*Erin's POV*
"How'd it go?" Trudy came back before Hank and Jay.
"Not good. I couldn't talk to, apparently he had an appointment." Platt looked at me apologetically.
"Thanks anyways, Sarge. Preciate you trying to help me." I smiled at her and then buzzed up, even if I didn't know if I should be working.
"Hey Erin. Do you know where Voight and Jay went?" Adam leaned against his desk.
"No, I don't. Make yourself useful and do a bit of paperwork, your table is already drowning in it." I outranked him, so I could tell him what to do even if he didn't like it.
"Ouh c'mon, Lindsay." He rolled his eyes but didn't start.
"Do what she says." Antonio stood next to me.
Ruzek looked annoyed, but then sat down.
"A word?" Antonio looked at me questioningly and we then went to talk in the locker room.
"I don't want to say anything, but the subpoena is hanging out of her pocket. What are you charged with?" He pulled out the letter and I sighed.
"Attempted murder on that McAllister guy. Jay and Hank went to talk with the attorney." I held the letter out to Antonio so he could read it.
"Damn. David Baker? The guy has a really high success rate." I swallowed at the thought that I was going to jail, which was generally not nice, but especially not when you were a policeman.
"Sorry. Didn't mean to say that. We'll get you a good lawyer, okay? Hank certainly knows someone good." Antonio patted me on the shoulder and I nodded.
"What did you do or not do with your wife last night to get her in the mood like she has today?" Ruzek seemed to be telling Jay that I'd told him to work.
"Just do the detective exam, then we won't outrank you anymore." Dawson smirked at Adam who didn't seemed please to see Antonio and I.
"Er come here a sec." Jay pulled me into the break room.
"The charges weren't dropped, but you will win the trial." I didn't quite understand why Jay looked so pleased.
"And what makes you think that? I'm a cop charged with murder. The media will pounce on it." I raised an eyebrow but Jay's expression didn't change.
"Well. Our good attorney Baker here seems to have a thing for hookers. Voight and I surprised him when he had such a lady with him, which means that we now have leverage against him." The smile on his lips got bigger and my jaw dropped.
"And I always thought that people like that lead flawless lives." I didn't even know what to do with the information.*Jay's POV*
It has been two weeks since Erin got the subpoena and we were headed to the court right now.
"Do you think this will work out?" Erin sat restlessly next to me and could hardly keep still.
"It's gonna be alright." When I turned the corner, our car was bombarded by camera flashes and I had to brake because I couldn't see anything.
"What the hell is that?" I looked at Erin and saw pure panic in her eyes.
"Ey!" I tried to get her attention.
"Ey! Erin!" I grabbed her hand as I backed away.
"It's gonna be just fine." I looked her in the eye and she nodded.
"Sarge you hear me?" I had my radio with me as always and hoped Voight did to.
"Yes Jay, go for Voight." He answered me right away.
"Are you already at court?" I parked our car a bit out of the way.
"No. But I'm there in like a minute. What's going on?" Voight seemed like he had was curious.
"Everything is full of paparazzi. We can't get in there at the front, they already have enough photos." I still held Erin's hand and felt her pulse go up.
"What?" It was a short while before we heard anything again.
"I have no idea what's going on, but I'll see it for myself now, go in through the police entrance, I'll meet you there, then they'll let us in." I turned my radio off.
"Just breath." I had never seen Erin so scared and I didn't know if I had enough strength to be strong for both of us right now.
"I love you, okay? Don't ever forget that." Erin leaned over to me and kissed me like that kiss would last for the rest of our lives.
"I love you too. And I won't ever forget." I gave her a quick hug and then we got out of the car.
"Make that you get away." A man with a camera came up to us, but then turned away again.
"Hank." Erin looked glad to see another familiar face.
"Hey." Voight gave her a hug and then we went inside.
"What's this, Baker?" Voight got down to business as soon as he saw the attorney.
"What are you taking about?" Baker looked innocent, but a smile played on his lips, which showed me that he knew exactly what we were talking about.
"We have to go in anyway. The trial is about to start and we can't keep the jury waiting." I looked at Erin because our lawyer wasn't there yet.
"Lindsay's lawyer isn't here yet. We can't start." Voight grabbed Baker's arm and held him tight.
"Sergeant! Keep your hands off me!" Everyone was looking at us and Voight shot him an angry look.
"I can't change it. Everyone else is here. We have to go in now." I kept pushing Erin, who almost resisted that I brought her into the room.
The doors closed behind us and the process began.
