged, but remembered josh couldn't see him.
"i don't know i haven't kept track. but a while, my legs are fine though. i've ran for a longer time non stop than this. this is easy." he stated, josh smiled pink knowing tyler was currently okay. but it because navy as those stories and truths came to his head.
"i'm sorry tyler." josh replied. tyler sighed a dark shade of red.
"it's okay josh. i'm okay now." he said. josh knew this was a lie. coming from the tired eyes, sighs, and long passings of no emotion and sulking he knew tyler was indeed the opposite. he wasn't sky blue and pink. he was navy and crimson. a lion laughing at him. with a rock hitting his head eternally.
"no you're not tyler." josh stared. tyler took a hand off the handle and ran it through his muddy hair.
"but i am around you." he said. josh side-smiled at that.
"yes because i make it go away. i make it salmon pink. i keep it okay until i leave. that's why i need to get better." josh said. tyler knew it was true, but didn't know if josh would be mad at it or not.
"that's not the only reason why you need to live josh." tyler said, he walked a little faster because he wanted to run away from the hurricane in his chest.
"i need to live for you tyler. not myself. not anyone else." he said. seth looked at castiel, a moment between them.
"you do need to live for yourself josh. you're worth yourself. you're worth so much you don't need to die. so what if it's going to happen anyway. you still deserve to live." tyler said. knowing he should be taking his own advice, josh's left hand came up and squeezed around the one on the handle.
"depression is a side-effect of cancer." he said. tyler chuckled at the remark, knowing all too well.
"depression is a side-effect of the lives who don't need anything else to pile on. depression is misery's company." tyler said. josh nodded at this, knowing all too well that it was true. the navy it brings is a color no one should have to endure.
"i don't want it anymore." josh said, he was looking at the sky now. staring up at the stratus clouds.
"me neither, but look at us." tyler said, josh laughed at this. knowing how much they were doing just for it to get better.
"it's worth it, isn't it?" josh said. tyler smiled at josh's tone. knowing it was indeed genuine in front of that navy color.
"yes. yes it is." he said, and before josh knew it tyler started to run, making them both pink. josh was laughing, making it turquoise. turquoise with a sugary taste.
they ran until tyler saw a small diner on the side of the road, making him walk and go right into it, not realizing they'd been walking for so long.
"how may i help you two?" the woman at her reception said, her fake lipstick smile and blonde hair screamed her annoyance with being there. but it was all she had.
"a table for two please." tyler said, she smiled and nodded, getting two menus and leading them to a small table by the window. where trees were aligned and the town has little dots of color in it.
"we're close!" josh said, tyler chuckled, placing a small kiss on his hand as the wheelchair was folded up next to the booth.
"thankfully." he said. josh nodded as a different waitress came over. piercing green eyes and lavender hair.
"hey, nice hair!" she said to josh, who smiled up at her in full pink. she smiled back genuinely, making tyler a little magenta red brown.
"what can i get you two to drink?" she asked.
"a coke for me and a water for him please." tyler said, fake smiling all the way through. josh did all he could to not laugh.
"okay and to eat?" she asked. josh looked at tyler, giving him a nod. knowing he wanted whatever tyler was getting.
"two grilled cheese sandwiches for the both of us." he stated. she smiled and wrote it on the pad.
"thank you, your order will be out soon. business is slow today." she added, taking the red-leather menus and going to the kitchen to put the orders in.
"she was flirting with you." tyler immediately said. josh smiled and laughed, instantly grabbing his hand.
"oh i know, i just didn't want to upset her." he said, placing a kiss on tyler's nuckles, making the younger boy blush. the waitress stood their stunned as she held the drinks in her hand.
"oh my gosh i-i am so sorry." she said, placing the drinks on the table before her trembling hands dropped them. she fidgeted to get the straws from her waist pockets.
"oh no it's fine! we just didn't want o upset you!" josh stated, she smiled awkwardly at them.
"it's fine really, you two are very cute. your food will be out soon. sorry again." she said, laughing awkwardly and walking away. the two boys knowing she was upset.
"we need to give her a big tip." tyler said, josh nodded, taking a sip of his water.
"okay here's your food. enjoy!" she said, then quickly left to go talk to a waiter but the front counter. the two ate in pink as more people came into the diner.
the table next to them was empty, and there was a crying devil with a comforting angel there.
