*Erin's POV*

I was sitting in my car and hit the steering wheel.
I just imagined coming back differently.
And not that Hank puts me down in front of everyone at my first day.
My car was parked in front of Chicago Med.
A place I had been so often and now walked in again because I knew that Jay was here.
"Hey Maggie." The nurse at the front desk looked up.
"Been a while since I saw you." She smiled but then left because Dr Choi needed her.
I made my way up to the station Jay was going to be on and saw Will sitting in the waiting area.
When he saw me he didn't got up or even greeted me so I just walked towards him and sat down.
"Hey Will." I tried to start a conversation.
"You know what you did to him, right?" I immediately knew who he was talking about and my mood got even worse.
"It's not like I left because of him. And I'm sure you know it." Will looked into my eyes and I could see pure anger.
"This man was madly in love with you. I guess he didn't told you and maybe he won't be able to so I'll tell you; Jay wanted to propose to you the day you left. He asked me for the ring of our mother and he still is carrying it with him around." First I wanted to make one more comment, but when I heard what he said the words stuck in my throat.
"You're speechless now, aren't you? Maybe you should go back from where you came and don't destroy my brother's life even more." Will got up and left me alone with my emotional chaos.
I couldn't believe Jay wanted to propose to me and I left him without saying a word.

*Jay's POV*

When I opened my eyes I was in a hospital bed.
Someone was holding my hand and I was expecting it to be Erin put when I looked to my right side it was my brother sitting next to me.
"Hey Will." My voice was rough.
"Hey big bro." He smirked.
"You really have a knack for terrifying me." I grinned at him and looked through the room, hoping Erin would be somewhere but she wasn't.
"I appreciate you being here, but you don't happen to know if Erin is here?" Something on Will's expression changed when I said her name.
"She was but she left." He said, got up and walked over to the window where he then looked out.
"Did she told you why she left?" I asked and groaned in pain when I moved a bit.
"I told her to." My jaw dropped when he said that.
"Why would you do that?" I couldn't believe that Will would say that to her.
"Because I want to protect you. You are just blind with love and don't see that she's destroying your life." Will turned around and it took me a moment before I could speak.
"Give me my phone." I couldn't reach it without moving and when I moved my whole stomach hurt.
"Fine. But then find someone else you can cry to when she goes back to New York because she doesn't like it here." Will gave me my phone and left.
Erin didn't reply to my call and so I sent her a message asking her to come to the hospital to talk to me and she read it immediately but didn't answer me and I thought she would come but a few minutes later the door to my room opened and Erin sneaked in.
"First of all; how are you doing?" She looked at me worried.
"It's okay. I mean I had a bullet in my stomach but it isn't there anymore. And you're here so I'm good." I smiled briefly.
"Jay I don't know if I should be here. You're brother is right. I gave you false hope the last time so you even wanted to... I think I should go." Erin turned around and left.
She closed the door before I could stop her and given that I got shot I couldn't follow her.

*Erin's POV*

I didn't know what I did expect from walking back know Jay's room.
I started to feel that Chicago was no longer the right place for me either.
Life has been going on here too and I lost my spot in the unit.
Being on patrol just wasn't what I wanted and I didn't know if I could do it forever.
Since I left Jay more than an hour ago I hadn't been driven home.
My car was parked in the parking lot and I was sitting in it just waiting for some sort of enlightenment so I knew what to do.
After a while I went back to the hospital. Visiting time was long over, but when I showed the nurse my badge, she let me in.
When I walked into Jay's room ge was asleep and so I just sat down and watch the way his chest rose and fell until I went to sleep myself.
