"You're here!" The team's wave controller, Michael, exclaimed, "Is he our new teammate?"
"Yes, this is Edin Dan, a scout," Novick began, "Say hi, Dan. They are our teammates. Now that all of us are here... should we start?"
"Start? What?" Dan asked.
"There's always a hierarchy in every group. We rank the power of our members."
"You mean... we should fight here and now?"
"Yes. You may give up if you want to."
"I'll pass," you said. "I might not be the strongest here, but I will always be Khun's second in command." Gyetang, Apple, and Michael also passed on the fighting. Almost immediately, Dan was knocked out and it was just Novick and Ran. Of course, Novick only did this, just so he could finally beat the younger member of the Khun family. It always amazed you how strong that kid could be. You often teased him a bit, about being a precious child and Khun's little brother; Ran always found it annoying, but he allowed only you to continue with it.
While the two powerhouses of the team fought against each other, an idea came to your mind. 'So... this Dan guy. He's supposed to be really fast, huh? Let's see which of us scouts is better. Khun can't just replace me with this guy of all people.'
"Hey Dan," you called out to your newest team member. He just got done with his injuries being taken care of.
"What is it? I thought you said you'd pass on fighting," he remarked.
"Oh, I did," you said as you placed your hands on your hips, "but I want to see which of us is the better scout. You're known for being fast, right? So how about we have a race?"
"Alright. But just so you know, I'm not going easy on you."
"I appreciate that," you said with a slight smirk, "but I'll probably have to go easy on you." The two of you lined up by some rocks and began running as Gyetang counted to three. Dan took off and left you in the dust, but you still kept going. As the two of you ran, you slowly caught up, and nearly passed him as the two of you finished.
"Not bad. You were pretty close to me near the end," Dan commented.
"Yeah, you were pretty good yourself. You are definitely faster than me, but when it comes to endurance, I think I beat you on that one." You smiled a little. 'I don't think I've had this much fun in a long time... How long has it been? Six years? Yeah... Back when Bam was...' You shook away the depressing thought. 'Let's... not think about that now...'
Later on, everyone met up back at the house in Khun's room. For whatever reason, everyone was seated together in a line, and wore numbered jerseys; everyone except for Khun and yourself, who sat across from the group. Khun went on to explain that the team would finally be taking the test in order to move up the next floors. Your eyes widened in surprise. It has been six years, and you thought that you'd always be stuck here, and you sort of enjoyed living a simpler life with Khun, but yet... you also didn't want to stay. 'What was my purpose for climbing the tower, anyways? Have I really forgotten?'
It was later in the night, but you couldn't sleep. Everyone else was asleep, or so you thought. Your mind was racing, as well as your heart. 'Why am I thinking about him right now...? Khun is fine... right?' You tossed and turned as you tried to get the blue haired boy out of your mind. Alas, thoughts of him still flooded you. 'Oh, what the heck. He's going to be ticked that I'm disturbing his sleep...' You got up out of bed and walked across the hall.
"Khun?" You knocked on his door. There were a few muffled noises, so you knew he was in there, and awake. "I'm coming in, okay?" As you opened the door, you saw Khun seated on his bed, hunched over, and his hands covered his face. As you saw the state he was in, you slowly closed the door behind you. "Khun...?"
"Why are you here? What do you want?" He asked coldly. You jumped from the tone of his voice.
"I-I wanted to check up on you..."
"Well I'm fine. If that is all, you can go."
"You don't look like you're fine right now..." You walked over to his bed and stood before him. "Something's bothering you. I don't need a feeling to see that you're going through something right now." There was silence. You hesitated. "It's about him, isn't it? Khun... it's okay to cry..."
"(Name), you know that I don't cry." Khun remained as he was.
"Then screw it! I'll cry for you! Bam was my best friend too..." He looked up at you, his eyes all clouded. Meanwhile, tears streamed down your face. "It's okay to express your emotions sometimes, Khun." You felt the light blue haired boy bury his face into your chest and grip the hem of your shirt. Heat rose to your face at his sudden actions. He shook a bit. "It's okay," you repeated as you stroked his hair; it felt so soft like silk. "I'm here for you. I'm never going to leave you; I promised that I would always stay by your side, Khun." More tears flooded out of your eyes. In exhaustion, you sat down on Khun's bed next to him, and slowly dozed off on his shoulder.
"Thank you, (name)," was the last thing you heard before you fell into a deep sleep.
