Chapter 19. Back to reality.

I was shocked when I felt Alexei's tears on my shoulder. I pulled myself up, then said to Alexei while wiping his tears away, "That was my past, and this is my present, Alexei. I know that things happen for a reason. I have learned how to live for myself again. You don't have to cry for me. I will make a name for myself and show the world what I can do. I'm happy that I met you and the kids. You guys made me feel alive." Alexei smiled when I kissed him softly. He grabbed my hands, then said while getting up, "Let's go to bed now, Zachariel. It feels like I just ran a marathon." I scowled at Alexei when he threw his arm around my waist. Alexei put his hands in the air, then uttered, "I wasn't trying anything. I swear." I huffed then walked up the stairs when one of the maids motioned me to follow her. I shook my head when I heard Alexei laugh.

The maid led me to my room, then said, "Charlotte asked us to prepare this room for you, sir. You will find everything that you need in the closet and the bathroom. Good night." The room was beautiful. It was like I was in a luxury hotel. I took a seat on the classically designed bench, then reminisced about everything that happened that night. I kept asking myself if it was okay for me to invest in a relationship with Alexei. I loved the kids, but I was still a little hesitant. I didn't want to ruin their lives by being indecisive. I sighed while thinking that Axel, my psychiatrist was right. It was apparent that I still had issues. I would have otherwise accepted Alexei's advances. I took off my shoes, then walked to the closet. My eyes widened in surprise when I saw that the wardrobe was full of clothes of my size.

I grabbed a towel, then walked into the bathroom. I took a relaxing shower and tried not to think about my predicament. I wrapped a fresh towel around my waist while walking out of the bathroom. I got startled when I saw Alexei standing in my room. Alexei stared at me up and down, then said, "I forgot to ask you what kind of activities you have planned for the kids tomorrow, Zachariel." I nodded, then responded to Alexei while grabbing a pair of boxer briefs with, "The kids need some fresh air, Alexei. So I thought, why not go hiking with them tomorrow morning. I know a place where no one goes. It's a short trail, and it's easy to climb. I'm sure that the children and you will go unnoticed there. The kids will have a blast while watching the beautiful nature and wildlife." I quickly wore the boxer briefs, then turned around to face Alexei. Alexei smiled at me then replied to me with, "That's a great idea, Zachariel. I will notify my bodyguards and Charlotte about it. They can make the necessary arrangements tonight."

I nodded at Alexei while walking towards the closet. I got startled when Alexei grabbed my arm. He leaned closer to me, then whispered in my ear, "You have a great body, Zachariel. Don't show it to anyone else." I sighed while looking at Alexei. Alexei frowned when he heard me say, "I think that you enjoy making fun of me, Alexei." Alexei shook his head, then uttered, "I guess that I should be happy that you are oblivious to everything, Zachariel." I groaned while running my fingers through my hair, then asked Alexei, "What are you talking about, Alexei?" I quickly crossed my arms over my chest when Alexei stroked my left nipple. Alexei didn't stop his actions. He caressed my abs next. I couldn't keep my eyes off of Alexei while he was touching me. I wanted to kick Alexei when I heard him say, "Don't ever change, Zachariel. You are perfect as you are."

I grabbed Alexei's hand, then asked him, "Why does it feel like I sold my soul to the devil, Alexei?" Alexei pulled me closer to him, then said before kissing me, "I'm just showing you love, Zachariel. Please, don't get disheartened." I sighed while looking at Alexei. He was too clingy for my liking. I pushed Alexei away from me, then said to him, "Don't you think that we should dial down a bit, Alexei?" Alexei looked in bewilderment at me. I sighed in relief when I heard him say, "I won't touch you in public, Zachariel. I won't let anyone know about our relationship either. I know what you want and need. I will support you through everything. I'm happy that we talked about our feelings tonight. I now know what I should be careful about." I nodded at Alexei, then uttered, "Thank you, Alexei. I appreciate it."
