Alexei's P.O.V
I had promised the kids that I would take them to a park on Saturday. I wanted to keep them busy while Zachariel was away. It started raining in the afternoon, so I took the kids to an indoor playground. There weren't many children around due to the bad weather. Genevieve, Jacques, and Dominique enjoyed themselves immensely in the kid's zone with the other kids. I took the kids to a toy store before returning home with them. Jacques stated that he would rather have books than toys. So I took him to a bookshop. The children were too tired to walk by the time we reached the mansion. Bertha and Ocean helped me carry the kids to their room.
I knew that the children would fuss about food. I asked the chefs to prepare some healthy snacks for them. I felt relieved when none of the children complained during dinner. I put the kids to bed after watching a children's show with them. Zachariel had told the kids that he would be home late, so none of them asked where he was. I had tried to call Zachariel in the afternoon to inquire about his health. I realized that he was busy when he didn't pick up. I didn't call Zachariel back because I didn't want to disturb him. I took a long relaxing shower after the kids fell asleep. I went downstairs to make some arrangements regarding our camping adventure with Charlotte after getting dressed. It was almost time for Zachariel to come home. I decided to wait in the living room to greet him. I fell asleep while going through my emails.
I got startled when my phone rang. My heart started to beat faster when I heard Zachariel's shaky voice. I called Cash the moment I got off the phone with Zachariel. I asked him to come to the mansion immediately. Zachariel needed me, and I didn't want to make him wait. I ran upstairs to check on the kids and to get changed. Charlotte looked at her watch when I came downstairs in a suit. She frowned, then asked me, "Is everything alright, sir?" I put on my coat, then answered Charlotte with, "Zachariel became ill, Charlotte. I'm on my way to pick him up. I'll be taking him to a private hospital to make sure that it's nothing serious. We'll be back in the morning. Make sure that the kids don't find out about this. I don't want to worry them. I'll explain everything to them myself when I come back."
Charlotte nodded, then responded to me with, "Take good care of Zach, sir. He's probably cursing himself for bothering you so late." I sighed, then replied to Charlotte with, "I hope that Zachariel will soon realize that he's not a burden to me, Charlotte. I'm crazy about him. I would do anything to make him feel safe and happy." Charlotte smiled at me, then uttered, "I'm sure that Zachariel feels the same about you, sir. He told me that you are the only person who never asked anything in return from him. He said that you make him feel human. He's happy to be alive." I was just about to reply to Charlotte when Cash called me to say that he had arrived. I quickly walked out the door. Cash opened the car door for me, then said, "I have notified doctor Fabian about Zach's health, Alexei. He'll be on standby at the hospital." I nodded, then uttered, "Good, now let's go. I don't know if Zachariel's health has deteriorated since we last talked."
