RECAP
"Then follow yer Alpha to riches and rewards!!!"
Adarion turned his steed on its heels, urging it to gallop out of the square, towards the gates of the city, followed closely by Ephrim and the rest of his Blood Wolves. The group of horses made a noise like thunder as their hooves struck the cobbles, some even kicking up sparks with their heavy, metal shoes.
A grin spread over Ephrim's face at the sound. He'd never done something so spontaneous and exciting before...perhaps he should do it more often.
The thunder of their horses was soon matched with the thunder of an open sky as they swept through the gates of the city, out into the vast world beyond....
...heading for a fate unknown.

Following the Demon's Trail
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Adarion, I told you the demon was spotted heading northeast."
"Silence Ephrim...ye should learn t' trust a Blood Wolf's instincts..."
"There were eyewitnesses—"
"D'ye want my help or not!?"
Ephrim fell silent after the obvious command, trying to soothe his startled horse with a few gentle pats on her neck. Adarion swore quietly, rising from the muddy earth as he mounted his own steed yet again, "We ride true north, and that is final. Odrick's pack is already headin' east, and Chrysina's already goin' hot up th' coast. If my instincts ring true..."
Adarion nudged his horse, making it snort, dancing slightly to the side as he stared hard at the distant mountains, "...then we'll close in on th' lil devil from three sides."
Ephrim emitted a quiet sigh. This fool had split up his pack into three smaller groups and sent them hither and thither, seemingly without reason. The idiot would get all three packs of his murdered without a chance...they just had no idea what they were dealing with...
But, then again, he had hired these thugs to act as a wall...hopefully their efforts would at least weaken the beast...enough to clip him with a poisoned dagger and bring him down. That reward was simply too good to pass up.
Without another word, Adarion released a sharp, "Hup!" and his horse broke into a canter, Ephrim's quickly falling into line just behind his. Hooves behind them thudded into line, carrying their riders quickly towards the mountains, never mind the slight chill.
Ephrim's eyes narrowed quietly at the sight of the far-off, snow-covered peaks. It would be a chore indeed to find the demon there...as they would be unable to get their horses up the mountains at a certain point...and the terrain was rocky, full of caves and dangerous terrain...
...well, hopefully, enough of these dogs would survive to take the creature down...besides, fewer survivors meant less of a split.
A cold, cruel smile spread over Ephrim's weathered face.
