Sighing softly, the being again glanced at the human, who was prodding his injured shoulder, wincing. The man needed to be with other humans...and the other human in their dwelling-place would doubtlessly be restless, wondering if his companion was alive or not.

Making up his mind, crushing the doubts in his heart, the being stood.

Hopefully, the second time ending up so near a human's dwelling would end much better than the first...

"No, no you can't chew on my boots...what was your name again?"

Jake sighed as the catlike End-creature growled and scooted away, happily chewing on Jake's leather boot. The hunter groaned, dragging a hand down his face. The blizzard had stopped, at last...meaning he could go and try to look for Steve...though he knew it would probably be a hopeless search. Steve could have been buried alive in the snow, found by wolves, fallen off a cliff...the possibilities of death were endless...his chances of survival, slim...

Just thinking about finding his friend dead made Jake sick...though he couldn't stand not knowing.

Leg throbbing, the hunter stood, limping over to the End creature, tugging his boot out of the small, grasping claws and hurriedly exchanging it for a strip of leather. The creature growled a bit but accepted the exchange, watching as Jake tugged on his boot, wincing as his leg protested a bit. He'd healed quite a bit...but it still pained him whenever he tried to walk...

However, that wouldn't stop him from searching for Steve...

Tugging on his cloak with a huff and looping the strap of his satchel, packed with medicines and bandages, over his head, Jake stood before his door, jaw set. Uttering a low plea to Notch for Steve's safety, he reached for the handle, preparing himself to search until nightfall, even if his leg fell off during his search.

After all, would Steve have not done the same for him?

In the meantime, Steve was flat on his back, warily watching as the man who'd saved him wrapped the miner's broken leg in his own ragged cloak. The being was...unbelievably gentle, hesitant even, as he handled Steve's leg. Steve's boot was clutched in his unhurt hand, the being had, very clearly, told him to keep the boot off. He'd shoved it away, eyes wide, as Steve tried to fit his swollen foot into the now far-too-small boot...almost as if he was afraid Steve would do more damage. Steve didn't try it again, watching with rather trusting eyes as the being all but pushed him onto his back, beginning to silently wrap the miner's damaged limb.

Flinching a little when the being hit a sore spot, Steve sighed, glancing again to the mouth of the cave. If only he had crutches...he couldn't make them, due to his hurt arm, though... Agh...and Jake would probably look for him...most likely re-injuring his own leg in the process...and this being wouldn't be there to help him... Curse Jake's stubbornness...he'd probably be sick with worry. How long had it been since Steve left...?

A pang shot up Steve's leg, burrowing into his spine and he gasped, arching a little, "A-aagh! S-stop w-what...what're you—"

Blue eyes flashed over to the dim white ones, now filled with guilt as their owner bit his lip, gingerly trying to lay Steve's leg on his pack, now serving as a pillow. Panting, Steve tried to force himself to relax again. Notch, he hated broken bones...this would keep him here much, much longer than he originally planned...he hoped Jake didn't mind...
