We arrived at the second fanciest hotel I've ever been in, the fanciest being the one Tony booked in Germany.
The group split into pairs of two for rooms, a bit awkward for me since apparently everyone had already done this long enough to have their unofficial official roomie. Even Alex paired with Charles without fuss.
Michelle then asked, well told, me that we were roommates. The conversation was curt and to the point (she had to go protest before it got dark). I didn't mind though.
Since the ride had taken a lot out of us, Harrington let us go off to our room for the day.
I unpacked and used and abused the cable privileges. Around six, Michelle came back, slightly sweat, but the same.
Apparently, the protest was against government surveillance. Since the Ultron incident got the government's panties in a twist, they were discussing possible bans and monitors they could put into people's computers.
I called them dicks and she offered to take a protest if another one came up. Before I could say sure, three knocks came suddenly at the door.
"You expecting someone?" I asked Michelle. She shook her head and stood near the door. Static built up in my fingers and I noted the distance from the desk lamp to me. Knock. Knock, knock. If this was another Avenger, I was going to throw them off the railing. I opened the door. "Hello?"
"Get your bikinis, we're going swimming in the pool downstairs." Sally smiled in a floral pink swimsuit and a white towel over her shoulders.
"It's going to be amazing. We're even thinking about taking some candies from the snack bar." Cindy added, bouncing with excitement.
Unlike Sally, who was only equipped with a towel, the ebony-haired girl had brought those along with a robe, goggles, and an extra pair of flip flops. The towel around her shoulders was neatly set on her, contrasting the bright purple of the one piece.
When Flash and Charles passed by chortling with soda cans in hand, I turned to Michelle. She tilted her head. "Group activity for moral."
"I like candy," I said placing my stance on the matter. Before she could, another person joined Cindy and Sally at the doorway. Alex looked normal at first, messy hair, plaid unbuttoned to show a black shirt, book in hand, but then one looked down. The brightest pair of green swim trunks that stopped a few inches above his knees. "Nice trunks."
"Abe wouldn't shut up till I got out here," Alex said with contempt. He wasn't keen on his new roommate but had to switch because Ade and Flash got a noise complaint the last time they roomed together. "I was in the middle of 28 Days Later."
"Hi, Alex." Sally giggled, suddenly out of breath from standing at the doorway a little too long.
"Sally." Alex awkwardly nodded, pulling his arms closer to him. His eyes shifted back to me and I wiggled them at him. "You guys coming?"
"Let's go." Abe interrupted, nudging Sally. He popped his head into our room. "Michelle and Carly, hurry up."
Now Alex had a smug smile as they left, "You heard him, Carly."
I raised a middle finger at him.
Michelle and I both agreed to go. Though Michelle was actually prepared for the impromptu trip, having a swim shirt and bikini bottoms on hand, I had to sport an oversized t-shirt, boxer shorts, and a sports bra.
We creeped out in the most unceremonious way possible. Everyone else had apparently agreed to whisper and hunch like drunken spies. At one point the atmosphere too charged to not be apart of the creeping.
