Chapter 8: Submerged Fish

"Paracule has a point," Khun spoke up. You looked at him in disbelief. "If he's an irregular, I'm sorry but that news changes everything. I can't lend him a hand anymore."

"I can't believe you... You'd stoop so low to just... to just abandon a friend? Wow... And here I thought you were different, but no, you're not. You're just like the rest of those... those jerks from the Khun family..." Your voice shook and you felt hot tears form in your eyes. Hatz gave you a quick look of concern and then lashed out at Khun.

"Hey ugly earrings, are you crazy?" Hatz scolded Khun. Khun began to walk away, but Rak ran up and head-butted him to the floor. You wanted to feel sympathy for the blue haired boy, but you couldn't.

"What are you doing, gator?" Khun lashed at Rak.

"I'm going with the black turtle. You stupid blue turtle; you've got your head inside your shell because you're afraid of being eaten."

"What was that?"

"I hope you live a long happy life! The black turtle, small turtle, and I will be looking down on you from the top of the-"

"Hey, how long are you gonna keep up the melodrama?" Shibisu butted in.

"Yeah, it's starting to make me sleepy," Endorsi complained.

"Someone over there actually is asleep," Anaak remarked.

"Come on, guys, do you really think we should abandon Bam right now?" Shibisu asked.

"What's happening?" Hatz asked aloud.

"They're just trying to persuade all of us. They want us to give Bam our support," said Endorsi.

"I have no interest in helping that guy. I just want these tests to be over with as soon as possible," Anaak added.

"I don't need persuasion. I've already made up my mind, and I'm helping Bam, no doubt about it," you said with a determined smile.

"It looks like your third-rate acting job paid off in the end," Rak remarked. 'It was all an act? That damned blue haired...'

"Shut up, you puny gator."

"Well, I think the majority of you are in agreement. All we can do now is wait for Bam's results," Lero Ro spoke up.

Pretty soon, we all began the next test. Both Bam and Rachel were to be put underwater in a bubble, to be consumed by the net dolphin queen, while everyone else were to put a stop to striped earthpigs, barnacle goblins, and the giant marsh worms. And so, you were positioned with Hatz to watch over the barnacle goblins and the net dolphins.

"We can't search underground using lighthouses," Khun explained over your pocket, "Our only option is to fortify the surface. Hatz, (name), you guys keep an eye on the goblins' movements. Spear bearers, observe from a high..." You spaced out from hearing Khun's lovely voice, and a smile crept up onto your face.

"(Name)," you heard a voice; it was Hatz. It sounded urgent.

"Huh, yes?" You shook your head from spacing out. Heat rose to your face. 'Good grief, why was I thinking about Khun of all things during this time? I need to focus! This is an important test; lives could be lost if I-'

"It's an emergency. Dede and Blarouse-"

"Wait what?" You looked around you and saw blood everywhere. "W-what happened...?"
