Bam and I sat down, staying silent. I pulled my legs up towards my chest, hugging them.
Mr. Lero came over to us, with a smile on his face.
"You two look bored. How about chatting with me for a while, Mr. Bam and Ms. (Y/N)?While we're waiting, do you wanna play a game?"
"Huh? What game?"
"A game? Sounds fun, let's do it." I'm so bored, I could do anything and be entertained.
Mr. Lero chuckled, "Alright let's do the game. Let's guess which regular will be the first to pass through the shinsu."
"If you get it right, I will answer any question you ask. But if I'm right, you'll have to answer anything I ask. What do you think?"
"Sure, let's do it." At this point I'm agreeing to everything.
"What? Really? Sounds good!"
Lero smiles at Bam, who is beaming like a ray of sunshine.
"Then I'll go first. I choose that green girl. I think her name was-"
"Anaak. I also choose her." I point towards the green lizard girl, making eye contact with her.
I clap my hands over my mouth, realizing I just interrupted a ranker.
Dangit (Y/N), why can't you keep your mouth shut for once.
Thankfully, he brushes it off and goes to Bam for his choice.
After surveying the crows, he lands his eyes on the green girl."I also choose that green girl."
"Is there a reason you two are choosing the same person?"
"I just think she has nice compatibility with shinsu." I start playing with my hair, getting bored of waiting for Khun and Rak to pass through the shinsu.
"I have a feeling..."
The green girl then passes through the shinsu like water, proving our point.
Huh...whaddya know...that girl is good with shinsu after all...
"Seems like it's a tie. But since I'm a ranker, I'll answer your questions."
Bam looks grateful that Lero was going to answer his question, and says, 'Did a girl with light blond hair and freckles pass by here?"
A girl..? I spread out my legs, now interested in what Bam and Lero have to say.
"Light blond hair...freckles...I don't think I saw her in any of the tests I was in charge of."
Bam looked dejected, letting out a sigh. "Sigh...I see."
"She might be taking a test somewhere else, don't lose hope completely. I will try to ask the other administrators about her. How about you, Ms. (Y/N)?"
Do I have any questions?
"Have you heard of a family called the Mengubah family?"
Lero looked at me a split second longer then a normal person would, and then lied through his teeth.
"No, I don't think I've heard of that name before."
Why is he lying...
"Bam, do you have any more questions?" asked Lero, clearly trying to avoid the subject.
Huh...
Bam and Lero talk about irregulars and some other common knowledge that Bam doesn't seem to know, and I watch for Khun and Rak to come through the shinsu.
Should I kill them? After all, they could pose a threat to me...It doesn't seem like it though. I look at where Khun and Rak are waiting and study their demeanor. I then look at Bam, wondering what to do. I don't think any of them have a murderous intent...
"Damn it!! How can this useless test eliminate me?!"
I jolt awake from my daydreaming, now looking for the source of sound that startled me.
"I don't know what this BARRIER is all about, but I am strong enough without any stupid powers!! I am the strongest of all the regulars here!!"
Do you want to die? I can give you a one way trip to hell if you want-
"Tch. This guy is seriously pissing me off. Can I kill him Mr. Test Administrator?"
Both Bam and Lero looked at me like I was crazy.
"No Ms. (Y/N), that won't be necessary. I'll handle this."
"How could I be eliminated just because I failed this test? This is nonsense!! But those weak little punks passed the test just by chance? Are you kidding me? Why should I be eliminated when I am much stronger?!"
Lero walked towards the ugly regular, passing through the shinsu barrier easily.
The ugly regular finally took notice of Lero, obviously unimpressed with what was presented. "What? What more do you have to say? I'm sick of listening to your nonsense. You think you're above us just because you're a ranker? Look at how skinny and weak you look."
Oh, he's gonna die-
"Judging by the fact that you passed this kind of silly test, maybe you are actually weak!"
"Haha. This was my last show of mercy, and you don't even have the slightest clue."
Yes...kill him.
The regular had a confused expression on his face, fear showing in his eyes. "...what?"
"Just how stupid are you? Fine, then. I will teach you the hard way so that you understand..."
Shinsu started swirling around Lero, making him look all more intimidating.
"...what powers lie above..."
"...and why you can't go up."
The ugly regular started to sweat, now scared of what is going to happen.
"You can't go up...and you never will," I remember those words being spoken to me some time ago. But by who, and why?
'There is no limit to shinsu. WIth shinsu, you can obtain immortality or god-like powers. There are rumors that Enryu the Notorious can create living beings using shinsu. However, as it is for every living being....we each have our own limits."
"God, we have limits you know! We aren't monsters like YOU." Why do I keep having these flashbacks? Do I even remember what happened before I went into the tower?
"Argh!" A huge headache attacks my head, I exclaim in pain.
Bam looks at me worriedly. "Ms. (Y/N), are you okay?"
Shinsu started swirling around the angered regular and Mr. Lero.
"When one faces a being with infinite possibilities..and discovers their own limits..."
"AARRRGGHHH" The regular starts to shout out in agony, gripping at his head.
"...they fall into despair."
I look to Bam, my mouth opening before I decided to say anything. "I'm fine Bam, I just have a slight headache."
Bam looks at me again, like a lost puppy. "Ok, if you say so..."
"That barrier of shinsu was my last show of mercy."
"ARGGHH!!"
"Before you enter the tower and fall into deeper despair..."
The regular shouts out in pain even louder if that was even possible.
"...Those who don't qualify...should GET LOST."
"Heh." I smiled at those words, hearing those words sounded like a nostalgic tune.
"AHHHHHH"
"Feeling pain? The concentration of shinsu I gave you...is routine above the 30th floor."
The regular kneel down in pain, gasping for air.
"Do you get it now? The reason you can't go up? It's not like you were not strong enough, or your efforts weren't enough. It's just because...you just weren't one of the chosen ones. Go back to the floor you came from. You're not qualified to climb the tower."
"Why...why...Why am I...!! Why am I not chosen! Do you know how hard I've tried to climb the tower? I risked my life to train myself, and I gave up everything I had? There is nothing left for me when I go back!! Not even my wife or kids...Why...why wasn't I...chosen...!"
Lero ignores his cries, walking back towards us.
I glare at the regular who is sobbing like a mess. Shut up. No one wants to hear that.
Lero sits back down with us, taking a quick glance at my hateful expression.
She's going to be a handful, isn't she? "Isn't god cruel?"
"God's an @ss."
Bam looks at me in surprise, while Lero just has a look of, "disappointed, but not surprised."
"Right...when god first shows you the world, it might seem like you can have anything in this limitless world. But one day God appears again and tells you your limit, even though there are so many things that you still want to have."
Bam clenched his hands, opening his mouth with a worried expression on his face."Mr. Lero...Do I deserve to go up the tower?"
Why is he asking that? I mean, even if he isn't a regular, he must've done something to be worthy of the tower.
Lero looks at Bam, his face unreadable. "Well...I wouldn't know. But I'm sure...there will be a time when you also have to stop."
"I just hope that you find what you're looking for...whatever that is. Both of you."
I look at Lero in surprise. I didn't know he was aiming for the father role. "...thanks,"
I mutter.
"What was that?"
"Nothing, nothing." I look for an excuse to change the subject. Ah! "Look Bam! Rak and Khun are finally passing through!"
I run up towards them, waving my hands hello.
"TOOK YOU GUYS LONG ENOUGH!! I WAS HELLA BORED!"
Khun walked right past me, waving to Bam instead. "Hey Bam!"
@sshole. I caught up with Khun, punching him in the arm. "Ow! Geez, try to be more lady-like..."
I clench my fist harder, getting ready to punch him a second time. "You want to be punched a second time?"
Sweating bullets, Bam tried to calm me down. "(Y-Y/N) and K-khun!! C-calm down please!!"
"Ugh." I left it at that, suddenly not wanting to exert any more energy on Khun. Why? Because the author sucks at writing and is burned out.
Khun smiled at (Y/N), unbeknownst to her. It's so much fun teasing her...
✿Bam's POV✿
(Y/N) ran off to Khun and Rak, waving her hands around.
I stood up, grabbing the Black March. "I should go too, Mr. Lero."
Lero smiled, waving goodbye. "Ok. I hope to see you after the test, Bam. And Bam..."
"Yes?"
"I recommend that you don' t become too close to your teammates, Ms. (Y/N) and Mr. Khun. They're both from dangerous families. Be careful."
Especially that Mengubah girl...

PHEWWW ANOTHER CHAPTER DONE BOISSS! I didn't have much inspiration to write until like a few days ago, so this chapter is short and crappy. I still hope that you find some sort of entertainment out of this. But this chapter unearthed some questions about (Y/N)'s past, and what she's going to face. In the introduction chapter, I left out some abilities that (Y/N) has, since those will come in later in the story. Anyways, I'm going to try to make the next chapter longer.
