Mitch's POV

I woke up the next morning and instantly sat up, turning towards G. I felt myself relax when I noticed she was still sleeping. I ran my hands through my hair as I thought of what has happened.

G and I went on our first mission where she was stabbed and shot. The same people we went after, came back and kidnapped her. She somehow escaped after being tortured for twelve days. When she returned, she wasn't herself. She tried to kill herself. She cried in front of me. She told me the truth about her mother. She even told me her real name.

Part of me believes that the reason she has opened up to me, telling me things about herself, even crying in front of me, is because she trusts me. But, the sadistic side thinks that G has been through too much for a girl her age and just had a moment of weakness.

I was brought out of my thoughts when I heard G start to wake up. "Rapp," she said as she tried to sit up. I jumped up when she gasped in pain. I helped her sit up with her looking at me strangely the whole time.

"You okay?" I asked, suddenly realizing how close we were.

"I'm fine," she stuttered. She looked at me before looking down at her blood-stained shirt. She slowly lifted it up and peeled the gauze partly from her skin.

"Not bad," she sighed as she pressed the tape back to her skin.

"What?" I asked, watching her closely.

"I meant the stitches you did. They're pretty good considering the circumstances," she shrugged with a small laugh.

"How do you feel?" I asked after a few seconds of neither one of us saying anything.

"I'm okay," she said, turning to her side and slowly swinging her legs around, her feet touching the ground. "The pain is mostly a dull ache. Every once in awhile, I take too deep of a breath."

She shrugged as she slowly stood up. I heard her laugh as I quickly jumped up to help her. "I'm fine, Rapp." She smiled. "What?" She asked when she caught me staring.

"Nothing," I stuttered. "It's just. . . I don't think I've ever heard you laugh. I've seen you smile, but it's not usually a genuine one."

I smiled when I saw her cheeks grow slightly red. "Thanks, I guess," she said as she reached up a tucked a piece of hair behind her ear.

I cleared my throat, making her look up at me. "We should probably get going. We can go into town and get supplies then get back on the road."

"You're right," she nodded. "There is a safe house right on the state line. It's about 300 miles from here."

"Sounds good. We shouldn't stay in the same place for long," I said, making her let out a small laugh.

She looked down and sighed. "And I should probably change into something less. . .bloody."

G's POV

Once we left the hotel, we drove to the nearest town. We pulled over when we got to a little shopping mall that had stores, a gas station, and a cafe.

"Here," he said, handing me a hoodie from the back seat. "This will cover the blood on your shirt until we can find you a new one."

"Thanks," I smiled before slipping on the jacket. Once I put the jacket on, Rapp got out of his seat and walked around to mine. He opened the door for me and gave me his hand, helping me out of the car. I bit my lip when I felt him wrap his arm around my waist.

"You don't have to," I started but he cut me off.

"You need the support, G." He sighed. "I know how you hate admitting when you need help, but you do. You can lean on me without it looking weird."

"You know," I said, looking down. "I told you my real name for a reason." I looked back up at him to see him already watching me.

"Are you sure?" He hesitated to ask.

"Yeah," I shrugged as we continued to walk. "Plus, if people overhear you calling me G that might raise a few flags."

He looked over at me and smiled, letting out a small laugh. "Whatever you say, Olivia," he added with a smirk as he said my name.

* * * * *

As we walked through town, I could feel my wound pulsing. When I couldn't take the pain anymore, I stopped walking and grabbed Rapp's arm.

"Mitch, wait." I said. With one step, he was back by my side. He looked around the busy street before looking back at me with worried eyes.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," I stuttered. "I'm just a little. . .dizzy."

"Okay," he said under his breath. He looked around before wrapping his arm around my waist, supporting most of my weight. He slowly led me over to a table outside of the café and helped me sit down.

He instantly knelt down and felt my forehead. "I'm going to go inside and get you something to drink, okay? I'll be right back."

"Okay," I smiled weakly at him. I watched as he hesitated. "Mitch," I said making him look at me. I reached over and intertwined our hands. "I'll be fine," I whispered looking down at our hands. He took a deep breath before finally standing up and heading inside.

I leaned back in my chair and closed my eyes. I subconsciously put my hand over my throbbing wound. Suddenly, I felt someone walk up behind me. By the sound of the footsteps and the way they walked, I could tell it wasn't Rapp.

I opened my eyes and slowly reached for the knife that was on the table. I took a deep breath as I felt him step up directly behind me. I gasped when he wrapped his arms around me and tried to drag me away.

I elbowed him in his stomach, making him gasp out in pain but he didn't let me go. I tried to get out of his grasp but with each move I made, his grip tightened. I gasped in pain when he twisted my wrist, making me drop the knife.

He took out a gun and pressed the barrel right into my bullet wound. I let out a painful yelp as he whispered in my ear, "Shut up, or I swear I'll shoot your little boyfriend."

I looked up and could see the back of Rapp's head. I let out a loud scream, causing many people to look my way. The man started to drag me away as I screamed again, hoping to get Rapp's attention.

Mitch's POV

"Mitch!"

I turned around when I heard my name being yelled. My heart jumped into my throat when I saw a man dragging Olivia away. I dropped the two coffees I was holding in my hands and ran through the cafe. I swore under my breath as I tried to get through the crowd of people running and screaming.

"No!" I yelled as I saw the man lift a white cloth up to her mouth. My blood boiled as Olivia's eyes started to droop. "Olivia!" I yelled, causing her eyes to open. She looked at me before her eyes closed.

I jumped over a table and sprinted across the street as the man put Olivia in the trunk of a car. Right as he slammed the trunk closed, I ran up to him. I turned him around and punched him in the face. He tried to hit me back, but I easily dodged it.

I kicked his knee cap making him gasp in pain. When he fell to the ground, I wrapped my arms around his neck. I looked at the trunk and tightened my grip as I pictured Olivia locked in there.

"You shouldn't have touched her," I said through gritted teeth as I snapped his neck. His lifeless body fell to the floor. I leaned down and searched his body for his keys. Once I found them, I quickly unlocked the trunk.

I ran around and opened it. "Olivia." Her name got caught in my throat when I saw blood. I scanned her body, looking for the source of the blood. "Shit," I swore when I saw that the man had reopened her wound.

"Olivia," I whispered. I cupped her cheek in my hand, trying to wake her up. "Wake up. Please."

I held my breath as she started to stir. I looked around and noticed a lot of people staring at us. I let out an annoyed sigh before gently picking her up bridal style.

She woke up and tried to fight me but stopped when she noticed it was me holding her. "Mitch?"

"I got you," I smiled down at her. I ducked into an alleyway and gently put her down. When her feet touched the ground, I kept my hands on her waist as she swayed back and forth.

"You okay?" I asked, reaching up and tucking a piece of hair behind her ear.

"I will be," she said looking down at the shirt she was wearing. "There goes my new shirt," she scoffed making me laugh.
