Chapter 28. Revenge Part 1

Start from the beginning

Briac chuckled, then said, "I've also heard about your business, Zach. You have a hundred percent success rate." I smiled at Briac, then uttered, "I guess I'm pretty famous, Briac. It's exhausting living a double life, though. I wish that I could tell people how much time and effort it takes to make my plans successful. It sometimes takes me weeks to come up with a suitable strategy. I'm glad that you all appreciate my hard work, but I'd like to keep my identity concealed if you all don't mind." Amelia smiled, then responded to me with, "Your secret is safe with us, Zachariel. Contact me if you ever need anything." Chance smirked, then asked me, "Doesn't this mean that you are still rich, Zach?" I chuckled, then answered Chance with, "Yes, Chance, I have enough money to start another corporation right next to the Arrakasta company. Why next to my old company, you ask?" It because I want to see Andrew's downfall. I want him to grovel at my feet and ask me for help. I want to kick him when he's down and tell him to get lost. He will rue the day he was born."

Alexei coughed suddenly to get my attention. I got startled when I saw everyone staring at me. The kids were half asleep, so they didn't hear my wild outburst. I smiled politely at everyone, then uttered, "I'm sorry for letting you all see the sinister side of me, guys. I let my anger get the best of me. I'll try to control myself from now on." Alexandre burst out laughing, then stated, "I like your spunk, Zachariel. Keep up the good work." Alexei sighed, then said, "It's time to put the kids to bed, dad." Alexandre looked at his expensive watch, then responded to Alexei with, "We all have work tomorrow, so we'll be leaving now too, Alexei." Amelia grabbed an envelope out of her bag, then said while handing it to me, "This is the envelope that my mother left for you, Zachariel. I didn't open it, so I don't know what's in it." I carefully opened the envelope, then read the letter that was in it. Amelia looked expectantly at me. I smiled at her then stated, "It's just a thank you letter, ma'am." Amelia nodded, then asked me, "Are you sure that there is nothing else in the envelope, Zachariel? It was pretty thick."

I decided to look into the envelope once again. I was surprised when I saw that Mrs. Palmer had left a check for ten thousand dollars for me. I took the note out of the envelope, then handed it to Amelia. Amelia chuckled, then stated, "It seems like my mother had a crush on you, Zachariel." I groaned while running my fingers through my hair. Amelia got up, then walked over to me. She placed the check in front of me, then stated, "No one liked my mother, Zachariel. Melissa Palmer didn't like to sugar-coat her words. My mother told me that you were the only one who wasn't biased against her. You always treated her with kindness. She did everything in her power to push you away, but you kept visiting her. My mother had a hard life. She wasn't educated and had to handle my father's affairs after his death. Her relatives were always after her money. I thought that she would die alone, but the nurses surrounded her after you left. One of the nurses told me that they were following your orders. My mother had a huge smile on her face because of you when she died, Zachariel. I hope that you can visit her grave someday. She would appreciate your company."

I grasped Amelia's hand, then said, "I would like to do something much better for her, ma'am." Amelia looked questioningly at me when I grabbed my phone. I dialed a number, then put the phone on speaker. I chuckled when I heard Stephen's daughter Elizabeth yell, "Hi, uncle Zach!" through the phone. Genevieve looked startled at me. I placed a kiss on Genevieve's head, then whispered, "It's alright, baby girl. Go back to sleep." I pulled Genevieve onto my lap, then responded to Elizabeth with, "Hi, Elizabeth. Where is your dad?" Elizabeth sighed, then answered me with, "He's playing basketball with the older boys. We don't have school from tomorrow on, so most of the kids stayed behind at the center." I was just about to reply to Elizabeth when I heard her yell, "Oh, there he is now. Daddy, uncle Zach wants to talk to you!" I shook my head when I heard Stephen yell, "Stop yelling, Elly. Are you on a mission to destroy everyone's eardrums tonight?" Elizabeth chuckled, then uttered before handing the phone over to her father, "I hope to see you soon, uncle Zach. Bye."
