Y/N was walking along the school hallways quietly, but unlike a few days ago, he was feeling a lot better about himself.
As he was passing by, two students were hastily walking towards him, which made him a bit cautious as to what they're about to say.
"H-hi Y/N. How are you doing?" One of them said nervously, as the other one was looking a bit nervous when Y/N looked at them.
"Hey you two. Um, do you guys need anything from me?" Y/N asked.
"N-no, we just want to apologize to you. T-that's all."
"Why? I don't remember either of you doing something bad to me."
"That may be so, but still, we wanted to say sorry for treating you so badly just a few days ago. After what Jisoo-sunbaenim said yesterday, everyone was convinced that you really were trying to change for the better. I'm sure a lot of people would want to apologize to you too, and we hope you can be friends with us again." The other student said, while bowing their heads in apology.
"Yah, raise your heads, both of you. You don't have to do that, you know. But I truly appreciate you both for doing this. Sure, we can be friends. I promise not to let yours, as well as everyone's trust be wasted this time. Now it's my turn to prove that I really have changed for good." Y/N said, as he shook hands with the two of them before they leave.
Once they left, Y/N was all smiles thinking that his deal with Jisoo had something to do with it.
"Wow, I have to say that Jisoo-noona's influence does have a big impact when it comes to the other students here. Well, I'm not surprised. After all, she's the Student Council President, who's also very popular with everyone in campus. My encounter with her during that day really paid off. Now it's time for me to make the most out of this deal of ours." He gleefully thought to himself.
Ever since the day the two of them struck an agreement regarding Jisoo's offense, Y/N's life at school became much better than he expected. To his surprise, once she herself opted to clear his name, the entire student body took her words as real facts. From then on, everyone seemed to look at him in a new light, which is exactly what he wanted from the start. Even Jo Yuri, the one who caused the misunderstanding, made amends with him after the news broke out. She returned the wallet she stole from him as well, with Y/N assured her that he was willing to let bygones be bygones. With this, the rest of his days became much more comfortable for him. He was no longer the guy whom everyone hates, instead, he gained a lot of friends who genuinely support him.
Of course, that doesn't mean that he's changed completely. Making sure that his deal with Jisoo would be worthwhile, Y/N took advantage of it and confirmed that he's in a relationship with her. The news broke out quicker than he thought, and now the whole campus is talking about them being a good match for each other. For Y/N, this is a dream come true. He never thought that he would have the chance to date the most beautiful girl in the academy. Even his friend, Lisa, was seriously impressed about it when she heard the news.
However, Jisoo is forcefully trying to look happy with these sudden developments. Unable to do anything, she felt sad knowing that Y/N was making the most out of their agreement together. For most of the students, she and Y/N are already considered as the perfect couple. Some even concluded that she was the one who made him change for the better. This, along with all the positive opinions about them made her life at school much different than what she was used to.
"Hey Y/N, want to play baseball here?" Lisa said while mimicking a baseball player with her bat in hand.
"What are you, a kid? You shouldn't be playing here at the corridor, Lisa. You'll get me in trouble again if I agree with you." He said to her.
"Come on, there's no one around here, right? School's dismissed, and most of the teachers are gone. Just toss the ball once so I can try to hit it. I'll be careful not to hit any of the windows." She tried to assure him.
"All right, I'll hold you to it. Just this once, okay?"
"Yeah, yeah. Now hurry up!"
Just as Y/N was about to throw the ball, he saw Lisa looking at him with a frightened expression.
"Huh? Is there something wrong, Lisa?" He asked.
"Yes there is, Y/N. What do you think you're doing, playing baseball in the corridors?" Jisoo said from behind him, surprising Y/N.
"Sorry noona. But we thought it was okay to play here since there's no one around, but I guess we're both mistaken." He said in apology.
"I'm afraid I can't let this slide Y/N, even for you. That includes you as well, Lisa-ssi. Come with me to the counselor's office right now." Jisoo said sternly.
"Y/N....." Lisa said while looking at him in worry.
"Don't worry Lisa, I've got this." Y/N said as he winked at her.
"Well, what are you waiting for. Let's go." Jisoo said, but Y/N was grinning at her as she said that.
"Are you sure about that, noona? You have a lot to say, for someone who managed to break the rules just a few days ago." He said to her with a smirk.
"W-what are you talking about, Y/N? There's no way I would allow you to use that against me!" She said while trying to defend herself.
"Oh but I think I should, noona. How about this then? We'll go with you to the counselor's office right away, but only if you would confess your own offenses there too. I think it's only fair that you do your part as well, am I right?"
Jisoo was all too stunned by his words, and was unable to counter his argument. In the end, she relented.
"A-all right. I'll forget that this ever happened. You may go, both of you. But promise me that you won't do this again."
"Thanks, noona. You really are the best girlfriend I could ever have!" Y/N said happily, as he planted a kiss on her cheek.
"S-stop that! Don't do it when someone else is watching us, Y/N." Jisoo said in a soft tone, making Lisa cringe at the two of them.
"I can't help it, noona. You're just so beautiful for me. Consider it my way of saying thanks." He said.
After this, Jisoo went back to the Student Council office, leaving Y/N and Lisa to go home by themselves.
"I'm impressed, Y/N. Both you and Jisoo-sunbaenim seem to be getting along just fine. I'm pretty jealous myself." Lisa said in a jokingly tone, making Y/N chuckle.
"Yes we do, Lisa. Being in a relationship with the famous Kim Jisoo is the best thing that ever happened to me." He proudly said to her.
"I'm sure it is. By the way, I'm curious as to what you told her earlier, something about her breaking the rules."
"It's nothing, really. Just think of it as my own special way of telling her that she must remain loyal to our relationship." He replied.
"Well, whatever. Just try and do the same for her, at least."
"Of course. I would be a real fool if I betrayed someone like her. Don't worry about it." He assured his friend, as they made their way home.
The next day, at the school library
"All right Y/N, give me that homework of yours right now so I can finish it for you." Jisoo said as Y/N told her to keep quiet.
"Keep your voice down, noona. We don't want to disturb the other students here. But thank you for doing my homework for me today. You don't know how grateful I am for this."
"As if I have any choice, pabo. Now let's see here. Your homework is about history. This should be easy."
"I bet anything is easy for an honor student like you. We, I mean you, should be able to do it so we can head to your home early."
"About that, I don't know what you're thinking when you told me you wanted to know the reason why I was late that day."
"I am curious, noona. But since you told me that it's better for me to see for myself, so I agreed with you. Now, hurry up and finish it so we can go."
"Fine. I'll make sure that you'll be able to ace this one, Y/N." Jisoo said as she began doing his homework diligently.
"That's very kind of you, Jisoo-noona. But I think it's better if you make a few mistakes just in case."
"You have a point. Okay, just watch me finish this in no time." Jisoo said, with Y/N quietly clapping in gratitude.
True to her word, Jisoo was able to finish it much earlier than he thought. Soon after, the two head for Jisoo's home. Along the way, Y/N became increasingly curious as to the reason why she was late before. While he was thinking this, they both arrived at her home, which was something he did not expect.
The house looked very simple but big enough for a small family to live in. Y/N thought that she was from a well-to-do family given her popularity. However, he realized that she's just an ordinary girl who lives a simple but comfortable life like the rest of them.
"Come in." Jisoo said as they both took off their shoes before they enter.
After giving him a pair of slippers, Y/N walked with her towards the living room, while looking at how neat and orderly her house is.
"So what do you think, Y/N? My home looked a lot simpler than you thought, right?" Jisoo asked him with a smile on her face.
"Yes it is, but even so, I'm impressed, noona. Now I'm feeling guilty about the fact that I don't clean my own room regularly." He said while chuckling.
"Well, maybe it's better for you if you start doing some cleaning once in a while. So, are you hungry? Do you want something to eat?" She offered.
"I'm fine, but thanks. If you don't mind, maybe it's time for you to tell me about your reason." He said to her.
"Yes, I agree. Come with me upstairs, Y/N. There's someone I'd like you to meet." She said.
The two of them went upstairs, as Jisoo led him towards a room that was near her bedroom. Once they entered, Y/N finally met the person whom he thought is very special to her.
He saw an old woman lying on a bed, who was sleeping when they entered the room.
"Y/N, I'd like you to meet my grandmother. Halmoni, this is Y/N, the one who I was talking about to you before." She said.
The elderly woman, who is in fact her grandmother, smiled upon hearing her voice, as she tries to look at them from where she was resting.
"Jisoo-ya, welcome home. Oh, and it's nice to finally meet you, dear boy." She said in a slow and calm voice.
"It's good to meet you too, ma'am. My name is Park Y/N." He said as he went beside her.
"I'm going to prepare some food for my grandmother, so can you look after her for a while, Y/N?"
"Sure, noona." He said, as Jisoo went downstairs to prepare for dinner.
"So Y/N, my granddaughter told me that you became her boyfriend, just a few days ago. I hope that you two are getting along fine." She said to him.
"Y-yes, ma'am. I made a promise that I will look after her, and that's exactly what I plan to do for our relationship." He said while feeling a bit of guilt with his words.
"Thank you, dear. She's very precious to me, you know. My granddaughter may look cold and serious all the time, but deep down, she's a very kind and caring person to everyone. She would put the needs of others before hers, and that I am so proud that she is like that to the people she meets. But sometimes, I fear that she's not taking care of herself well enough, which is something I'm worried about. So when she told me that she finally has a boyfriend, I felt relieved that there's going to be someone who will care for her too."
Her words made Y/N feel like he was about to cry, as he felt touched by everything she had said about Jisoo.
"Just promise me one thing, my dear. Please, look after her while she's at school. There will come a time when I will no longer be by her side, and that she will need someone to rely on besides myself. I have faith that you'll be able to do so for her sake. Looking at you now, you seem to be a very responsible and caring boy, and that she is fortunate to have known someone like you, Y/N."
"T-thank you for your kind words, ma'am. I don't really deserve your praise, but thank you for having such faith in me." He said.
Jisoo's grandmother smiled at him, with Y/N trying to hold himself together as Jisoo entered the room.
"Sorry that I took so long. Are you all right, Y/N?" Jisoo asked him, noticing that he's looking uncomfortable.
"I'm all right, noona. I'll be waiting for you downstairs. Again, it's good to meet you, ma'am." He said as he bid goodbye to her.
"I could say the same, my dear. Thank you." She said, with Y/N simply nodding back at her with a forced smile.
As soon as Jisoo was done feeding her grandmother, she went downstairs, only to see Y/N looking very pale.
"Y/N, tell me the truth. Did my grandmother say something to you?" She asked.
"Please don't get the wrong idea, noona. Your grandmother is a very kind and gentle person. She told me some things about you, and that she's proud to have you as her granddaughter." He replied.
"Oh....." Jisoo paused for a moment, with Y/N thinking that the time is right for him to say something.
"First of all, I'm truly sorry for everything that I put you through this past couple of days. I realized that all I did since then must have caused a great deal of stress for you, which made me feel very guilty upon giving it some thought. As for our deal, forget everything about it. I'll delete all the evidence of you sneaking inside the school, and you have my word that I won't tell anyone regarding it."
"Y/N, you-"
"I know, noona. I was a fool for thinking that I was a changed man. For all my talk of being a nice person to everyone, it doesn't change the fact that I was taking advantage of you since that day. I kept telling myself that I'm a good person now, but in truth, I'm a hypocrite by forcing you to do all the things that would make me look good to all the students at our school. As for our relationship, don't worry about it. I'll just tell everyone that I simply used you for my own benefit. I don't deserve someone like you as my girlfriend. I know that there are a lot more guys out there who deserve you more than I do."
Jisoo was in disbelief upon hearing all the things that Y/N had told her, as she was shocked upon hearing him feel guilty about what he did. She felt a mix of emotions while Y/N continues to speak.
"But you what, I really had a great time with you noona, even though our "relationship" was not real at all. Even if it's just for a while, I felt sincerely happy that I was able to be with you, and to feel how nice it could have been if you were my girlfriend for real. So thank you, noona. I won't disturb you and your grandmother any further, so I'm going to leave now. Please tell her that I wish her well, and for you too."
After saying this, Y/N stood up and was about to leave, only for Jisoo to grab his arm to try and stop him.
"Please Y/N, don't leave me like this." She said, making Y/N look at her.
Once he saw her tears flowing, Y/N went to try and comfort her, only for her to embrace him tightly.
"Noona, why are you-"
"I don't care, Y/N! Even if everything you said to me is the truth, I won't let you leave me like this! You see, I care for you so much! The only reason I was being strict with you is because I want you to be a person whom everyone will be glad to have as a friend. I wanted you to change, from an immature guy who does nothing to someone who will be kind and responsible for himself and for others too. Maybe it was my fault too, that you saw me as a person who only wants to make you miserable. I too, had realized that I wasn't good enough when it comes to expressing myself. So please, I want our relationship to be real this time. I promise that I will do better for you, for you mean so much to me."
Having heard her confession, Y/N was taken aback by it. He never thought that Jisoo would have such feelings about him, which made him very happy on the inside.
"If that's what you want noona, then let's start dating for real. From now on, I will look after you, for it is the least I could do to thank you for looking out for me. But above all, thank you for giving me this chance. I promise that will do my best to be the perfect guy for you."
The two of them shared a kiss for the first time, a good sign that both are ready to commit to each other for real this time.
After they parted lips, the two smiled warmly as Jisoo felt happy now that they're together.
"But I'll still look after you, Y/N. You never know, maybe there's still a chance that you may go back to your immature self if I didn't." She teased.
"Aww come on, noona! You still don't trust me, do you?"
"I'm just kidding Y/N. I do trust you, for I know that you will care for me now that we have each other."
"Thank you, and I know that you'll do the same for me."
