If the sun got any brighter, I swore to punch the next person that spoke in the face.

Our trip to Washington hit me like a bus. It wasn't till last night when Alex called to complain about the ugliness of the yellow blazers that I remembered it still existed. Of course, I couldn't cancel and not spite Tony with apathy.

The decathlon students and Mr. Harrison all huddled next to the buses. Alex and Michelle resided elbow to elbow books in hand. Liz coordinated. Cindy and Sally spoke amongst themselves while Flash was desperately tried to maintain everyone's attention that he had lost when Abe cracked a joke.

Avoiding Ned like the plague I played some bullshit plant game on phone, the ones for stress relief but are slightly frustrating.

"Hey, it's Peter," Abe spoke up, capturing our attention to the boy approaching the bus.

Liz snapped out of her conversation. "Peter?"

Jogging up the team, his hands fluttered awkwardly. "Yeah, I was hoping that maybe I could rejoin the team."

"No. No way." Flash stepped toward the flushed boy. "You can't quit on us and stroll up and be welcome back by everyone." He said defensively and couldn't help but agree.

Just as he put down the line, Mr. Harrington shuffled across it as he got off the bus. "Hey, welcome back Peter." He smiled, then turned to Flash. "Flash you're back in first alternate."

"What?" Flash and I said in unison, but mine was much quieter. However, not quite enough to stop Alex and Michelle from noticing.

"Lost the level," I explained, waving my phone. The lanky boy snorted and the curly-haired girl looked at her watch.

Abe laughed. "He's taking your place."

"Excuse me, can we go, already." Michelle piped up, placing her bookmark in the pages of her novel. "Because I was hoping to get in some light protesting in front of one of the embassies before dinner so..."

"Protesting is patriotic." Mr. Harrington nodded. "Let's get on the bus."

Fuck bus rides and fuck Liz Allen for actually caring about this event like a psycho, composited most of my thoughts during the ride. She drilled the already intelligent players with questions until Harrington reminded her to not burn them out. Her dedication was admirable, but my patience was thinner during the morning.

I passed out on Alex's shoulder at some point, which he whined about since his arm fell asleep. But he didn't seem to mind too much, his inner Jewish Mother was content to see me resting.
