RECAP
The human dozed on and off while the being turned the rabbit slowly and thought quietly. This was the longest time he'd spent near a human, and probably the closest he'd ever been to one as well. It was strange and caused the being sorrow. Humans were so complicated, they looked so much like him, and could do incredible things together if their minds did not clash. He often dreamt of being accepted into their groups, learning from them, and possibly teaching them things in return...
...This dream, strangely, seemed closer than ever now. Two humans....two...had accepted him, hadn't driven him away, and yelled harsh things. They'd given him food, this wounded one was unafraid in his presence, they trusted him...
The being's heart seemed to swell with a new emotion he had trouble defining, and his eyes stung as this throat closed a bit. Was it the smoke? No, it hadn't bothered him before...hmmm...perhaps it was another emotion he had accidentally learned from being so near to humans.
He dearly hoped it would remain that way.

Returning
"You...really don't understand a single word I say huh..."
Steve sighed as the being only blinked blankly at him again, still curled up in the part of the cave furthest from him. The guy was so skittish, though he could probably crush Steve's skull with one blow. Biting his lip as he thought of a way to try and communicate with him, Steve settled back against the rough stone of the cave wall, feeling his leg throb a little. It was rather warm in here, the being kept the fire burning constantly, for which, Steve was grateful. This complete stranger with godlike powers was working so hard to keep him, a simple human, alive. If only there was a way to ask...why.
An idea flew into his head so suddenly, it seemed as if it had come straight from Notch himself. A grin broke out over the miner's face as he snapped his gloved fingers softly, startling the being, "That's it! We'll start with just names...see if you can actually speak."
White orbs focused on him, the face they were set into looking...confused. Steve pressed on, meeting those unsettling eyes, "Alright listen, listen... Steve." He poked his chest as he said it.
The being's head tilted a little, eyes narrowing a bit. The human was...acting rather odd.
"Steve...Steve...Steve..." Three more pokes.
Then, almost holding his breath, Steve pointed at the being, tilting his own head.
The outstretched finger made the being nervous, but the human didn't seem to mean any harm. He had repeated the sounds that...seemed to identify him. Did he want some sounds that identified...himself...? The being frowned softly. He didn't have any identifying sounds...unless he counted the noises hurled at him when he was being driven away from villages...
