Wish On A Star (Kai x Reader)

Jay's pov

I immediately feel drowsy in the green void of Nadakhan's magic sword.

Come on, Jay,

Gotta get the others. Stay awake!

I see Kai and Y/n. They're hugging each other fast asleep under the swords magic, slowly drifting around. They look so happy together. Even asleep. I almost don't want to wake them.

I grab the hot head's shoulders. "Kai," my voice drawls out like slow motion. "Guys, wake... up," Kai's eyes open and he shakes his head to clear it. He then pokes Y/n's cheek to wake her up. She swats his hand away and looks at me surprised.

We go find the others before it's too late.

Your pov

Coming out of the sword was like getting a bathtub full of ice water dumped on your head. Like taking a breath of air after being underwater. Like someone playing reveille in my ear.

As the others congratulate Jay and a group of what I can only guess are the team's replacements. I grab Kai in a bone crushing hug that he's quick to return.

"I'm so sorry," he says into my hair. "I'm sorry I left you that night, I'm sorry I can't keep you safe, for getting you mixed up in all this, I-" I cut him off with a kiss.

"Don't you dare be sorry for anything," I scold him, pushing my face into the crook of his neck. All the time spent in that void as dulled the smell of wood fire that always clang to his clothes. "I'm just happy I didn't lose you," I give him another squeeze.

We look up to the crowd around us. Skylor is there, and Dareth, Jay, a grey haired Lloyd and his mom, Wu, Cole, a man in a red hat who I recognized as the man who first caught the Ninja, Soto, the commissioner, Zane and... other Zane? Zane two?

"Hey," Kai says as he observes the group. He looks at Skylor. "Where's Nya?"

Jay looks at team 2.0 uncertainly before clearing his throat. "She may or may not currently be about to be forced to walk down the aisle to a Djinn wedding ceremony to grant Nadakhan infinite wishes while being called the name of his lost love wich isn't really his lost love as he only cares about the potential power that marriage would grant him in his weird floating city," Jay rambles.

Okay, what?

Jay fills us in on what happened, why Lloyd's an old man, why there are two Zanes, and his plan to rescue Nya. Kai walks over to Skylor when the story is done. "Thank you. I don't know how we'll ever be able to repay you," I squeeze his hand and smile at the redhead.

She smiles back. "Let's just say you owe me one."

"Or a few thousand," 'Ronin' pops in hopeful. "If we're talking denomination of currency." We glaire at him. His smile falls slightly. "What? No reward?"

"You got enough of a reward when you turned in the ninja," I mumbled at him. He shrugged, unfazed and walked away quickly replaced by a brown-clad man.

"Hey, you'd do the same for us. Only with less pizzazz." Dareth says in his laid back tone.

"Ugh, I hate to break up the reunion, but may I remind you we have a wedding to stop?" Jay says impatiently from where he was talking to the commissioner, Wu, Misako, Zane, Soto, and Lloyd. That brought everyone back to reality.
