Wu forbid that Y/n found out before I was ready.
Oh no... Wu.
...
My knock on Wu's door is hesitant and light. I can always come back later. I don't need to do this now. He's probably busy meditating or doing other sensei-y stuff. Yeah, it's probably too early in the morning.
I turn away to escape before anyone sees me. If I'm lucky, I'll-
Too late. I freeze as Master Wu slides the door open and sees me. "Kai?" He takes a step back, inviting me into his room. "What is it?"
"Uh..." no going back now. I take a step into the room and take a seat on a pillow at a kang table. Wu sits across from me. "Can I talk to you, master?"
Wu hums, poring me a small cup of- I take a small whiff- jasmine tea. "What troubles you this day?"
"It's-uh..." how does one go about asking their ancient ninja master on advice to ask their girlfriends to marry them? I swirl the tea leaves in my cup as I think. The different shades of gold marbled in the hot water. "Can you tell me about you and Misako?"
Wu blinks at me. "That is a complicated tale, Kai."
"How much did you love her?"
Another pause. Longer this time. "My brother and I both loved Misako equally." He took a sip of his tea. I did the same. "If you remember, I had written her a letter that had swayed her feelings, but because it was signed by Garmadon, that is who she married." He seemed a bit bitter about the last statement. I winced.
"What is this about, Kai?"
"I- I'm trying to figure out if- how-"
"You wish to marry Y/n?"
I choaked slightly on my tea. "Uh, yes, sensei." I said. "I do. I was wondering if I could have you're blessing?"
Wu's eyes crinkled in joy. I let out a breath I didn't realise I was holding. "Ofcourse you have my blessing, Kai. Though you are both still so young, I see how happy you two are together. How much stronger you make each other. I would be happy to have Y/n officially be apart of our family." He stood and walked around the small table.
I smiled and followed his actions. He pulled my into a gentle hug, it was unfamiliar, but not unwelcome.
"Thank you, master." I said as I pulled away.
"It will be an pleasure to have Y/n as my honorary daughter in law."
I stilled at his words. Wu's eyes brightened even more. "Please, Kai. You, as well as the others, are like sons to me. Plus Nya, ofcourse." I laughed. Then I realised that that feeling from that hug was the same feeling I would have gotten from my own late father.
"Now what are you still doing here? You'll need a ring, or pendant, or necklace or whatever kids do these days, and find a time..." Wu shooed me out of the room. "Lots to do go!"
I went straight to the bunk room, ripping up a peice of scrap paper and a pen I found on a table and sat on my bed.
What to do? Where to start?
I'll need a ring. Sensei was right about that. Maybe I could get Cole to help me with that. He likes rocks and stuff right?
I'll need to get a date set up. Something special. Something above and beyond anything else. This is Y/n. It should be perfect. Something her.
I could take her to our first date? No. Lame.
First I love you? Her old house. Weird.
Fancy restaurant? Cliché.
