Chapter 10: The Next Test and the Hand of Arlen

Start from the beginning

"A team's cannons have been seized!" A voice announced. "The exam is over! B team wins the test!"

"Hey, that's awesome! Nice job, guys!" You said with a smile as you met up with your team. Everyone was now at the new place you would all call home temporarily. "Hey Kh-" You looked over, but saw that Khun was preoccupied with talking to Dan. 'Guess I can wait.' You waited for a good five minutes or so, when you heard the door open.

"Was Mr. Khun angry with you?" You heard someone ask. 'Ah, Rachel. That backstabbing piece of... I almost forgot you existed. Such a shame.'

"Well... A little. It was my mistake," you heard Dan say. You heard more words exchanged between them, but it was more of just Rachel sucking up to Dan. When the two were finally gone, you made your way to the door and knocked. There was no answer. You slowly turned the knob and opened the door.

"Khun...?" You asked as you looked at the blue haired boy. He looked like he was in a daze as he stared at the device that Dan was using earlier. You saw him type something out, and then sigh. He then typed some more on the device, got annoyed, placed the device down, and sighed once more. You walked over to him and placed your hand on his shoulder. As you did so, you looked down at the device. 'Wait... Bam is alive...? How?' Just then, Khun's pocket rang, which snapped both of you out of your dazes.

"Khun!"

"What's up, Apple? You usually don't call me," said Khun.

"Sorry, did I bother you?"

"No... it's okay. What's up?"

"Remember how you asked me to find 'The devil's right arm' long ago?" Apple asked. Your eyes widened as you looked at Khun. 'You don't mean...'

"You found him?! Where?"

"Someone posted on the box. I think his picture was taken by accident. He looks similar to what you described. He's on the 28th floor," Apple explained, "We still have some time before the workshop battle. Should I find out more?"

"Of course we should. Go catch him."

More information was found out about this devil of the right hand. Apparently he was on the 28th floor, and near the iconic sculpture, the hand of Arlen. You, Khun, Ran, and Novick got ready and made your way to the 28th floor. You wore a long sleeved shirt, a pair of loose dark pants, and a cloak over top in a dark version of your favorite color.

"The devil's right arm is mine. Don't touch him, Ran," you heard Novick say.

"Shut up. Just shoot your spear, you spear bearer," Ran retorted.

"Then let's see who catches him first and see who's really number one."

"Stop bothering me. Get away."

"You two have fun with that," You chimed in, "I'll be keeping watch so that you two don't end up getting yourselves killed." Everyone remained silent as all of you walked closer to the giant sculpture of a hand.

"'The Hand of Arlen'. I don't know how it might've looked before... but it looks grotesque like that," Khun commented, "It'd be better to just destroy it."

"It is... unnerving..." You shuddered at the thought; there was a feeling in your gut that something bad was going to happen. 'I should stay by Khun...'

"But Khun... do you think he's there?" Novick asked.

"Maybe? He's completely hidden himself from others for the past few years," Khun replied, "I don't think it was a mistake for him to show up in that picture. I don't think it's a coincidence he left a perfect clue like this. I think this is to invite someone here. Of course... he didn't mean to invite us."

"Which means... people other than us might come here as well."

"So, we should be careful," you explained, "We don't know who all will be here, or how many."

"Ran, Novick, there are traps all around. Eliminate them. I'll support you," said Khun. Ran already ran off on his own, which left a pretty pissed of Novick in the dust.

"H-hey! If Ran keeps going ahead, he won't have a scout to be his second pair of eyes..." You said with a pout. 'Man, what am I, chopped liver?'

"Ran!" Novick's voice was the last thing you heard. Just then, the lighthouse with Ran lost connection. Khun just deadpanned at the lighthouse in front of him.

"Um... Khun?" You asked. "Are you okay...?" You looked at the lighthouse, then back at Khun, then back at the lighthouse again. You sighed. "Those idiots... I have a bad feeling about this..."

"I can't believe he already broke the lighthouse... What the heck are they up to?" Khun sighed. "That's why I wanted to bring the others too. How could they all be busy at the same time? Darn, I've got no choice. I'll have to send the remaining lighthouses that way."

"I can send my observer around to check out the area," you suggested. "I've been getting better at it..." You sent your observer around, just as Khun got a notification.

"What's wrong...?" There was a notification that said "you're caught in a trap."

"Wait, what?" You asked. You saw Khun's eyes widen.

"(Name)! Look out!" Khun called out as he pushed you to the side; he was pierced through the chest.

"Khun!" You knelt down at his side. "Are you okay? Khun?" Tears began to form in your eyes. 'He saved me... and yet... I couldn't do anything... Damn it...'
