Fanart from reixa

"Hey, I'm bored. Let's go to the base." I grumbled. We were currently hanging around the playground that was in the middle of the park. It was destroyed, like everything else, but some people wanted to keep at least one thing preserved from the destruction happening, so monthly they'd come to the playground to fix it up as much as they could.

I was lying on my back in the dead grass nearby as the others ran around screaming like headless chickens. Grayson was sitting on the only working swingset near me and shrugged.

"El, Xander, and Matt have never been there. Are you sure it's a good idea?" he asked, slowly swinging back and forth.

"As long as Cyan isn't there, we should be fine. You know how Cyan acts around kids. It's taken over a month for mama and Rebel to get him to restrain himself around us. I don't want to see what will happen if he sees more than one 'normal' child like them near him."

"Honestly, it's really weird," Grayson mumbled. "He's still technically a kid. He's barely turning 16, and yet he can't look at a bunch of toddlers without going batshit."

"I dunno. Maybe he just hates little kids. Mama did say he should relax more the older we get." I sighed. I turned my head and watched Xander physically grab and semi-lift Mandy and hurl her down the tube slide, resulting in her landing in ashy, dry wood chips. She started screaming at him and ran back up the slide to chase him down, but he kicked her in the face, causing her to fall back down. Matthew was giggling while watching from the top of the playground roof. How'd he even get up there?

Eloise got tangled up in the miniature rope course, and was currently hanging upside down while attempting to get her metallic foot unsnarled.

Cally- wait. Where's Cally? I sat up and looked around for a tuft of curly blonde hair, and happened to find it drenched while lumbering up the hill. Soon I saw her face, also drenched, and very miserable looking.

"Cal! What happened to you?" I shouted as she came all the way up the hill. She shot a glare at me, then started waddling my way since I was sitting where the sun was hitting. She plopped down next to me and started to pull her hair out of its ponytail and wring it out.

"Apparently the river that leads to the stream is still running. Very heavily." She growled. I blinked at her emptily for a second before bursting out laughing.

"You fell in?" I wheezed in between laughs. She glared at me and flung some excess water at me.

"I was trying to cross over like usual, to see how the tree I planted was growing. But the reeds were blocking my vision when I was trying to find a stone to step on. Turns out that stone is two feet underwater."

I was heavily breathing, trying to calm myself from my laugh-fest. I turned to her, my face still tinted red.

"Is the river running? I'm surprised you weren't swept downstream."

"No, it's not running. It's very still and very dirty, but it looks like it's starting to reach its original water levels. Very slowly. The creek is still blocked off though so it's unintact."

"Well, it only just hit Spring, and usually water levels rise around now."

"No," she shook her head, standing up to wring out her dress. "It's too high to just be natural. Usually water levels would just raise a little bit. But this time the entire river is filling up. Once the creek gets cleared it'll start running again." I stared at her as she spoke then shrugged.

"Anyway, I need a new change of clothes and a big shower." She huffed. Around now Gray and Eloise started trotting over, Gray having just helped untangle El from the rope trap.
