Zachariel's P.O.V

I couldn't believe my ears when Alexei told me that he was in love with me. I couldn't comprehend what he saw in me. I found myself tedious and unattractive. I was in no position to please a man. Andrew had left me in tatters, and I was still dealing with a lot of emotional baggage. I didn't know if I could commit to someone so soon. There was no doubt in my mind that I was attracted to Alexei, but was I ready to forget about everything and jump in bed with him? I didn't think so. I needed time to heal. I sighed while pondering about the situation. I didn't even realize that Alexei had been rubbing my back.

I groaned, then said to him, "Do not touch me so casually, Alexei." Alexei looked in surprise at me, then uttered, "I thought that we were comfortable with each other, Zachariel." I shook my head, then replied to Alexei with, "Listen to me, Alexei. I trust you, and I want to be with you. I'm just not ready to get physical with you yet. One thing will lead to another if you keep touching me like this. I won't be able to deal with the aftermath if things don't work out between us." Alexei put his hand on the back of my neck and pulled me closer to him. He stared into my eyes, then said, "I already told you that I love you, Zachariel. I won't tolerate it if you take my feelings lightly. I will give you all the time in the world to warm up to me. I won't abandon you no matter what you say or do to me."

I gasped when Alexei kissed me. I shivered when he stuck his tongue in my mouth. I felt a little awkward. It was the first time that I got kissed by someone other than Andrew. Alexei groaned, then said, "I hope that you are not thinking about that bastard at the moment, Zachariel." I chuckled while pushing Alexei away from me. I then uttered, "I see that you are not a virgin, Alexei." Alexei burst out laughing, then responded to me with, "I had my share of flings, Zachariel. I'm a grown man, after all. I never had anything serious with anyone, though. I was waiting for you." It was expected of a billionaire like Alexei to have flings. I wasn't disappointed about it. Fear crept into my heart when Andrew's last words flashed into my mind. "Is it true that I suffocate people with my purpose-driven attitude? What will happen when Alexei finds out how intense staying with me can get?" I asked myself while frowning. I didn't realize that I had been gazing at the sky. I got startled when Alexei grabbed my hand. Alexei placed a kiss on the back of my hand, then asked me, "Are you disappointed, Zachariel?" I smiled at Alexei, then answered him with, "No, Alexei. Everyone has needs. I'm in no position to judge you."

Alexei nodded, then uttered, "I want you to know that everyone I had a fling with signed an agreement stating that they will never come back into my life again. I stopped seeing other people before the kids were born. I have been celibate for almost three years now." "May I ask in which gender you were interested in until now?" I asked Alexei. Alexei nodded, then responded to me with, "Of course, Zachariel. I was only interested in women up till now. I wanted my first experience with a man to be with you." I frowned at Alexei, then asked him, "And what if I turned out to be a serial killer, in the end, Alexei?" Alexei snickered, then replied to me while pinching my cheek with, "You don't have an evil bone in your body, Zachariel. You make people feel safe and secure. You make everyone around you feel like they can conquer the world. You haven't noticed this yet, but many people at the company want to be close to you. I'm happy that you only have eyes for me."

I grabbed Alexei's face, then kissed him deeply. Alexei was the first person to compliment me sincerely. Alexei closed his eyes to savor the moment. He licked his lips, then uttered, "Ah, that's better. You can kiss me all you like, Zachariel. It will bring us closer together. Maybe my wish will get fulfilled sooner than I expected." I groaned while getting up. Alexei smirked when he heard me say, "You have ruined the mood, Alexei. I'll see you in the morning. Good night." Alexei reached his hand out to me suddenly. I thought that he needed help in getting up, so I grabbed his hand. I groaned when Alexei pulled me down. I winced in pain when I landed on top of Alexei. "Are you trying to kill me, Alexei?" I asked Alexei in anger. Alexei sighed while hugging me. He placed a kiss on my neck, then said while running his fingers through my hair, "I'm sorry for not finding you earlier, Zachariel. You must have been so scared. I know how it feels, to be stuck in a whirlwind, not knowing how to survive. We are finally together. I will do everything in my power to make you happy."
