"New Year's"

U.A. High School — New Year's Festival

The U.A. New Year's Festival is currently in full swing. Stalls, rides, games; all surround the vicinity. The dance begins in fifteen minutes, and fireworks will light up the sky the minute midnight arrives.

Students roam around the festival, enjoying the school fair. Along with the students are Momo and Shoto; wandering around — holding each other arm-in-arm, and exploring what the festival has to offer.

Momo: Shoto, look! They have crêpes!

Shoto: I didn't know you had such a sweet tooth.

Momo: Ahahaha — Well, it does help me with my quirk after all.

Shoto's smile remains imprinted on his face as he brings Momo to the dessert stall.

Shoto: One chocolate crêpe for my gorgeous date here, please.

Momo: Awww, you knew chocolate was my favorite?

Student: Oh, it's you two. Sorry, no.

Shoto: Huh? Why not?

Student: Read the sign.

The student points behind himself to a signboard at the back of their stall. The sign reads: "We are allowed to refuse service to anybody."

Student: *Mutter* Especially to people like *you*...

Momo: B-But, we didn't do anything wrong. Look, we have the money, so could we just order-

Student: I said no. Now scram, you're scarin' away the customers!

Momo and Shoto notice the surrounding students purposefully trying to avoid them. Momo tries to initiate eye contact, but the students only look away, and begin pacing away faster.

Shoto looks back at the stall attendant in frustration. He then activates his left side out of instinct.

Shoto: Listen, she and I have gone through a lot, and all we're asking for is one goddamn dessert!

Student: Are you picking a fight, idiot?!

Momo: Sh-Shoto, stop-

???: One chocolate crêpe, and make it snappy.

Shoto looks to his side to see Katsuki having ordered. The aggression in the student's eyes dissipates as Katsuki pays for the dessert.

Student: R-Right away, sir.

Katsuki: Damn right.

A minute passes, and the student hands Katsuki the chocolate crêpe. He signals Momo and Shoto to follow, and they oblige. Katsuki then hands Momo the crêpe much to her surprise.

Katsuki: Yaoyorozu, here...

Momo: Bakugo?

Katsuki: I heard what that guy said, and I just wanted to spite him. ...Now, go on and take it; it won't bite!

Momo: Thank you...

Momo reluctantly takes the crêpe away from Katsuki. Shoto then grabs his wallet, but Katsuki pushes Shoto's hand aside.

Shoto: Come on, Katsuki. At least let me pay you back.

Katsuki: I don't need your damn money, okay? I just realized I had brought way too much for my date, and I needed to spend it somehow.
