After the Rainfall: Todoroki's Fate (Episode 21)

Fuyumi: Father, you made it!

Natsuo: Huh, Dad was gonna show up?

Enji: Don't act so surprised, Natsuo. Come here, give your old man a hug!

Endeavor walks up to Natsuo and gives him a big, dad, bear hug. Natsuo groans in disgust as his father affectionately embracing him. Natsuo pushes him away, and begins shuffling away. Fuyumi walks up to her father, and hugs him.

Enji: Come here, baby...

Fuyumi: I miss you, Dad... It's been so long since we were together!

Endeavor lets go of Fuyumi. He walks up to where Rei is laying down. Rei smiles, as her husband leans over her cheek to give her a kiss.

Rei: I'm glad you made it, dear...

Enji: Of course! I wouldn't miss a family reunion for anything!

Natsuo: *Mutter* Wish you said that during all the other holidays you've missed...

Enji: Great! Now, all we need is Shoto, and we can begin!

Endeavor looks around to see that Shoto hasn't arrived yet.

Enji: Uh... Where IS Shoto?

Natsuo: Ugh, that dork... Why's he always so fashionably late?

Fuyumi: The train's are all delayed remember, and we can't contact him. He'll arrive sooner or later.

Enji: Hrng... I should really be stricter with that boy...

Rei: Well, while we're all her we can go out to- *Cough* *Cough*...!

Rei's sudden coughing fit alerts everybody in the room to her aid.

Natsuo: Mom! Do you need water or something?

Rei: It's okay... I've been — *Cough* *Cough* *Cough* — having these coughing fits very frequently... I'm fine.

Enji: Here...

Endeavor leans over to his wife. He places his hand on her chest, and begins protruding a pleasantly warm heat from his palm.

Fuyumi: Father, what are you doing?

Enji: There's probably something stuck in her chest. I'm simulating the heat of efficascent oils to try to warm up her breathing. Maybe her breathing is being barred by phlegm...

Natsuo: I didn't get any of that, but okay?

Rei feels the warmth on her husband's hand.

Rei: Thank you... I think... that feels a little- *COUGH* *COUGH* *COUGH* *COUGH*!

Rei's coughing only worsens. Endeavor immediately retracts his palm from her chest.

Natsuo: You just made it worse, old man!

Enji: I'm-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to-

Rei: It's f-fine — *COUGH* *COUGH* — You d-didn't...! *COUGH* COUGH*

Fuyumi hurriedly gives her mother her handkerchief. Rei covers her mouth with the cloth, and her coughing continues. The coughing persists for a full minute, as her family continues panicking.

After several, violent, ever-escalating coughs, Rei pulls back. She wipes her mouth, but she sees Fuyumi's handkerchief completely stained with red. She gasps in shock after confirming the taste of blood in her mouth.

Rei: *Pant* *Pant... F-Fuyumi, I'm...

Fuyumi: M-Mother, what's happening to you?!

Enji: R-Rei, are you alright? Did I do something to have caused this?

Rei: I... I don't know...

Suddenly, the door swings open again, alerting the Todoroki family once more.

Natsuo: About damn time, Shoto. Get your ass-

Doctor: Mrs. Todoroki?

Rei: D-Doctor?

Doctor: I see that your family has arrived. I'm not sure if they should be here for this.

Fuyumi: Doctor, what do you...?

Natsuo: Come on, Doc, what's wrong with our mom?!

Doctor: Well... the test results have come in. Please, come to the doctor's room so that we may discuss this... it's very urgent, ma'am.

Rei: Y-Yes, of course...

Rei attempts to stand up from her bed, but as she stands up on the floor, she collapses. Luckily, Endeavor was right beside her, catching her before she completely falls.

Enji: Rei!

Rei: *Cough* *Cough* ...I'm s-sorry... for being such a burden, Enji...

Enji: Please, don't talk. Conserve your strength.

Doctor: Mr. Endeavor... I think you'd like to come with us as well.

Enji: Of course! Anything to find out what's happening to my wife.

Natsuo: I want in too, man! I want to find out what exactly the hell is happening to my mom!

Fuyumi: M-Me too!

Seeing the resolve in the Todoroki's eyes, the doctor sighs. He gives in to their request.

Doctor: Very well. Follow me, and please assist Mrs. Todoroki.

The family nods. Fuyumi and Natsuo begin following the doctor outside of the hospital room. Rei tries to hold Endeavor's arm for support, but instead, he lifts her up bridal style.

Rei: Ahahaha — What are you doing?

Enji: Don't waste your energy by walking. Don't worry, I'll bring you there myself, Rei.

Rei: Hahaha... I wish you'd have done this during our wedding...

Enji: ...That gives me an idea.

Rei: An idea?

Enji: After you're out of this hospital, let's renew our wedding vows. I didn't realize it at first, since I was originally only wedding with the intent of producing offspring, but...

Rei looks up at her husband as he is romantically lifting her entire body up.

Enji: I realize... I love you, Rei. I love you, and our family more than anything. I wish I could've realized this sooner, so that maybe our family wouldn't be as broken as it is...

Rei smiles. She holds on tight onto her husband.

Rei: I love you, Enji.

Enji: I love you too, Rei.

With that, Endeavor lifts Rei up, and begins walking outside of her room. Rei embraces her loving husband with joy in her eyes, and even through the pain.

Somehow, the storm seems to grow lighter, even for just a moment...
