Chapter 34. Origin Part 3

I smiled while thinking, "Dominique is surely something else." I grabbed Jacques's hand then walked with Dominique and him to the patio. Genevieve was too busy staring at a ladybug to notice me. She squealed when she heard me yell, "Now where might my little princess be? I feel so lonely without her." I quickly put Dominique down when Genevieve threw herself at me. Genevieve hugged me tightly, then said, "I missed you so much, papa." I stroked Genevieve's back, then took a seat on the sofa with her. The boys took a seat beside us. I put Genevieve on my lap, then yelled, "Charlotte!" All the kids turned around to gaze at Charlotte. They kicked their legs in excitement when they smelled the delicious treats and snacks. Charlotte placed the tray full of goodies on the table, then said, "You can eat as much as you like, kids. Your papa bought them for you guys today. They are healthy and won't ruin your appetite." The kids hugged me, then jumped off the sofa. Ocean and Bertha sanitized their hands before they ate. Genevieve grinned at me while eating a piece of candy. She was a happy little girl.

I stroked Genevieve's head, then said, "Enjoy your snack, baby girl." Charlotte, Bertha, and Ocean joined us after a while. We chatted about the upcoming weekend while enjoying the sweets. The kids huddled together and watched a kids movie on my laptop with me after they had their fill. They didn't even notice their father when he walked into the backyard. Alexei placed a kiss on my cheek, then uttered, "I'm home, Zachariel." The kids squealed when they heard their father's voice. They greeted Alexei, then started telling him about their day. Charlotte approached us suddenly then said, "Mrs. Marquis called the house just now, sir. She said that something came up. Your father won't be able to visit us today either." Alexei frowned, then uttered, "My father didn't pick up his phone when I called him this morning as well. I have a feeling that he is hiding something from me. Ask Bertha and Ocean to get the kids ready for departure, Charlotte. We're having dinner at my father's house tonight." I frowned at Alexei, then asked him, "Are you sure that they are home, Alexei?"

Alexei kissed me softly, then answered me with, "Yes, Zachariel. Chance told me that he and Briac had originally planned to have dinner at my father's house tonight. They had to change their plans due to an unexpected visit from his parents. Chance and Briac will be eating with them tonight." I nodded, then uttered while getting up, "I guess I should go get changed too then." Alexei grabbed my hand, then stated, "I had a serious talk with Tristan when I returned to the office. Let's just say that he won't bother you again." I was afraid to ask Alexei about Tristan's punishment. I sighed while looking at him. Alexei smirked at me, then declared, "Go get ready before it gets late, Zachariel." The kids were thrilled when they heard that they were going on a trip. They obediently followed all the rules and gazed out of the window during the journey. I stopped on the way to buy some flowers for Amelia. The kids giggled when I handed each of them a rose for Amelia. I wasn't surprised when I saw Amelia's luxurious house.

The gatekeeper let us through when he recognized Alexei. Cash whistled when he saw Alexandre's showroom with expensive vehicles. A few men were busy cleaning the cars. Cash grinned at Alexei, then asked him, "Do you think that they would care if I looked at the cars, Alexei?" Alexei shook his head, then responded to Cash with, "No, Cash. The Ferrari crew would love to display their skills, but please don't touch anything. I don't want my father to hold me accountable for something ridiculous." Cash chuckled while getting out of the car. Bertha and Ocean unbuckled the kid's seat belts, then helped them out. I grabbed the bouquet, then made sure that the kids looked presentable. The kids stared at the front door while clutching their roses.

Alexei threw his arm around me, then uttered, "You were right, Zachariel. I should have never closed off my heart. It feels great to surprise your family." The kids stomped their feet when the front door flew open. Amelia ran out of the house while yelling, "Oh my lord, I can't believe this!" The kids shouted, "Grandma!" then ran at full speed at their grandmother. Amelia crouched down to hug them. The kids kissed Amelia's cheeks, then handed her the roses. Amelia cried while accepting the flowers. She wiped her tears away when she heard Genevieve say, "You look beautiful, grandma." It was quite the opposite of what Genevieve had stated. It seemed like Amelia had been cooking for an army. Her apron was full of stains, and her hair was a mess. Amelia smiled at Genevieve, then responded to her with, "Thank you, baby girl. You all look great too." Amelia grinned at us, then added, "Welcome to the Marquis residence, everyone. Please come inside."

The kids followed their grandma like little ducklings. Alexei grabbed my hand then asked me, "Are you nervous, Zachariel?" I frowned at Alexei, then asked him, "Why would I be nervous, Alexei?" Alexei placed a kiss on my cheek, then responded to me with, "I heard that visiting your in-laws can be very nerve-wracking. I just wanted to make sure that you were alright." I smiled at Alexei, then said, "I know your father and Amelia pretty well, Alexei. So there is nothing for me to worry about" Alexei nodded, then lead me into the house. We took a step back when Maverick ran down the stairs. I was surprised when I saw that Alexandre was right behind him. Alexandre didn't look where he was going and slipped from the stairs. Alexei caught his father before he fell. Alexei groaned, then uttered, "Doesn't anyone in this house know how to walk?" Alexandre hugged Alexei tightly, then said, "I'm so happy to see you, Alexei. Thank you for visiting me." Alexei frowned when he noticed his father's plastered arm. He glared at Alexandre then asked him, "What happened to your arm, dad?"

I snickered when I heard Amelia yell from the kitchen, "He fell while chasing after Maverick on Monday. He felt ashamed, so he didn't tell you about it, Alexei." Alexandre looked sheepishly at Alexei, then said, "I'll be more careful next time, Alexei." The kids ran past us with Maverick the moment Alexandre uttered those words. I laughed while walking towards the kitchen to see what Amelia was cooking. Bertha and Ocean put the kid's stuff away then ran after the kids. Amelia smiled when I gave her the bouquet. She ordered one of her maids to put it in a vase. The whole kitchen table was full of pie boxes. The pies smelled delicious. Amelia stroked my head, then said, "I made these pies for a charity dinner. The director will pick them up soon. Would you like to have a taste, Zachariel?" I nodded at Amelia. Amelia grabbed a fresh-baked pie out of the oven, then cut it into slices. She fed me a piece of pie, then uttered, "Pineapple pies are my specialty, Zachariel. I learned how to bake them while studying in France." I closed my eyes to savor the taste. The pie just melted in my mouth. Alexei hugged me from behind, then asked me while placing his head on my shoulder, "Can I have a slice too, Zachariel? I'm hungry."

Amelia instantly grabbed a slice of pie, then reached her hand out to feed Alexei. She got startled when she realized what she was doing. Alexei huffed, then grabbed Amelia's hand and took a bite. Amelia's eyes welled up with tears when Alexei uttered, "It delicious, Amelia." Alexandre stroked Amelia's back to soothe her. Amelia composed herself, then said, "I've already cooked food, Alexei. It just needs to be heated. I had forgotten that Chance wouldn't bring his parents around today. I have cooked enough for ten people." Alexei nodded at Amelia. He was just about to thank Amelia when Dominique grabbed his arm, then yelled, "Come look at the playground that grandpa has built for us, daddy!" Alexei smiled at his father, then followed Dominique.

I gave Amelia a thumbs up when she grinned at me. I helped Amelia put the pies in bags, then went to wash up. We were just about to eat when the doorbell rang. A maid opened the door, then yelled, "Mr. Giovanni Malachi is here to pick up the pies, ma'am." I instantly looked in Amelia's direction when I heard my biological father's name. Amelia put her hand on my shoulder, then said, "Giovanni is probably filling in for Marcus, Zachariel. He wasn't supposed to be here." I sighed when I heard Giovanni Malachi yell, "Hey, Alexandre! I heard that you broke your arm while chasing after your dog. Isn't  that ironic? You laughed at me when I pierced my ear while fishing." Giovanni took a step back when he saw that the dining room was full of people. He whispered, "Hi, Zachariel," when he noticed me.
